Degradation Kinetics of an Epoxy/Cycloaliphatic Amine Resin Under Isothermal and Non-isothermal Conditions

A study of an epoxy-cycloaliphatic amine system has been realized using a thermogravimetric technique (TG). Isothermal and non-isothermal (dynamic) methods were employed to determine the kinetic data of this system. Five methods were used for determining the activation energies of this system in the dynamic heating experiments. In two of them (Flynn-Wall-Ozawa, and Kissinger) it is not necessary to have a prior knowledge of the reaction mechanism of the degradation behaviour for this system. In the other ones (Coats and Redfern, Horowitz and Metzger, and Van Krevelen et al.) it is necessary to know this reaction mechanism, besides Criado et al. method was used for determining it. The results have shown that good agreement between the activation energies obtained from all methods can be achieved if it is assumed that the degradation behaviour of this system is of sigmoidal-rate type. Influence of the reduction of iodate ion by hydrogen peroxide on the model of the Bray-Liebhafsky reaction

The reduction of iodate ion by hydrogen peroxide, originally postulated by Liebhafsky, is considered as a possible step in the kinetic model proposed by Kolar-Ani and G. Schmitz for the overall Bray-Liebhafsky oscillatory process.     

二茂钛含氟有机酸衍生物的质谱研究

本文研究了二茂钛含氟长链有机酸衍生物(1～3)和具有环状结构的新型二茂钛全氟有机酸(4～7)的电子轰击质谱(EIMS)和负离子化学电离质谱(NICIMS)。在EI谱中出现弱的或不出现M~+,1～7均以CpTiF_2离子为基峰。高质量区的主要特征碎片离子有[M-·cp]~+、[M-R]~+(1～3)和氟重排离子。在低质量区出现一系列二茂钛及茂钛氟重排离子。 1、4～7的NICI(CH_4)质谱中,4、5出现强的M~-离子峰,1出现[M-1]-离子峰,有两个钛的环状结构化合物6和7出现双电荷M~=离子峰,而不出现M~-。     

Propane/propylene separation by selective olefin adsorption on Cu/SBA-15 mesoporous silica

Samples of mesoporous silica, SBA-15, were prepared under hydrothermal conditions and Cu cations were incorporated into the framework by two different impregnation techniques. The corresponding adsorption/desorption isotherms of propylene, propane, and N₂ were measured to evaluate the material's effectiveness in the separation of propane/propylene mixtures. Adsorption uptake of propylene increased and that of propane decreased in Cu containing samples as compared to the uptakes observed in undoped SBA-15 samples. It was demonstrated that the presence of Cu atoms in the adsorbent lattice led to a greater selectivity towards propylene. Furthermore, the highest level of Cu(I) were obtained in samples prepared by equilibrium impregnation, which in turn improved the olefin/paraffin uptake ratio. Under some working conditions, the amount of propylene adsorbed in selected samples is totally reversible while propane uptake was negligible.     

Chromatographic and spectroscopic investigation of the associative changes with the selected higher fatty alcohols

An attempt was made to compare usefulness of the ir spectroscopic technique with paper chromatography in the investigations concerning self-association of higher fatty alcohols. A conclusion was drawn that only the complementary application of both analytical methods better enabled to trace the establishing of association equilibria in the given experimental conditions.     

Estimation of diuretic drugs in biological fluids by HPLC

Summary This critical review of different methods proposed for the determination and screening of diuretics is directed mainly, because of its potential application, towards highperformance liquid chromatography.     

Kinetic study of the reaction of CH3O with Br and Br2

The title reactions have been studied at room temperature by applying the discharge flow method coupled with laser induced fluorescence detection of methoxy radicals and resonance fluorescence detection of bromine atoms. The following rate constants were determined: CH₃O + Br Õ products (1) k ₁ (298 K) = (3.4 ± 0.4 (1)) × 10¹³ cm³ mol^-1 s^-1, CH₃O + Br₂ Õ products (2) k ₂ (298 K) £ 5 × 10⁸ cm³ mol^-1 s^-1.     

Self aggregation of binary mixtures of sodium dodecyl sulfate and polyoxyethylene alkyl ethers in aqueous solution

The mixed micelles of sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS) with Brij35 and Brij 97 were studied separately by fluorescence measurement using pyrene as fluorescent probe. In the range of 0–1.0 mole fraction (X) of added SDS to Brij solutions, the cmc value of the mixed micelles varies from 0.085 to 8 mmol with Brij 35 and 0.04 to 8 mmol with Brij 97. The aggregation number also changes. A measure of the stability of mixed micelles is also presented. The interaction parameter ₁₂ and the chain–chain contribution parameter (B₁) are extracted from the analysis of the results. This parameter B₁ is related to the standard free energy change associated with the introduction of one ionic species into a nonionic micelle coupled with the release of one nonionic species from the micelle. The clouding behaviour of Brij 97 in the presence of SDS was investigated and the associated thermodynamic parameters of clouding were generated and discussed.
