The liquid crystalline character of salts resulting from the interaction of poly(propylene imine) dendrimers with 3-cholesteryloxycarbonylpropanoic acid has been studied. The supramolecular structure and consequently the observed liquid crystalline phases are dictated by the degree of protonation of primary amino groups as compared with that of tertiary ones, determined by FTIR spectroscopy in the bulk and by NMR spectroscopy in solution. Glass transition temperatures of the materials are about 38°C. At higher temperatures they are transformed to smectic C* phases while a second-order smectic C phase to smectic A phase transition is observed between 90 and 110°C depending on dendrimer generation. At about 150°C the onset of degradation is observed. The influence of the ionic dendrimeric scaffold on the thermotropic properties is discussed. 相似文献

The electrochemical oxidation of ammonia (NH3 and/or NH4+) in the presence of chloride was investigated on a Ti/PtOx–IrO2 electrode. It was shown that ammonia is effectively removed from solution via electrogenerated active chlorine. Based on mass balances, nitrogen is postulated to be the main product of ammonia electrolysis. In the bulk, the concentration of chloramines was low. This could be explained by the fact that the oxidation of ammonia takes place close to the electrode surface where an excess of chlorine relative to ammonia is ensured during the process. This results in the oxidation of ammonia to N2 and in a local pH decrease. As a result, chloramines were decomposed in the proximity of the electrode prior to diffusing into the bulk. 相似文献

Soliton strings in mode-locked lasers are obtained using a variant of the nonlinear Schrödinger equation, appropriately modified to model power (intensity) and energy saturation. This equation goes beyond the well-known master equation often used to model these systems. It admits mode-locking and soliton strings in both the constant dispersion and dispersion-managed systems in the (net) anomalous and normal regimes; the master equation is contained as a limiting case. Analysis of soliton interactions show that soliton strings can form when pulses are a certain distance apart relative to their width. Anti-symmetric bi-soliton states are also obtained. Initial states mode-lock to these states under evolution. In the anomalous regime individual soliton pulses are well approximated by the solutions of the unperturbed nonlinear Schrödinger equation, while in the normal regime the pulses are much wider and strongly chirped. 相似文献

Pesticides’ dynamic effects and production uncertainty play an important role in farmers’ production decisions. Pesticides have a current production impact through reducing crop damage in the current period and a future impact through impacting the farm biodiversity which alters the future production environment. This study presents the difference in inefficiency arising from models that ignore the dynamic effects of pesticides in production decisions and the impact of production uncertainty. A dynamic data envelopment analysis (DEA) model is applied to outputs, inputs, and undesirables of Dutch arable farms over the period 2003–2007. A bootstrap approach is used to explain farmers’ performance, providing empirical representations of the impact of stochastic elements on production. These empirical representations are used to adjust firms’ inefficiency scores to incorporate production uncertainty in efficiency evaluation. We find that efficiency increased dramatically when a production technology representation that considers both pesticides’ dynamic impacts, and production uncertainty is adopted. 相似文献
