We have investigated the temperature dependent electrical resistivity, ρ(T), of Ag(100 nm)/Al(10 nm) bilayers grown on Si(111) and quartz substrates using molecular beam epitaxy (MBE). Bilayers grown on Si exhibited an anomalous negative temperature coefficient of resistivity (TCR) in the temperature range of 140-165 K of the ρ(T) plot. However, at temperatures below and above this negative TCR region, ρ(T) exhibited a characteristic positive TCR of metallic alloys. No such resistive anomaly was observed for the bilayers grown on quartz substrates. The observed resistive anomaly could be qualitatively explained by assuming two parallel conduction channels, that is, one at the interface having high Si content and obeying the polaronic behavior at <165 K and another far away from the interface having almost no Si impurity and thus exhibiting pure metallic behavior down to 4 K. In addition, bilayers exhibited a sharp resistive transition at ∼6.5 K, indicating a possibility of a new Ag-Al alloy being a superconducting material. 相似文献

Summary The Navier-Stokes equations are solved numerically to study the problems of laminar, axisymmetric jet impinging normally on an indented wall. The results obtained for three different wall geometries and Reynolds number range upto 25 are compared with those for the impingement on a plane wall to study the influence of indentation. The overall flow picture remains similar to the plane wall case qualitatively but the wall shear stress and pressure distribution get altered in the indented region.
Zusammenfassung Es wird der Strömungsverlauf eines laminaren achsensymmetrischen Strahles nach dem Aufprall auf eine Wand mit Einbuchtung analysiert. Hierzu wird die numerische Lösung der Navier-Stokeschen Gleichungen benutzt. Die Ergebnisse für drei verschiedene Wandgeometrien, als auch für verschiedene Reynolds-Zahlen bis auf 25, sind mit dem Fall der ebenen Wand verglichen, um hieraus den Einfluß der Einbuchtung festzustellen. Das globale Strömungsbild bleibt in allen Fällen qualitativ ähnlich. Es wurde jedoch festgestellt, daß im Bereich der Einbuchtung die Wandschubspannung sowie die Druckverteilung gewisse Änderungen aufweisen.相似文献

Selective multi-photon dissociation (MPD) of Freon-22 (CF2HC1) molecules has been carried out using a TEA CO2 laser at various CO2 laser lines (9P(20)-9P(26)) in order to maximize the yield of C-13 isotope in the product (C2F4) at an enrichment factor of 100. The effects of laser pulse tail due to the presence of N2 in the laser mixture on the enrichment factor and yield of C-13 are investigated. It is found that the addition of a small
amount of N2 is possible in the laser mixture without a significant drop in the yield at desired enrichment factor. Addition of a small
amount of N2 improves the laser efficiency considerably. At a given pulse energy, a slight change in the near field intensity distribution
of a laser severely affects the selectivity of C-13 isotope. The computed far-field intensity distributions of the measured
near-field intensities show marked spatial variation in the focal spots that leads to a drop in selectivity. For macroscopic
production of C-13 isotope a simple and novel multi-pass cavity has been designed and tested to focus the energy repeatedly

An error‐correcting code is said to be locally decodable if a randomized algorithm can recover any single bit of a message by reading only a small number of symbols of a possibly corrupted encoding of the message. Katz and Trevisan 12 showed that any such code C : {0, 1}n → Σm with a decoding algorithm that makes at most q probes must satisfy m = Ω((n/log |Σ|)q/(q?1)). They assumed that the decoding algorithm is non‐adaptive, and left open the question of proving similar bounds for adaptive decoders. Glass samples with composition of (50−X)PbO-(25+X)TiO2-25B2O3 (where X=0, 5, 10 and 12.5 mol%) were prepared using conventional quenching technique. The glass transition temperature, Tg and crystallization temperature Tc were determined from the DTA. These glass samples were converted to glass ceramics by following two stage heat treatment schedule. The glass ceramic samples were characterized by XRD, SEM and dielectric constant measurements. The XRD results revealed the formation of ferroelectric lead titanate (PT) as a major crystalline phase in the glass ceramics. The density increases and the CTE decreases for all glass ceramics with increase in X (mol%). This may be attributed to increase in PT phase. The SEM results which show rounded crystallites of lead titanate, also supports other results. Hysteresis loops observed at room temperature confirms the ferroelectric nature of glass ceramics. The optimized glass ceramic sample exhibits high dielectric constant which is of technical importance. 相似文献

Long-range organization of molecular tilt azimuth is a striking feature in monolayers at the air-water interface. We show that the boojum and stripe textures of pentadecanoic acid (PDA) with the continuous variations of molecular tilt azimuth formed at the air-water interface at temperatures lower than room temperature can be preserved after being transferred to glass substrates at low dipping speeds. The long-range tilt order in the transferred boojums and stripes is resolved by frictional force microscopy at room temperature, suggesting that the tilt order is "frozen" through the interaction of PDA molecules with the glass surface. The transferred stripe structure can be used as a unique alignment layer to induce a continuously azimuthal orientation of nematic liquid crystals. 相似文献

We study CP violation in a multi-Higgs doublet model based on aS
3×Z
3 horizontal symmetry. We consider two mechanisms for CP violation in this model: a) CP violation due to complex Yukawa couplings;
and b) CP violation due to scalarpseudoscalar mixings. We find that the predictions for ε′/ε, CP violation in B decays and
the electric dipole moments of neutron and electron are different between these two mechanisms. These predictions are also

Light scattering relaxation spectrophotometry has proven to be a useful technique to monitor rapid cytophysical changes in chloroplast suspensions brought about by flash illumination. This paper compares the Mg-ATP dependent light scattering behaviour of cholorplasts isolated from control and triazole-treated wheat seedlings. Our results suggest that triazole-treatment enhances Mg-ATP dependent activity. This same enhancement in control chloroplasts can be brought about by introducing potassium ion in the presence of valinomycin. Therefore, the potassium ion might account for part of the stress resistance conferred by triazole treatment. 相似文献

The electrical conductivity results of lithium borosilicate glasses with addition of Li2SO4 and LiCl have been critically analyzed. In general, it is observed that the factors viz. lithium fraction, fLi and the number of non-bridging oxygens (NBOs) govern the ionic conductivity in the lithium conducting glasses. For the same
fLi, the presence of mixed formers in the glass gives higher conductivity compared to that of the glass with only one former.
Thus the competitive network of glass in mixed former systems provides higher mobilities for lithium ions and hence high ionic
conductivity. The addition of Li2SO4 and LiCl in the lithium borosilicate glasses gave enhancement in the conductivity. However, the mechanism of enhancement
in conductivity is different in the two glass systems. The comparison of the result of binary, ternary and quaternary glass
systems suggests that in general, the decrease in activation energy, increase in fLi and increase in NBOs gives rise to enhancement in conductivity. For the same value of fLi the higher conductivity is exhibited by glasses with lower value of K (K=SiO2/B2O3).
