A short and concise route to total synthesis of Dendrodolide L

A short and efficient method for the stereoselective synthesis of Dendrodolide L has been developed from inexpensive and commercially available starting material. This convergent synthesis utilizes Jacobsen kinetic resolution, regioselective ring-opening of epoxide and Yamaguchi macrolactonization as key steps.     

Use of allylzinc halide as a source of halide: Differential addition of nucleophiles to Ts-aziridines and aldehydes under similar reaction conditions

We have observed that the allylic zinc halide under identical reaction conditions acts in different modes for different electrophiles. For Ts-aziridines the halide part of the allylic halide has been introduced as a nucleophile and for the carbonyl compounds the simple allylation reaction occurs. To the best of our knowledge this is the first report where the allylic zinc halide is the source of halide acting as nucleophile. The main advantages of the present procedure are easy to handle, no need of inert atmosphere, mild reaction conditions, and applicability to a wide variety of substrates for aziridines and carbonyl compounds.     

Influence of preferential solvation on the interpolymer complex formation between methacrylic acid–methacrylamide copolymer and poly(vinyl pyrrolidone)

Interpolymer complex formation has been studied between methacrylic acid–methacrylamide copolymer and poly(vinyl pyrrolidone) in acetone–water mixtures of different compositions. At a specific composition of the solvent (e.g., 70% water + 30% acetone by volume), the intrinsic viscosity of the copolymer and the reduced viscosity of 1:1 interpolymer complex had minimum values. Preferential solvation coefficients (λ/C) have been calculated for the various compositions of the solvent mixtures. An excellent coincidence could be obtained between the maximum (λ/C) and the minimum in the viscosity of the polymer solutions. Interpretations have been sought in terms of conformational change of the copolymer at the specific composition of the solvent mixture.     

Epoxides related to dioncoquinone B: Synthesis,activity against multiple myeloma cells,and search for the target protein

Epoxide 2b is an analog of the synthetic intermediate 2a en route to the polyketide-derived antitumoral naphthoquinone dioncoquinone B (1), isolated from cell cultures of the tropical liana Triphyophyllum peltatum (Dioncophyllaceae). Compound 2b was found to induce strong apoptosis in multiple myeloma cells at a concentration (EC₅₀?=?3.5?μM), distinctly lower than that of 1 and any related analog, without exerting significant toxicity against normal blood cells. Preliminary studies showed that 2b follows different SAR rules as compared to the naphthoquinones. Among the series of synthesized epoxides, 2b was the most active one and was thus, after biotinylation, subjected to mass spectrometry-based affinity capture experiments aiming at the identification of target proteins. The MS data revealed 2b to address proteins that are associated with stress regulation processes which are critical for multiple myeloma cell survival.     

Stability-indicating RP-HPLC method for simultaneous quantitation of tramadol and aceclofenac in presence of their major degradation products: Method development and validation

Primary objective of this study was to develop a stability-indicating reverse-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method for simultaneous quantitation of tramadol and aceclofenac in presence of their degradation products. The drugs were subjected to various International Conference on Harmonization recommended stress conditions, such as acid hydrolysis, alkaline hydrolysis, peroxide oxidation, thermolysis, and photolysis. The major degradation products got well resoluted from the analytes in HPLC analysis with a mobile phase composed of a mixture of 0.01?M ammonium acetate buffer (pH 6.5) and acetonitrile (65:35, v/v) through a Phenomenex Gemini C18 (250?mm?×?4.6?mm, 5?µm particle size) column. The method was linear over a range of 15–60?µg/mL for tramadol and 40–160?µg/mL for aceclofenac concentration. The analytes were detected at a wavelength of 270?nm. The method was validated and found to be specific, accurate, precise, stable, and robust for its intended use. The method can be recommended for its future use in routine quality control, accelerated and real-time stability analysis of the formulations containing tramadol and aceclofenac combination.     

Use of Adogen-464 in some parent — daughter separations by reverse phase extraction chromatography

Seperation of few carrier-free daughter isotopes from their respective parents, e.g.,¹³²I from¹³²Te,¹⁴⁰La from¹⁴⁰Ba and²³⁴Th from²³⁸U, using Adogen-464, a high molecular weight quaternary ammoaium salt by reversed phase extraction chromatographic technique is reported.     

Solvent extraction of silver(I) with amberlite-LA-2 using110mAg as tracer

The use of Amberlite-LA-2, a high molecular weight secondary amine, for the radiochemical solvent extraction of Ag(I) present as anionic thiosulfato complex at pH 3 is described. The effects of different parameters on the extraction and preconcentration have been studied in detail. The method was successfully applied in the determination of silver in several synthetic mixutres and also in a few medicinal samples.

The aim of this paper is to study the stability aspects of various types of solution set of a vector optimization problem both in the given space and in its image space by perturbing the objective function and the feasible set. The Kuratowski?CPainlevé set-convergence of the sets of minimal, weak minimal and Henig proper minimal points of the perturbed problems to the corresponding minimal set of the original problem is established assuming the objective functions to be (strictly) properly quasi cone-convex.
