The synthesis of some water-insoluble synthetic polyelectrolyte complexes formed between a weak polyanion and a strong polycation was followed. Sodium salts of poly(acrylic acid) and of some copolymers of acrylic acid with itaconic acid or maleic acid were used as anionic polymers. Cationic polyelectrolytes with quaternary ammonium salt groups in the main chain were used as strong polycations. The cationic polymers were different as concerns both the content of quaternary nitrogen atoms and the degree of branching. The complex formation was followed by the variation of the conductivity and of the specific viscosity of the reaction medium as well as by the turbidimetric titration versus the unit molar ratio polyanion/polycation. The deviation of the endpoint from stoichiometry was influenced mainly by the structure of the complementary polymers and by their molecular weights. The greater the structural differences, the higher the endpoint deviation from stoichiometry. Only insoluble polyelectrolyte complexes (PEC) were obtained in all the polyanion/polycation systems taken into account. The PECs were separated and characterized by elemental and spectral analyses as compared with the complementary polymers. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

In this work, polyethylene glycol (PEG) films were produced by Matrix Assisted Pulsed Laser Evaporation (MAPLE). The possibility to tailor the properties of the films by means of polymer molecular weight was explored. The films of PEG of average molecular weights 400 Da, 1450 Da, and 10000 Da (PEG400, PEG1450, and PEG10000) were investigated in vitro, in media similar with those inside the body (phosphate buffer saline PBS with pH 7.4 and blood). The mass of the polymer did not change during this treatment, but the polymer molecular weight was found to strongly influence the films properties and their behavior in vitro. Thus, immersion in PBS induced swelling of the PEG films, which was more pronounced for PEG polymers of higher molecular weight. Prior to immersion in PBS, the PEG films of higher molecular weight were more hydrophilic, the water contact angles decreasing from ~66 grd for PEG400 to ~41 grd for PEG1450 and to ~15 grd for PEG10000. The same trend was observed during immersion of the PEG films in PBS. Before immersion in PBS, the refractive index of the films increased from ~1.43 for PEG400 to ~1.48 for PEG1450 and to ~1.68 for PEG10000. During immersion in PBS the refractive index decreased gradually, but remained higher for the PEG molecules of higher mass. Finally, blood compatibility tests showed that the PEG films of higher molecular weight were most compatible with blood.  相似文献

The Sporobolomyces salmonicolor AL1 Antarctic strain was cultivated and two bioproducts were obtained: exopolysaccharide and biomass. The biologically active substances ergosterol, torularhodin, torulene, β-carotene and CoQ10 were extracted from the biomass and were quantified as follows: ergosterol 5.2?±?0.2 mg/g, torularhodin 458.3?±?24.5 μg/g, torulene 273.7?±?14.5 μg/g, β-carotene 129.2?±?7.3 μg/g and coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) 236.1?±?12.1 μg/g. Their antioxidant activity was estimated according to the cathode voltammetry method. The most pronounced antioxidant activity (according to trolox) was exhibited by β-carotene 3.78, followed by CoQ10 3.60, both of them being the main contributors to the total extract activity of 3.19. The biologically active metabolites in combination with exoglucomannan as emulsifier were used for the creation of model emulsion systems characterised by great stability. The absorption of UVA rays by the model emulsions was studied.  相似文献

The Eastern Carpathians contain many mineral water springs that feed famous Romanian health resorts such as Borsec, Biborteni and Vatra Dornei. These waters have been used for their different therapeutic effects. In this work, mineral and spring waters from these Romanian regions were investigated by means of chemical and isotopic (δD and δ18O) analyses in order to understand the recharge mechanisms and also to determine their origins. Most of the investigated springs are of meteoric origin, having the average deuterium content of the local meteoric water. The higher 18O content with respect to the Meteoric Water Line (MWL) indicated an exchange reaction with crystalline igneous rocks at depth and with other rocks that the water encounters on its journey back to the surface. The synthesis and characterization of some novel cationic siloxanes copolymers containing quaternary ammonium salt (QAS) groups in the backbone is reported in this article. One cationic oligomer having QAS in the backbone and reactive groups like 2,3‐epoxypropyl and 2‐hydroxy‐3‐chloropropyl (RCO) as well as 1,3‐bis(3‐aminopropyl)tetramethyldisiloxane or α,ω‐bis(3‐aminopropyl)oligodimethylsiloxane (AP) were used as precursors for this goal. Elemental analysis, IR and 1H NMR spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, and X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy were used to characterize the obtained copolymers. The thermal stability of the cationic siloxane copolymer increased when the siloxane oligomer having a high number of siloxane units in the chain (AP) was used as a precursor. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The aim of this work was to evaluate the flocculation of kaolin by using positively charged nonstoichiometric interpolyelectrolyte complex (N-PEC) nanoparticles formed by the interaction of chitosan with poly(sodium 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonate) (NaPAMPS) and two random copolymers of AMPS with t-butyl acrylamide, comparative with chitosan. The flocculation efficiency was evaluated by optical density at 500 nm. The N-PEC nanoparticles were more effective than chitosan in the kaolin separation, especially at low molar ratios between charges, when the flocculation window was more then double at an optimum dose lower than that of chitosan. The main advantage of N-PECs is the increase of critical concentration for kaolin re-stabilization, the N-PEC particles adsorbed on the kaolin surface protecting them more efficient against re-dispersion. The influence of low molar mass electrolytes on the flocculation with N-PECs was also investigated.  相似文献

We demonstrate the potential of an innovative technique, pulsed radiofrequency glow discharge time‐of‐flight mass spectrometry, for the molecular depth profiling of polymer materials. The technique benefits from the presence, in the afterglow of the pulsed glow discharge, of fragment ions that can be related to the structures of the polymers under study. Thin films of different polymers (PMMA, PET, PAMS, PS) were successfully profiled with retention of molecular information along the profile. Multilayered structures of the above polymers were also profiled, and it was possible to discriminate among layers having similar elemental composition but different polymer structure. Effects of the polyanion synthesis conditions and composition on the viscometric behavior of poly(sodium 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonate) (PAMPS) and two random copolymers, poly(sodium 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonate-co-methylmethacrylate) (PAMPSMM) and poly(sodium 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonate-co-tert-butylacrylamide) (PAMPSTBA), in a wide range of concentrations were reported in this paper. The experimental data obtained in salt-free aqueous solution were plotted in terms of the Fuoss and the Rao equations in order to obtain the intrinsic viscosity values. The C∗ values obtained as the reciprocal of the intrinsic viscosity were compared with the experimentally determined values and with those calculated according to the Odijk theory. An acceptable agreement between C∗ values obtained by different approaches was found for the PAMPS samples with high molar masses (0.83 × 106-1.4 × 106 g/mol). For the same charge density and the same concentration the reduced viscosity values were higher for PAMPSMM comparative with PAMPSTBA indicating a higher chain extension of the former copolymer.  相似文献

The kinetics of the amination of chloromethylated polystyrene with two hydroxyalkylic tertiary amines (1-dimethyl-amino-3-propanol and 1-dimethylamino-2-propanol) in dimethylacetamide and dioxane was studied. The amination of benzyl chloride with the two amines in dimethylacetamide was followed. It was found that the amination of chloromethylated polystyrene is a two-step reaction taking place with different rates. The rate constants k1 and k2 were calculated for the two stages, and a self-accelerating effect of the reaction was noticed. Also, the influence of the position of the hydroxyl group versus the tertiary nitrogen was investigated. The increase of the dielectric constant of the solvent favorably influences the reaction rate.  相似文献
