Using the multipoles method, we formulate the problems of radiation (both heave and sway) of water waves by a submerged sphere in deep as well as in uniform finite depth water with an ice-cover, with the ice-cover being modelled as an elastic plate of very small thickness. In each case this leads to an infinite system of linear equations which are solved numerically by standard techniques. The added-mass and damping coefficients for a heaving and swaying sphere are obtained and depicted graphically against the wave number for various values of the radius of the submerged sphere and flexural rigidity of the ice-cover to show the effect of the presence of ice-cover on these quantities. When the flexural rigidity is taken to be zero, the numerical results for the added-mass and damping coefficient for water with a free surface are recovered.  相似文献

The paper presents a general method to find asymptotics for a (multi-)wedge system containing a thin wedge. It employs separation of the symmetric and anti-symmetric parts of the boundary displacements and tractions of the wedge. The method is applicable when the angle of the thin wedge turns to zero. A physical interpretation of the derived equations is obtained by using power expansions of non-polynomial functions, which appear after the Mellin transform. We establish that the first term in the expansion of the symmetric part corresponds to shear, while the first term of the anti-symmetric part describes deflection of the wedge axis. Numerical experiments, performed by using a code developed on the basis of the theory, show that using only the first terms of the expansions insignificantly influence accuracy: the approximate results coincide with the exact values of roots to the third significant digit even for the wedge angle of 30°.  相似文献

Poly(ortho‐phenylene ethynylene)s (PoPEs) have been synthesized via an in situ activation/coupling AB′ polycondensation protocol. The resulting polymers have been characterized by several analytical methods and are shown to have no structural defects. Although the Sonogashira–Hagihara polycondensation reaction is less efficient than for the preparation of the corresponding meta‐ and para‐linked polymers, presumably because of steric hindrance caused by the ortho substituents, the process can be accelerated by the use of microwave irradiation. Optical spectroscopy indicates solvent‐dependent conformational changes between extended transoid and helical cisoid conformations, providing the first experimental evidence for solvophobically driven folding of the PoPE backbone. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Light‐emitting diodes based on organic materials [organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs)] have attracted much interest over the past decade. Several different attempts have been made to realize multicolor OLEDs. This article describes a new approach based on energy transfer in a donor/acceptor system. A copolymer containing both donor and acceptor compounds as comonomer units is prepared. The polymer consists of a derivative of a luminescent dye [4‐dicyanmethylene‐2‐methyl‐6‐4H‐pyran (DCM); acceptor compound], which is copolymerized with fluorene (donor compound) to combine the properties of an electroactive polymer with a highly luminescent dye. Photochemical processing is achieved by UV irradiation of this copolymer in the presence of gaseous trialkylsilanes. This reagent selectively saturates the C?C bonds in the DCM comonomer units while leaving the fluorene units essentially unaffected. As a result of the photochemical process, the red electroluminescence of the acceptor compound vanishes, and the blue‐green electroluminescence from the polyfluorene units is recovered. Compared with previous approaches based on polymer blends, this copolymer approach avoids problems associated with phase‐separation phenomena in the active layer of OLEDs. © 2006Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of 6-carboxyalkyl and 6-phosphonoxyalkyl derivatives of 7-oxo-8-D-ribityllumazine were synthesized as inhibitors of both Escherichia coli riboflavin synthase and Bacillus subtilis lumazine synthase. The compounds were designed to bind to both the ribitylpurine binding site and the phosphate binding site of lumazine synthase. In the carboxyalkyl series, maximum activity against both enzymes was observed with the 3'-carboxypropyl compound 22. Lengthening or shortening the chain linking the carboxyl group to the lumazine by one carbon resulted in decreased activity. In the phosphonoxyalkyl series, the 3'-phosphonoxypropyl compound 33 was more potent than the 4'-phosphonoxybutyl derivative 39 against lumazine synthase, but it was less potent against riboflavin synthase. Molecular modeling suggested that the terminal carboxyl group of 6-(3'-carboxypropyl)-7-oxo-8-D-ribityllumazine (22) may bind to the side chains of Arg127 and Lys135 of the enzyme. A hypothetical molecular model was also constructed for the binding of 6-(2'-carboxyethyl)-7-oxolumazine (15) in the active site of E. coli riboflavin synthase, which demonstrated that the active site could readily accommodate two molecules of the inhibitor.  相似文献

The complexing process proceeding in the NiII–thiocarbohydrazide (H2N–H–NC(=S)–NH–NH2)–propanone triple system in EtOH solution and nickel(II)hexacyanoferrate(II) gelatin-immobilized matrix has been studied. It has been found that in the first case, template synthesis leading, as a minimum, to formation of three coordination compounds of NiII with (N,N,S,S)-donor tetradentate ligands having NiL1, NiL2 and NiL3compositions where L1 is 4,6,6-trimethyl-2,3,7,8-tetraazanonen-3-di(thiohydrazide)-1,9, L2 is 4,6,6,12-tetrametyl-1,9-dithio-2,3,7,8,10,11-hexaazatridekadien-3,11-hydrazide-1 and L3 is 2,8,10,10,16-pentamethyl-5,13-dithio-3,4,6,7,11,12,14,15-octaazaheptadekatrien-2,7,15 is observed, whereas in the gelatin-immobilized matrix, a complexing process in the system considered does not occur.  相似文献

Zusammenfassung Es wurden vergleichbare Versuche über die Bestimmung von Sauerstoff in Urancarbiden nach der Heißextraktionsmethode sowohl unter Vakuum als auch mit Hilfe des Trägergasverfahrens durchgeführt. Dabei zeigte es sich, daß für unsere Zwecke die Vakuumextraktion der Trägergasmethode überlegen ist. Von den untersuchten Badmetallen Eisen, Kobalt und Nickel lieferte das Kobalt bei Temperaturen von 1900 und 2000° C die besten Ergebnisse. Das Analysengut wurde in Stückchen in die Bäder gegeben. Die Verwendung von Pulvern erwies sich als ungünstig. Durch metallographische und autoradiographische Untersuchungen konnte dieses Verhalten u. a. durch Graphitausscheidungen in den Bädern erklärt werden. Thermodynamische Abschätzungen stimmten mit den Experimenten überein.
Summary Comparable experiments on the analysis of oxygen impurities in uranium carbides by vacuum-fusion and inertgas-fusion methods have been performed, using various temperatures and bath compositions (iron, cobalt, and nickel). The latter fusion method proved to be unsatisfactory. Best results were obtained by the vacuum-fusion method, using a cobalt bath at 1900–2000° C. Thermodynamic evaluations were in good agreement with the experimental results. Metallographic and autoradiographic investigations explained that the unfavourable behaviour of powdered samples compared to massive samples was above all due to the increasing graphite precipitation in the bath.

Zusammenfassung Es wurden mit Hilfe von 59Fe Untersuchungen über den Einfluß der Gegenelektrodenform auf das Verdampfungsverhalten von Eisen aus Graphitanoden bei Lichtbogenanregung durchgeführt. Dabei ergab sich, daß beträchtliche Mengen des anodisch verdampften Eisens auf der Gegenelektrode niedergeschlagen wurden und teilweise durch kathodische Verdampfung erneut in die Anregungszone gelangten. Außerdem traten während der Bogenanregung Konzentrationsverschiebungen in den Anodenpreßlingen auf.Meßergebnisse der 59Fe-Verteilung aus Versuchen mit borhaltigen Elektroden (2 w/o bzw. 5 w/o B als B4C) wiesen auf ein interessantes Temperaturverhalten von Borverbindungen in Graphitanoden beim Arbeiten im Lichtbogen hin. Es wurde dabei festgestellt, daß das Bor während des Anregungsvorganges in Richtung Anodenbrennfläche, also in die heiße Zone transportiert wird.
Summary The influence of the cathode form on the evaporation behaviour of iron from graphite anodes under d. c. arc excitation was investigated by means of the 59Fe-isotope. It was shown that a considerable amount of the iron, volatilized at the anode, was precipitated on the cathode and then returned in part to the excitation zone by revolatilization at the cathode. Concentration displacements in the pressed anode also took place during arcing.An interesting temperature effect on boron compounds in graphite anodes under arc conditions was indicated by the experimental results of 59Fe-distribution measurements with electrodes containing boron (2 w/o and 5 w/o B as B4C). It was determined that, during arc excitation boron was transported in the direction of the anode spot, i.e., into the hot zone.
