Halogenated secondary metabolites from Laurencia obtusa

A new sesquiterpene (1), and a halogenated C15 acetogenin (2), a stereoisomer of neoisoprelaurefucin were isolated from Laurencia obtusa. Four known compounds laurencienyne (3), rogiolenyne B (4), obtusenol (5), and (3E)-dactomelyne (6) were also isolated from this alga. Rogiolenyne B (4) and (3E)-dactomelyne (6) were found for the first from this species. The structures of these compounds were elucidated by spectroscopic methods. The unambiguous assignments of the 1H and 13C NMR spectral data of (5) and 13C NMR data of (6) were also reported for the first time.     

Parallel synthesis of an indole-based library via an iterative Mannich reaction sequence

A library of 1,3-disubstituted indoles has been prepared via an iterative Mannich reaction sequence. The first Mannich reaction with secondary amines and formaldehyde preferentially yields 3-aminomethyl indoles, while the second Mannich reaction introduces an additional aminomethyl group at the N1-position of the indole ring. A library of 25 substituted indoles has thus been prepared in moderate to good yields with purity.     

Effect of diffusion on absorption and saturation of infrared radiation in molecular gases

Effect of diffusion on absorption of infrared radiation and saturation of absorption in molecular gases is considered. Incorporating the diffusion term, a theory is developed from multi-level rate equations, both for homogeneous and inhomogeneous broadening cases. It is shown that the effect of diffusion is characterized by a diffusion functionK'(k ₂ a), which varies inversely with the radius of the laser beam at low pressures and small beam sizes. Experimental results with seven molecular gases pumped by the CO₂ laser beam around 10.6 μm are reported.     

Traveling waves in rational expressions of exponential functions to the conformable time fractional Jimbo–Miwa and Zakharov–Kuznetsov equations

The conformable time fractional Jimbo–Miwa and Zakharov–Kuznetsov equations are solved by the generalized form of the Kudryashov method. A simple compatible wave transformation is employed to reduce the dimension of the equations to one. The predicted solution is of the form of a rational expression of two finite series at both the numerator and the denominator. The terms of both series are of the powers of some functions having exponential expressions satisfying a particular ODE. The exact solutions are expressed explicitly in terms of powers of some exponential functions in form of rational expressions.     

A mathematical model for unsteady mixed flows in closed water pipes

We present the formal derivation of a new unidirectional model for unsteady mixed flows in nonuniform closed water pipes.In the case of free surface incompressible flows,the FS-model is formally obtained,using formal asymptotic analysis,which is an extension to more classical shallow water models.In the same way,when the pipe is full,we propose the P-model,which describes the evolution of a compressible inviscid flow,close to gas dynamics equations in a nozzle.In order to cope with the transition between a free surface state and a pressured(i.e.,compressible) state,we propose a mixed model,the PFS-model,taking into account changes of section and slope variation.     

Fluorodensitometric determination of baclofen

A fluorodensitometric method was developed for the determination of baclofen. The method is based on the reaction of baclofen with 4-chloro-7-nitrobenzofurazan and measurement of the fluorescence intensity at 540 nm after chromatographic separation on a silica-gel plate. A linear relationship was found between relative fluorescence intensity and concentration over the range 4-100 ng of baclofen per spot. The detection and determination limits are 0.4 and 4.0 ng of baclofen per spot, respectively. The method was applied to human plasma. The recovery of baclofen from plasma was 96.67%.     

Synthesis of new polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane derivatives as some possible antimicrobial agents

1,3-Dipolar cycloaddition reactions were studied to synthesize Polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS)-based norbornyl imide derivatives containing izoxazoline groups in good yields. And also 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reactions of azomethine ylides with POSS-based norbornene dipolarophiles for a synthesis of the novel POSS-based norbornane-fused spiro-1,3-indandionolylpyrrolidines are reported. All newly synthesized POSS compounds were structurally characterized by FTIR, ¹H, ¹³C NMR, HRMS and GC/MS analyses.
