Halogenated secondary metabolites from Laurencia obtusa

A new sesquiterpene (1), and a halogenated C15 acetogenin (2), a stereoisomer of neoisoprelaurefucin were isolated from Laurencia obtusa. Four known compounds laurencienyne (3), rogiolenyne B (4), obtusenol (5), and (3E)-dactomelyne (6) were also isolated from this alga. Rogiolenyne B (4) and (3E)-dactomelyne (6) were found for the first from this species. The structures of these compounds were elucidated by spectroscopic methods. The unambiguous assignments of the 1H and 13C NMR spectral data of (5) and 13C NMR data of (6) were also reported for the first time.     

One-Parameter Homothetic Motion in the Hyperbolic Plane and Euler-Savary Formula

In [10] one-parameter planar motion was first introduced and the relations between absolute, relative, sliding velocities (and accelerations) in the Euclidean plane \mathbb E²{{\mathbb E}^2} were obtained. Moreover, the relations between the complex velocities of one-parameter motion in the complex plane were provided by [10]. One-parameter planar homothetic motion was defined in the complex plane, [9]. In this paper, analogous to homothetic motion in the complex plane given by [9], one-parameter planar homothetic motion is defined in the hyperbolic plane. Some characteristic properties about the velocity vectors, the acceleration vectors and the pole curves are given. Moreover, in the case of homothetic scale h identically equal to 1, the results given in [15] are obtained as a special case. In addition, three hyperbolic planes, of which two are moving and the other one is fixed, are taken into consideration and a canonical relative system for one-parameter planar hyperbolic homothetic motion is defined. Euler-Savary formula, which gives the relationship between the curvatures of trajectory curves, is obtained with the help of this relative system.     

A mathematical model for unsteady mixed flows in closed water pipes

We present the formal derivation of a new unidirectional model for unsteady mixed flows in nonuniform closed water pipes.In the case of free surface incompressible flows,the FS-model is formally obtained,using formal asymptotic analysis,which is an extension to more classical shallow water models.In the same way,when the pipe is full,we propose the P-model,which describes the evolution of a compressible inviscid flow,close to gas dynamics equations in a nozzle.In order to cope with the transition between a free surface state and a pressured(i.e.,compressible) state,we propose a mixed model,the PFS-model,taking into account changes of section and slope variation.     

Fluorodensitometric determination of baclofen

A fluorodensitometric method was developed for the determination of baclofen. The method is based on the reaction of baclofen with 4-chloro-7-nitrobenzofurazan and measurement of the fluorescence intensity at 540 nm after chromatographic separation on a silica-gel plate. A linear relationship was found between relative fluorescence intensity and concentration over the range 4-100 ng of baclofen per spot. The detection and determination limits are 0.4 and 4.0 ng of baclofen per spot, respectively. The method was applied to human plasma. The recovery of baclofen from plasma was 96.67%.     

Defect‐induced ferrimagnetism in the half‐metallic Co2CrAl and Co2CrSi compounds

Co₂CrAl and Co₂CrSi are amongst the most studied Heusler alloys due to their half‐metallic character. These compounds are also well‐known to present ferromagnetism with high Curie temperatures. We show using first‐principles calculations that the creation of Cr antisites (Cr atoms at the Co sites) induces ferrimagnetism in these compounds without destroying the half‐metallic character of these alloys. The reduction of the total spin moment causes lower external fields and thus smaller energy losses in realistic magnetoelectronic, also known as spintronic, devices. Synthesis of new polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane derivatives as some possible antimicrobial agents

1,3-Dipolar cycloaddition reactions were studied to synthesize Polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS)-based norbornyl imide derivatives containing izoxazoline groups in good yields. And also 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reactions of azomethine ylides with POSS-based norbornene dipolarophiles for a synthesis of the novel POSS-based norbornane-fused spiro-1,3-indandionolylpyrrolidines are reported. All newly synthesized POSS compounds were structurally characterized by FTIR, ¹H, ¹³C NMR, HRMS and GC/MS analyses.     

Existence of a global weak solution to Compressible Primitive Equations

In this Note, we show a global weak existence result for a two dimensional Compressible Primitive Equations for atmosphere dynamics modeling.     

Unsteady Flow Due to Concentric Rotation of Eccentric Rotating Disks

While two parallel disks are initially rotating with the same angular velocity about non-coincident axes, the axes are suddenly made coincident. The development of the flow is examined until the fluid rotates as a rigid body in the steady-state. The velocity field and the shear stress components on the disks are found exactly by a Fourier series solution. Furthermore, a series solution that converges rapidly at small times is obtained with the aid of the Laplace transform technique.
