Separation of 23 dansylated amino acids by micellar electrokinetic chromatography at low temperature

Summary The baseline separation of 23 dansylated amino acids (including 3 didansylated species) is reported. Lowering of the analysis temperature and fine control of the surfactant concentration were essential in obtaining this result. Calibration graphs with good linearity were obtained.     

Isometries of the Dirichlet space among the composition operators

We show that every composition operator which is an isometry of the Dirichlet space is induced by a univalent full map of the disk into itself that fixes the origin. This is an analogue of the Hardy space result for inner functions due to Nordgren. The proof relies on the Stone-Weierstrass theorem and the Riesz representation theorem.

     

Sufficiency in Quantum Statistical Inference

This paper attempts to develop a theory of sufficiency in the setting of non-commutative algebras parallel to the ideas in classical mathematical statistics. Sufficiency of a coarse-graining means that all information is extracted about the mutual relation of a given family of states. In the paper sufficient coarse-grainings are characterized in several equivalent ways and the non-commutative analogue of the factorization theorem is obtained. As an application we discuss exponential families. Our factorization theorem also implies two further important results, previously known only in finite Hilbert space dimension, but proved here in generality: the Koashi-Imoto theorem on maps leaving a family of states invariant, and the characterization of the general form of states in the equality case of strong subadditivity. Remote stereocontrol by the sulfinyl group: Mukaiyama aldol reactions of (S)-2-[2-(p-tolylsulfinyl)phenyl]acetaldehyde in the asymmetric synthesis of β-hydroxyacids and 1,3-diols

(S)-2-[2-(p-Tolylsulfinyl)phenyl]acetaldehyde reacts with different O-silylated ketenethioacetals in the presence of Yb(OTf)₃ yielding β-hydroxythioesters in high yields and diastereoselectivities. The obtained compounds were readily transformed into β-hydroxyacids and their corresponding diols. These Mukaiyama aldol reactions are a direct evidence of the ability of the sulfinyl group to control 1,5- and 1,6-asymmetric induction processes.     

Some remarks to multivariate regression model

Some remarks to problems of point and interval estimation, testing and problems of outliers are presented in the case of multivariate regression model. This work was supported by the Council of Czech Government J14/98:153100011.     

Modified gravity on the brane and dark energy

We analyze the dynamics of an AdS₅ braneworld with matter fields when gravity is allowed to deviate from the Einstein form on the brane. We consider exact five-dimensional warped solutions which are associated with conformal bulk fields of weight –4 and describe on the brane the following three dynamics: those of inhomogeneous dust, of generalized dark radiation, and of homogeneous polytropic dark energy. We show that, with modified gravity on the brane, the existence of such dynamical geometries requires the presence of non-conformal matter fields confined to the brane.     

Relativistic optics in gravitational lensing: The focus of a cluster and its aberrations

In this article, general idea of focusing is studied within the framework of optics extension into general relativity (covariant optics). In a configuration of static spacetime, the general, mathematically rigorous treatment of rays, wavefronts and caustics of spherical symmetry is presented, particularly with regard to problems of obtaining them within general relativity. An original result is the aberration formulation to covariant optics, whose application is given in this paper; a particular solution of Einstein equations is finally chosen to provide concrete, exact results of cluster focal length and its aberration structure. In this way, a gravitational lensing situation is shown to be a true lens.
