Elastic Peak Electron Spectroscopy (EPES) is used to characterize the H termination of the (1 0 0) diamond surface. Two specific features of the technique make this possible, namely surface sensitivity and the ability to directly detect H. The calorimetric characteristics, the flammability, the thermal stability and the microhardness of polyethylene high density/clay nanocomposites (HDPE/clay) have been studied by differential scanning calorimetry, thermogravimetry, determination of limiting oxygen index and microhardness tests. The nanocomposites have been compatibilized by ethylene–acrylic acid copolymer (EAA), acrylic acid grafted HDPE (HDAA) and maleic anhydride grafted HDPE (HDMA). The clay was montmorillonite Cloisite 15A. The influence of the presence and the type of the compatibilizers on the properties of the nanocomposites has been evaluated. The results have shown that the thermal stability, the reduction of the flammability and the microhardness of HDPE/clay nanocomposites, compatibilized by HDAA and HDMA are higher than those for nanocomposite compatibilized by EAA. Moreover, the presence and the type of compatibilizer have negligible effect on the characteristics of the HDPE phase transitions. These results have been interpreted by the better clay dispersion and higher level of clay exfoliation in the presence of compatibilizers HDAA and HDMA, than those in the presence of EAA compatibilizer. 相似文献

Three new magnetic resonance imaging probes that target glutamine transporters have been synthesized. They consist of a Gd‐DOTA‐monoamide moiety (DOTA=1,4,7,10‐tetraazacyclododecane‐1,4,7,10‐tetraacetic acid) linked through a six carbon atom chain to a vector represented by a glutamine residue bound through α‐carboxylic, γ‐carboxamidic, or α‐amino functionalities. Their uptake by HTC (rat hepatocarcinoma) and healthy rat hepatocytes has shown that the system containing the glutamine vector bound through the α‐carboxylic group displays a markedly higher affinity for tumor cells. The observed behavior is rationalized in terms of the exploitation of an additional glutamine transporter active in hepatic tumor cells. 相似文献

Anion–π interactions between a π‐acidic aromatic system and an anion are gaining increasing recognition in chemistry and biology. Herein, the binding features of an electron‐deficient aromatic system (1,3,5‐trinitrobenzene (TNB)) and selected anions (OH?, Br?, and I?) are examined in the gas phase by using the combined information derived from collision‐induced dissociation experiments at variable energy, infrared multiple‐photon dissociation spectroscopy, and quantum chemical calculations. We provide spectroscopic evidence for two different structural motifs of anion–arene complexes depending on the nature of the anion. The TNB–OR? complexes (R=H, or alkyl groups which were studied earlier) adopt an anionic σ‐complex structure whereby RO? attacks the aromatic ring with covalent bond formation, and develops a tetrahedral ring carbon bound to H and OR. The halide complexes rather conform to a structure in which the TNB moiety is hardly altered, and the halogen is placed on an unsubstituted carbon atom over the periphery of the ring at a C–X distance that is appreciably longer than a typical covalent bond length. The ensuing structural motif, previously characterized in the solid state and named weak σ interaction, is now confirmed by an IR spectroscopic assay in the gas phase, in which the sampled species are unperturbed by crystal packing or solvation effects. 相似文献

The selective conversion of ethanol into potassium acetate with concomitant production of electrical energy has been achieved in both passive and active direct fuel cells containing platinum-free electrodes and an anion-exchange polymer membrane. The power densities supplied by the passive systems at r.t. can be as high as 55 mW cm?2, while the active systems can deliver up to 170 mW cm?2 at 80 °C. Such high values have never been reported for direct ethanol fuel cells with whatsoever electrocatalyst in either alkaline or acidic media. 相似文献

Microfabricated silicon cantilever sensor arrays represent a powerful platform for sensing applications in physics, chemistry, material science, biology and medicine. The sensor response is mechanical bending due to absorption of molecules. In gaseous environment, polymer-coated microcantilevers are used as electronic nose for characterization of vapors, resulting in cantilever bending due to polymer swelling upon exposure. Medical applications involve fast characterization of exhaled patient's breath samples for detection of diseases, based on the presence of certain chemicals in breath. Diastereomeric clusters of general formula [MAB(2)](+) and [MA(2)B](+) (M = Li(I), Na(I), Ag(I), Ni(II)-H, or Cu(II)-H; A = (R)-(-)- and (S)-(+)-(1-aminopropyl)phosphonic acid; B = (1R)-(-)- and (1S)-(+)-(1-aminohexyl)phosphonic acid) have been readily generated in the electrospray ionization (ESI) source of a triple-quadrupole mass spectrometer and their collision-induced dissociation (CID) investigated. CID of diastereomeric complexes, e.g. [MA(S)(B(S))(2)](+) and [MA(R)(B(S))(2)](+), leads to fragmentation patterns characterized by R(homo) = [MA(S)B(S)](+)/[M(B(S))(2)](+) and R(hetero) = [MA(R)B(S)](+)/[M(B(S))(2)](+) abundance ratios, which depend upon the relative stability of the diastereomeric [MA(S)B(S)](+) and [MA(R)B(S)](+) complexes in the gas phase. The chiral resolution factor R(chiral) = R(homo)/R(hetero) is found to depend not only on the nature of the M ion but also on that of the fragmenting species, whether [MAB(2)](+) or [MA(2)B](+). The stereoselective addition of aryl- and alkylacetylene derivatives to imines was studied. The reaction is catalyzed by copper complexes of enantiomerically pure bisimines, readily prepared in very high yields from the commercially available binaphthyl diamine. A very simple experimental procedure allowed to obtain at room temperature optically active propargylamines in high yields and enantioselectivity. Interestingly, bisimine/copper(I) complexes were able to promote the direct, enantioselective, catalytic addition to imines of alkylacetylenes. The effects of catalyst loading and other reaction parameters on the stereochemical outcome of the transformation were investigated. The extremely convenient methodology, the mild reaction conditions, and the possibility of a modular approach for developing new and more efficient bisimine-based chiral ligands make the present methodology very attractive. 相似文献

The metabolite profile of fresh Goji berries from two cultivars, namely Big Lifeberry (BL) and Sweet Lifeberry (SL), grown in the Lazio region (Central Italy) and harvested at two different periods, August and October, corresponding at the beginning and the end of the maturation, was characterized by means of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and electrospray ionization Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance (ESI FT-ICR MS) methodologies. Several classes of compounds such as sugars, amino acids, organic acids, fatty acids, polyphenols, and terpenes were identified and quantified in hydroalcoholic and organic Bligh-Dyer extracts. Sweet Lifeberry extracts were characterized by a higher content of sucrose with respect to the Big Lifeberry ones and high levels of amino acids (glycine, betaine, proline) were observed in SL berries harvested in October. Spectrophotometric analysis of chlorophylls and total carotenoids was also carried out, showing a decrease of carotenoids during the time. These results can be useful not only to valorize local products but also to suggest the best harvesting period to obtain a product with a chemical composition suitable for specific industrial use. Finally, preliminary studies regarding both the chemical characterization of Goji leaves generally considered a waste product, and the biological activity of Big Lifeberry berries extracts was also investigated. Goji leaves showed a chemical profile rich in healthy compounds (polyphenols, flavonoids, etc.) confirming their promising use in the supplements/nutraceutical/cosmetic field. MG63 cells treated with Big Lifeberry berries extracts showed a decrease of iNOS, COX-2, IL-6, and IL-8 expression indicating their significant biological activity. 相似文献
