Improving histogram-based image contrast enhancement using gray-level information histogram with application to X-ray images

Many applications of histogram-based techniques for the purposes of image enhancement are well known. However, these techniques often fail to produce satisfactory results for a broad variety of low-contrast images (e.g., X-ray images). In this paper, we propose a new form of histogram for image contrast enhancement. The input image is first divided into several equal-sized regions according to the intensities of gradients, their corresponding statistical values of gray levels are then modified respectively, and finally the processed histogram for the whole image is obtained by the summation of all the weighted values of regions. The fundamental characteristic of this new form of histogram is that the amplitudes of its components can objectively reflect the contribution of the gray levels to the representation of image information. Accordingly, this new histogram is called gray-level information histogram. The performance of many histogram-based enhancement techniques might be improved dramatically using the proposed histogram. Testing on the X-ray images validates the effectiveness of the new histogram.     

Crystal structure and the role of cation group factor in the third‐order nonlinear optical properties of cadmium complexes constructed by 1,3‐dithiole‐2‐thione‐4,5‐dithiolato ligand

A cadmium complex bis(benzyltriethylammonium) bis(1,3‐dithiole‐2‐thione‐4,5‐dithiolato)‐cadmium(II) ((TEBA)₂[Cd(DMIT)₂]) has been synthesized and its crystal structure has been determined by means of X‐ray single‐crystal diffraction. The central cadmium(II) ion coordinates with two DMIT, which constructed a distorted tetrahedron environment. Its third‐order nonlinear optical properties have been studied using Z‐scan technique with 20 ps pulses at wavelength 1064 nm. Its third‐order nonlinear susceptibility χ⁽³⁾ value was determined to be 1.24 × 10⁻¹⁹ m² V⁻², the figure of merit, χ⁽³⁾/α₀, was estimated to be 2.64 × 10⁻²⁰ m³ V⁻². A facile method to fabricate tough hydrogel with ultra-wide adjustable stiffness,stress, and fast recoverability

In this article, we report a synergistic strategy to develop dual physically cross-linked tough hydrogels via one-pot bulk copolymerization of N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone, acrylic acid, and stearyl methylacrylate (SMA) without any adscititious surfactant. Due to synergic effects of hydrogen bonding and hydrophobic association, the resulted dual physically cross-linked hydrogels (DP Gel) with ultra-wide range adjustable Young's modulus (0.08–45.6 MPa), tensile stress (0.7–6.9 MPa), and toughness (3.3–23.1 MJ m⁻³). Stretching to 300%, DP Gel exhibited fast recoverability that remained ~95% of initial dissipated energy after resting in 60 °C for 3 min. Finally, scanning electron microscopy revealed that the microstructure of hydrogel changed from phase separation structure to micro phase separation as SMA added, which accounted for excellent performance of DP Gel. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. 可瓷化硅橡胶材料的研究

研究了一种可瓷化硅橡胶,其特点是在火灾发生时可在金属线外形成瓷化绝缘保护层,600℃的成瓷温度大幅度低于目前文献报道的成瓷温度。实验得到的优化瓷化填料配方为:相对于100份混炼胶,氧化铝10份、硅灰石15份、结构控制剂9份、碳酸锂3份。在此配方条件下,未瓷化硅橡胶的断裂伸长率316%、拉伸强度10.79MPa、体积电阻率134×10~(12)Ω·cm,其在600℃、800℃瓷化后的抗压强度分别为3.47MPa、10.13MPa、体积电阻率≥28×10~(12)Ω·cm,满足电缆用硅橡胶的力学和绝缘要求。经热重分析及SEM分析可知加入瓷化填料后,试样烧蚀重量减少了39.4%,烧蚀残留率大大提高,且成瓷试样结构致密。
