Specific Features of the Adsorption and Nuclear Magnetic Relaxation of Water Molecules in Active Carbons. 1. Relation between the Spin-Spin Relaxation of Adsorbed Water Molecules and Structural Parameters of Microporous Active Carbons

Relation between the spin-spin nuclear magnetic relaxation time T ₂ of adsorbed water molecules and parameters of microporous structure of carbon adsorbents is disclosed. The pattern of dependences of T ₂ on the relative pressure and the number of water molecules per one primary adsorption site (PAS) is governed by the pore sizes and the number and nature of PASs. At a complete micropore filling, the T ₂ value depends on the volume density of PASs in active carbons. In the absence of PASs in the micropores, T ₂ is equal approximately to 21 ms. The larger the volume density of PASs, the smaller the number of water molecules per one PAS at the complete filling of micropores; i.e., the looser the packing of water molecules. The results of studying active carbons by the pulsed ¹H NMR method agree well with the data of the adsorption method.

Use of the Vaskovsky-Svetashev reagent for complex detection of phospholipids and in their preparative separation by the TLC method

It has been established that the Vaskovsky-Svetashev reagent has no influence on the general and positional composition of the fatty acids of phospholipids. Hydroxy acids of the seed oils of five plants of the family Asteraceae

A comparative study has been made of the fatty hydroxy acids and epoxy acids of the seed oils ofArtemisia absinthium, Arctium tomentosum, Onopordum acanthium, Onopardum olgae, andCousinia severzovii by GLC, TLC, and IR and mass spectroscopy. A five-coordinate complex of copper chloride with 2-amino-5-ethyl-1,3,4-thiadiazole

A complex of Cu(II) chloride with 2-amino-5-ethyl-1,3,4-thiadiazole (AET) was prepared, and its structure was studied by IR spectroscopy and single crystal X-ray diffraction. The complex has the composition CuCl₂(AET)₄. The coordination sphere of the copper atom includes four molecules of the heterocyclic ligand coordinated via N atoms of thiadiazole rings and one of Cl^? anions; the second Cl^? anion is in the outer sphere.
