Pyranosyl‐RNA (‘p‐RNA’ ) is an oligonucleotide system isomeric to natural RNA and composed of the very same building blocks as RNA. Its generational, chemical, and informational properties are deemed to be those of an alternative nucleic acid system that could have been a candidate in Nature's evolutionary choice of the molecular basis of genetic function. We consider the study of the chemistry of p‐RNA as etiologically relevant in the sense that knowledge of its structural, chemical, and informational properties on the chemical level offers both a perspective and reference points for the recognition of specific structural assets of the RNA structure that made it the (supposedly) superior system among possible alternatives and, therefore, the system that became part of biology as we know it today. The paper describes the chemical synthesis of β‐d‐ (and L )‐ribopyranosyl‐(4′→2′)‐oligonucleotide sequences, presents a resume of their structural and chemical properties, and cautiously discusses what we may and may not have learned from the pyranosyl isomer of RNA with respect to the conundrum of RNA's origin. 相似文献

We consider toy cosmological models in which a classical, homogeneous, spinor field provides a dominant or sub-dominant contribution to the energy-momentum tensor of a flat Friedmann-Robertson-Walker universe. We find that, if such a field were to exist, appropriate choices of the spinor self-interaction would generate a rich variety of behaviors, quite different from their widely studied scalar field counterparts. We first discuss solutions that incorporate a stage of cosmic inflation and estimate the primordial spectrum of density perturbations seeded during such a stage. Inflation driven by a spinor field turns out to be unappealing as it leads to a blue spectrum of perturbations and requires considerable fine-tuning of parameters. We next find that, for simple, quartic spinor self-interactions, non-singular cyclic cosmologies exist with reasonable parameter choices. These solutions might eventually be incorporated into a successful past- and future-eternal cosmological model free of singularities. In an Appendix, we discuss the classical treatment of spinors and argue that certain quantum systems might be approximated in terms of such fields. 相似文献

Im vorliegenden Beitrag entstchen auf diesem Wege bestmögliche, in Geschwindigkeiten formulierte innere Schalengleichungen für beliebig große Deformationen und willkürliche, in eine Leistungsaussage einpaßbare Materialgesetze. Dabei finden Schub- und Querdeformationen Berücksichtigung. Der optimale Charakter der Schalentheorie mit gleichen Unschärfen in allen Einzelbeziehungen wird durch den Herleitungsgang sichergestellt und durch Einschrankungen mittels lokaler Tensornormen bewiesen.

Summary Consistent shell theories can be derived in a particular correct manner by linear approximation of conservation laws of a three-dimensional continuum, described as a multi-director-body. In the present paper best interior shell equations-formulated in velocities—are developed, valid for arbitrarily large deformations and rather optional material laws, incorporating shear distorsions and thickness changes. The optimal character of the theory is guaranteed by the derivation process and proven by bounding techniques using tensor norms.相似文献

High-energy gamma-rays emitted in the decay of the giant dipole resonance built on excited states of55Mn nucleus were measured with a bismuth germanate detector.
