A macrostate consisting of N approximately 3.5x10{4} photons in a quantum superposition and entangled with a far apart single-photon state (microstate) is generated. Precisely, an entangled photon pair is created by a nonlinear optical process; then one photon of the pair is injected into an optical parametric amplifier operating for any input polarization state, i.e., into a phase-covariant cloning machine. Such transformation establishes a connection between the single photon and the multiparticle fields. We then demonstrate the nonseparability of the bipartite system by adopting a local filtering technique within a positive operator valued measurement.  相似文献

A complete set of democratic quantum numbers is introduced to classify the states of an irreducible unitary representation (IUR) of the Poincaré group obtained from the decomposition of the direct product of three IUR. Such states are identified with the baryon states constituted of three free relativistic quarks. The transformation from current to constituent quarks is then easily reobtained. Moreover, the group SU(6) × SU(3) appears naturally as a collinear classification group for baryons. Results similar to those of the symmetric harmonic oscillator quark model are obtained.  相似文献

Quantum resources outperform classical ones for certain communication and computational tasks. Remarkably, in some cases, the quantum advantage cannot be improved using hypothetical postquantum resources. A class of tasks with this property can be singled out using graph theory. Here we report the experimental observation of an impossible-to-beat quantum advantage on a four-dimensional quantum system defined by the polarization and orbital angular momentum of a single photon. The results show pristine evidence of the quantum advantage and are compatible with the maximum advantage allowed using postquantum resources.  相似文献

In this work we experimentally implement a deterministic transfer of a generic qubit initially encoded in the orbital angular momentum of a single-photon to its polarization. Such a transfer of quantum information, which is completely reversible, has been implemented adopting an electrically tunable q-plate device and a Sagnac interferometer with a Dove prism. The adopted scheme exhibits high fidelity and low losses.  相似文献

We generalize to the case of superalgebras several properties of simple Lie algebras involving the use of Dynkin diagrams. If to a simple Lie algebra can be associated one Dynkin diagram, it is a finite set of nonequivalent ones which can be constructed for a basic superalgebra (or B.S.A.). The knowledge of these diagrams, which can be obtained for each B.S.A. in a systematic way, allows us to deduce the regular subsuperalgebras of a B.S.A. The symmetries of the Dynkin diagrams are related to outer automorphisms of B.S.A. and lead to some singular subsuperalgebras. Finally we consider the extended Dynkin diagrams in order to classify the affine B.S.A. and use their symmetries to construct the twisted basic superalgebras.  相似文献

We report the first experimental realization of an "optimal" quantum device able to perform a minimal disturbance measurement on polarization encoded qubits saturating the theoretical boundary established between the classical knowledge acquired of any input state, i.e., a "classical guess," and the fidelity of the same state after disturbance due to measurement. The device has been physically realized by means of a linear optical qubit manipulation, postselection measurement, and a classical feed-forward process.  相似文献

A simultaneous realization of the universal optimal quantum cloning machine and of the universal-NOT gate by a quantum injected optical parametric amplification, is reported. The two processes, forbidden in their exact form for fundamental quantum limitations, are found universal and optimal, and the measured fidelity F<1 is found close to the limit values evaluated by quantum theory. This work may enlighten the yet little explored interconnections of fundamental axiomatic properties within the deep structure of quantum mechanics.  相似文献

In 1981 N. Herbert proposed a gedanken experiment in order to achieve by the "First Laser-Amplified Superluminal Hookup" (FLASH) a faster-than-light (FTL) communication by quantum nonlocality. The present work reports the first experimental realization of that proposal by the optical parametric amplification of a single photon belonging to an entangled EPR pair into an output field involving N=5 x 10{3} photons. A theoretical and experimental analysis explains in general and conclusive terms the precise reasons for the failure of the FLASH program as well as of any similar FTL proposals.  相似文献

In this paper we analyze the resilience to decoherence of the Macroscopic Quantum Superpositions (MQS) generated by optimal phase-covariant quantum cloning according to two coherence criteria, both based on the concept of Bures distance in Hilbert spaces. We show that all MQS generated by this system are characterized by a high resilience to decoherence processes. This analysis is supported by the results of recent MQS experiments of N=3.5×104 particles.  相似文献
