Recent results from the TCV tokamak

During the first two years of operation, the TCV tokamak has produced a large variety of plasma shapes and magnetic configurations, with 1.0B _tor1.46T,I _p800kA,k2.05, –0.71. A new shape control algorithm, based on a finite element reconstruction of the plasma current in real time, has been implemented. Vertical growth rates up to 1000s^–1 have been stabilized using the external coil system. Ohmic H-modes with Troyon factors ( _tor aB/I _p) up to two and densities up to 2.25×10²⁰m^–3, corresponding to the Greenwald limit, have been obtained in diverted discharges. Limiter H-modes with line averaged electron densities up to 1.7×10²⁰m^–3 have been obtained in elongated D-shaped plasmas with 360 kAI _P600 kA.Presented at 17^th Symposium Plasma Physics and Technology, Prague, June 13–16, 1995.This work was partly supported by the Fonds National Suisse de la Recherche Scientifique.

Untersuchungen über Phenthiazinderivate. 10. Mitteilung

Zusammenfassung Es wurde ein allgemein anwendbarer Weg zur Herstellung von in -Stellung basisch substituierten 4,10-Trimethylenphenthiazinen durch Umsetzung der aus den -Hydroxyverbindungen erhaltenen -Bromverbindungen mit sekundären Aminen angegeben. Für das in der Literatur bekannte -Amino-4,10-Trimethylen-phenthiazin wurden neue Darstellungen beschrieben.

Zusammenfassung Je nach den Reaktionsbedingungen entstehen verschiedene Produkte bei der Reduktion des 4,10-(-Hydroximino-trimethylen)-phenthiazins. Durch Vergleich mit Verbindungen bekannter Struktur wurde der Beweis erbracht, daß die von uns schon früher für das Produkt der Natriumamalgamreduktion angenommene Struktur richtig ist.Mit 2 Abbildungen     

Chemie der Cumalinsäurederivate. I. Synthese und Diels-Alder-Reaktionen von 1-Arylamino-2-methoxycarbonylbutadienen

The nucleophilic attack of substituted anilines at position 6 of methyl coumalate (1) opens the α-pyrone ring to form 4-arylamino-3-(methoxycarbonyl)butadien-1-carboxylic acid 2 (Scheme 1). The latter are easily decarboxylated at room temperature in polar aprotic solvents to 1-arylamino-2-(methoxycarbonyl)butadiene 4 which smoothly undergo regio- and stereospecific Diels-Alder reactions with different dienophiles.     

Neue Derivate der 2-Acylamino-thiophen-(und-benzo[b]thiophen-)-3-carbonsäure sowie des ([1]Benzo-)Thieno[2,3-d]-pyrimidin-4(3H)-ons

The title substances1 and2 were prepared by acylation of the corresponding ethyl 2-amino-thiophene- (or:-4,5,6,7-tetrahydro-benzo[b]thiophene)-3-carboxylates, in some cases followed by reactions introducing a basic substituent.Additionally a group of 2-aroylamino-thiophene-(or:-4,5,6,7-tetrahydro-benzo[b]thiophene)-3-carboxamides was subjected to ring closure reactions, yielding the corresponding 2-aryl-thieno[2,3-d]pyrimidin-4(3H)-ones and 2-aryl-[1]benzothieno[2,3-d]pyrimidin-4(3H)-ones (both:3).

An Adaptive Local (AL) Basis for Elliptic Problems with Complicated Discontinuous Coefficients

We develop a generalized finite element method for the discretization of elliptic partial differential equations in heterogeneous media. In [5] a semidiscrete method has been introduced to set up an adaptive local finite element basis (AL basis) on a coarse mesh with mesh size H which, typically, does not resolve the matrix of the media while the textbook finite element convergence rates are preserved. This method requires O(log(1/H)^d+1) basis functions per mesh point where d denotes the spatial dimension of the computational domain. We present a fully discrete version of this method, where the AL basis is constructed by solving finite-dimensional localized problems, and which preserves the optimal convergence rates. Zusammenfassung 6-Nitro-benzo[b]thiophen-1,1-dioxid wurde unter verschiedenen Bedingungen hydriert. Das durchSkraupsche Synthese aus 2,3-Dihydro-6-amino-benzo[b]thiophen-1,1-dioxid gewonnene Produkt konnte auf Grund des NMR-Spektrums als 2,3-Dihydrothieno[2,3-f]chinolin-1,1-dioxid identifiziert werden.

6-Nitro-benzo[b]thiophene-1,1-dioxide was hydrogenated under various conditions. The product prepared from 2,3-dihydro-6-amino-benzo[b]thiophene-1,1-dioxide by theSkraup synthesis was identified by nmr as 2,3-dihydro-thieno[2,3-f]quinoline-1,1-dioxide.

Levelcrossing experiments in the first excited1 P 1 states of the alkaline earths

The hyperfine structure of the lowest¹P₁ state of²⁵Mg,⁴³Ca,⁸⁷Sr,¹³⁵Ba and¹³⁷Ba have been measured by the level-crossing and anticrossing technique. The magnetic dipole and electric quadrupole coupling constants determined by these measurements are²⁵Mg(3s3p¹P₁):A=? 7.7(5) MHz; 16 MHz>B>0 MHz,⁴³Ca(4s4p¹P₁):A=? 15.3(4) MHz; ¦B¦<12 MHz,⁸⁷Sr (5s5p¹P₁:A=? 3.4(4) MHz;B=39(4) MHz,¹³⁵Ba(6s6p¹P₁):A=? 97.5(1.0) MHz;B=31(9)MHz,¹³⁷Ba(6s6p¹P₁):A=?109.2(1.2) MHz;B=51(12)MHz. The results have been compared with the predictions of the Breit-Wills theory of the two-electron hyperfine structure using the experimental data on the³P states. Large discrepancies have been observed which are due to different radial wave functions of thes andp electron in the triplet and singlet system. This effect has been taken into account by fitting the data with the aid of two additional parameters. That this procedure is justified is shown by an analysis of the fine structure splitting, the life times, and the isotopic shifts in thesp configurations of group II elements.
