Both melt viscosity (ηo) and elasticity (correlated here with the longest melt relaxation time λ1) were found to control the diameter distribution of meltblown fibers. Fibers were formed by melt blowing binary polystyrene (PS) blends containing widely differing component molecular weights using a custom-built laboratory apparatus. Varying the concentration and molecular weight of a high molecular weight PS provided independent control over ηo and λ1. These rheological parameters influence the average diameter (dav) and the distribution of diameters (coefficient of variation, CV) of meltblown fibers in different ways. Increasing ηo leads to an increase in dav but has little impact on CV. On the other hand, increasing λ1 beyond a threshold value reduces CV while simultaneously increasing dav. A one-dimensional slender-jet theoretical model with both upper convected Maxwell and Phan–Thien and Tanner constitutive equations was developed to investigate the influence of viscoelasticity and processing parameters on the properties of meltblown fibers. This model predicts a strong dependence of fiber diameter on the air shear stress and variations in fiber diameter with viscoelasticity that are in qualitative agreement with the experimental results. We believe these results suggest that carefully controlling the viscoelastic profile of polymers used in melt blowing is a viable approach for producing nanofibers with narrow fiber diameter distributions using current commercial equipment.  相似文献

One of the key elements influencing the efficiency of cellulosic ethanol production is the effective pretreatment of lignocellulosic biomass. The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of microwave-assisted pretreatment of wheat stillage in the presence of sodium cumene sulphonate (NaCS) hydrotrope used for the production of second-generation bioethanol. As a result of microwave pretreatment, the composition of the wheat stillage biomass changed significantly when compared with the raw material used, before treatment. Microwave-assisted pretreatment with NaCS effectively reduced the lignin content and hemicellulose, making cellulose the dominant component of biomass, which accounted for 42.91 ± 0.10%. In post pretreatment, changes in biomass composition were also visible on FTIR spectra. The peaks of functional groups and bonds characteristic of lignins (C–O vibration in the syringyl ring, asymmetric bending in CH3, and aromatic skeleton C–C stretching) decreased. The pretreatment of the analyzed lignocellulosic raw material with NaCS resulted in the complete conversion of glucose to ethanol after 48 h of the process, with yield (in relation to the theoretical one) of above 91%. The highest observed concentration of ethanol, 23.57 ± 0.10 g/L, indicated the high effectiveness of the method used for the pretreatment of wheat stillage that did not require additional nutrient supplementation.  相似文献

Summary A scheme of cation analysis is presented where phosphate and organic acids do not interfere with the course of analysis. The method is standardised on 2–3 mg level, and the procedure is rapid. Group separations are neat and in no case the precipitate is gelatinous. Some confirmatory tests of the elements have been modified.

[reaction: see text] A novel application of photochromic molecules is to mimic physiological oscillatory calcium signals by reversibly binding and releasing calcium ions in response to light. Substituent changes on the largely unexplored photochromic bisbenzospiropyran scaffold led to significant changes in thermal fading rates in several organic solvents. Excellent correlations have been found between fading rates and empirical Hammett constants as well as calculated ground-state energies.
