The structure of B8F12 has been shown by gas electron diffraction and computational methods (up to MP2/6-31+G*) to have the same highly asymmetric form observed in crystalline phases. The structure can be regarded as derived from a central B2 group, bridged by two BF2 groups to give a central B4 core that is folded, not planar, and with a very short bond [164.3 pm calculated, 164.2(19) pm experimental] along the fold line. There are also four terminal BF2 groups. One of the other four bonds in the core is consistently 20-30 pm longer than the others. This asymmetry has been attributed to many intra-molecular B...F interactions, particularly those between core boron atoms and fluorines of the terminal BF2 groups. Calculations for the chloro analogue lead to a structure similar to that for B8F12, but with the long core bond extended so that one of the bridging BCl2 groups may now be regarded as terminal. With bromine as the halogen the structure changes again, with one bromine atom taking up a bridging position. With iodine, this process continues further, and there are three bridging iodine atoms. However, in this case this is not the lowest energy structure, and instead a loosely associated dimer of B4I6 is preferred. In the guinea pig it has been shown that the nonlinear derived transient evoked otoacoustic emission (TEOAEnl) is comprised of significant amounts of intermodulation distortion energy. It is expected that intermodulation distortion arising from a nonlinear distortion mechanism will contribute to the overall TEOAE in a stimulus-level-dependent manner, being greatest when basilar-membrane vibration in response to a click stimulus is greatest; with decay of vibration of the basilar membrane subsequent to stimulation by a click, nonlinear interaction along the cochlear partition should reduce and so provide for a linear mechanism to dominate TEOAEnl generation, i.e., the contributions of each of these mechanisms should be delay dependent. To examine this delay dependence, TEOAEnl evoked by acoustic clicks of varying bandwidth were time-domain windowed using a recursive exponential filter in an attempt to separate two components with amplitude and phase properties consistent with different mechanisms of OAE generation. It was found that the part of the TEOAEnl occurring first in time can have a relatively constant amplitude and shallow phase slope, consistent with a nonlinear distortion mechanism. A comparative study of myo-inositol quantification using LCmodel at 1.5 T and 3.0 T with 3 D 1H proton spectroscopic imaging of the human brain 总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
Myo-inositol is a strongly coupled system and resonates at four chemical shift positions. At 1.5 T, only the singlet component at 3.57 ppm is detected. However, at 3 T this resonance is resolved into its components at 3.55 ppm and 3.61 ppm. Due to the increased spectral resolution and signal-to-noise ratio, it is anticipated that the quantification of myo-inositol should improve at 3 T. Using data from normal controls and the LCmodel quantification procedure, we found that the quantification precision, reproducibility and detection sensitivity of myo-inositol is significantly better at 3 T relative to 1.5 T. 相似文献

Absolute concentrations of cerebral metabolite in in vivo 1H magnetic resonance spectroscopy studies (1H-MRS) are widely reported in molar units as moles per liter of tissue, or in molal units as moles per kilogram of tissue. Such measurements require external referencing or assumptions as to local water content. To reduce the scan time, avoid assumptions that may be invalid under specific pathologies, and provide a universally accessible referencing procedure, we suggest that metabolite concentrations from 1H-MRS measurements in vivo be reported in molal units as moles per kilogram of tissue water. Using internal water referencing, a two-compartment water model, a simulated brain spectrum for peak identification, and a spectroscopic bi-exponential spin-spin relaxation segmentation technique, we measured the absolute concentrations for the four common 1H brain metabolites: choline (Cho), myo-inositol (mIno), phosphocreatine + creatine (Cr), and N-acetyl-aspartate (NAA), in the hippocampal region (n = 26) and along the Sylvian fissure (n = 61) of 35 healthy adults. A stimulated echo localization method (20 ms echo time, 10 ms mixing time, 4 s repetition time) yielded metabolite concentrations, uncorrected for metabolite relaxation or contributions from macromolecule resonances, that were expectantly higher than with molar literature values. Along the Sylvian fissure the average concentrations (coefficient of variation (CV)) in mmoles/kg of tissue water were 17.6 (12%) for NAA, 14.2 (9%) for Cr, 3.6 (13%) for Cho, and 13.2 (15%) for mIno. Respective values for the hippocampal region were 15.7 (20%), 14.7 (16%), 4.6 (19%), and 17.7 (26%). The concentrations of the two regions were significantly different (p = 0.001) for NAA, mIno, and Cho, a trend in agreement with previous studies. All gray matter Sylvian fissure CV values, except for NAA, were also in agreement with previous 1H-MRS gray matter studies. The reduced precision of the NAA concentration was attributed to overlapping signal contributions from glutamate and glutamine (Glx), suggesting that a detailed Glx model is critical for accurate quantitation of the NAA 2.02 ppm resonance. Ferritin is a multimeric protein consisting of heavy and light chains assembled in different tissue-specific ratios, which can protect cells from oxidative stress by storing reactive iron (Fe). Because the lens is constantly exposed to UV irradiation, we studied its effects on ferritin synthesis and Fe metabolism in cultured lens epithelial cells with and without ascorbic acid (Asc). UVB caused a large increase in accumulation of newly synthesized ferritin chains; this increase was additive to that induced by Asc. In contrast to the Asc-induced increase in Fe storage, Fe storage in ferritin was unaltered by UVB. Although UVB increased accumulation of newly synthesized ferritin chains, total ferritin levels were unaltered. In contrast, Asc, which induced a quantitatively similar increase in accumulation of newly synthesized ferritin chains, doubled the total amount of ferritin. Because UVB did not change Fe storage in ferritin or the size of the labile Fe pool, it was hypothesized and then determined that these newly synthesized chains did not assemble into functional holoferritin. Numerous studies detail the effects of various treatments on de novo ferritin synthesis; however, this study provides a cautionary note regarding the conclusions of such studies in the absence of data indicating assembly of functional ferritin molecules. 相似文献
