The oscillating electric-field induced stretching phenomenon of multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) clusters in liquid crystal medium demonstrates distinct threshold behaviour under optical microscopic investigation. The optimum field required for the initiation of MWCNT cluster stretching is found to depend on their length in the field-off state. The phenomenon has been explained in light of a classical theoretical model assuming MWCNT agglomerates as a single electric dipole. The spring constant and induced charge obtained by fitting the formulated theoretical model show good agreement with previous reports, hence establish the proposed dipolar reorientation mechanism of MWCNT clusters induced by the electric field.  相似文献

This paper presents an analytical treatment as well as experimental measurement of the plastic deformation field in shear-compression specimen (SCS) by using digital image processing (DIC) technique. The results provide a set of useful expressions that relates externally applied displacement and load quantities to the equivalent stress and equivalent plastic strain within the gage section. Based on the analysis, we propose modifying the slot angle of SCS geometry from its original value of 45º to 35.26º in order to enhance the uniformity of stress and strain fields in gage section. It is shown by analysis that this enhancement is essentially because the compatibility and boundary conditions that yield a homogeneous deformation field is naturally satisfied for the particular slot orientation of ???=?35.26°. This conclusion is also supported by experimental evidence that comparatively shows the edge effects for varying slot angles.  相似文献

In this work, a silver-copper (Ag-Cu) nanocomposite with 200 nm bilayer thickness and eutectic composition was rolled at room temperature and 200 °C to nominal reductions of 75% and higher. Initially the material had a random texture and {1 1 1} bi-metal interface plane. X-ray diffraction measurements show that the Ag and Cu phases developed the same brass-type (or ‘alloy-type’) rolling texture regardless of rolling reduction and temperature. Transmission electron microscopy analyses of the nanostructures before and after rolling suggest that adjoining Ag and Cu layers maintained a cube-on-cube relationship but the interface plane changed after rolling. Polycrystal plasticity simulations accounting for plastic slip and deformation twinning in each phase were carried out to explore many possible causes for the brass-type texture development: twinning via a volume effect or barrier effect, Shockley partial slip, and confined layer slip. The results suggest that the observed texture evolution may be due to profuse twinning within both phases. Maintaining the cube-on-cube relationship would then imply that neighboring Ag and Cu crystals twinned by the same variant and on a twin plane non-parallel to the original interface plane. Explanations for this unusual possibility for Cu are provided at the end based on the properties of the Ag-Cu interface.  相似文献

The characteristic function has been an important tool for studying completely non-unitary contractions on Hilbert spaces. In this note, we consider completely non-coisometric contractive tuples of commuting operators on a Hilbert space H. We show that the characteristic function, which is now an operator-valued analytic function on the open Euclidean unit ball in ℂn, is a complete unitary invariant for such a tuple. We prove that the characteristic function satisfies a natural transformation law under biholomorphic mappings of the unit ball. We also characterize all operator-valued analytic functions which arise as characteristic functions of pure commuting contractive tuples.  相似文献

This paper reports an investigation on the two-particle long-range angular correlation among the target fragments produced in 28Si–AgBr interactions at 14.5 AGeV, 16O–AgBr interactions at 60 AGeV and 32S–AgBr interactions at 200 AGeV. The experimental data have been compared with Monte Carlo simulated events to extract dynamical correlation. The data exhibit two-particle long-range correlation in emission angle space at all energies.  相似文献

In this article, several approaches are advanced towards the construction of bivariate Weibull models from the consideration of failure behaviors of the components of a two-component system. First, a general method of construction of bivariate life models is developed in the setting of random environmental effects. Some new bivariate Weibull models are derived as special cases and added insights are provided for some of the existing ones. In the course of model formulation in terms of the dependence structure, a new bivariate family of life distributions is constructed so as to incorporate both positive and negative quadrant dependence in the same parametric setting, and a bivariate Weibull model is obtained as a special case. Finally, some distributional properties are presented for a bivariate Weibull model derived from the consideration of random hazards.  相似文献
