Action on flag varieties: 2-Dimensional case

LetA be a finite dimensional commutative semisimple algebra over a fieldk and letV be a finitely generatedA-module. We examine the action of the general linear group GL _A (V) on the set of flags ofk-subspaces ofV. Also, let (V, B) be a finitely generated symplectic module overA. We also investigate the action of the symplectic group Sp _A (V, B) on the set of flags ofB-isotropick-subspaces ofV, whereB=°B is thek-symplectic form induced by a nonzerok-linear map :A k. In both cases, the orbits are completely classified in terms of certain integer invariants provided that dim _{k A}=2.This work is partially supported by a KOSEF research grant.     

Asymmetric [2,3]-rearrangement of glycine-derived allyl ammonium ylids

The first examples of highly enantioselective [2,3]-sigmatropic rearrangements of acyclic allylic ammonium ylids are reported. Thus, a range of N-{2'-[(N'-allyl-N',N'-dialkyl)ammonium]}acetyl camphor sultams undergo rearrangement at 0 degrees C in DME solution with high diastereofacial control (up to 99:1 dr) to give allylglycines in generally high yield. The power of the method has been demonstrated in a rapid and efficient synthesis of (R)-allyl glycine.     

Antibacterial activities of polystyrene-block-poly(4-vinyl pyridine) and poly(styrene-random-4-vinyl pyridine)

Styrene was polymerized in the presence of benzoyl peroxide (BPO) and 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-1-piperidinyloxy (TEMPO) to yield polystyrene-TEMPO (PS-TEMPO) macroinitiator. The PS-TEMPO macroinitiator with different molecular weight was reacted with 4-vinyl pyridine (4-VP) to synthesize polystyrene-block-poly(4-vinyl pyridine) (PS-b-PVP), which was then quaternized with n-octyl iodide. Antibacterial activity of the quaternized copolymers was assessed against a gram negative bacterium (Pseudomonas aeruginosa) and a gram positive one (Staphylococcus aureus) by using the shake flask test method, and the results were compared with those of poly(styrene-random-4-vinyl pyridine) (P(ST-r--VP)). The quaternized copolymers inhibited greatly the growth of the bacteria, and PS-b-PVP was more active than P(ST-r-VP), which was ascribed to the fact that the content of quaternized 4-VP units on the surface of the particles of the former copolymer was higher than that corresponding to the latter one.     

Simultaneous determination of60Co,131I and137Cs in model radioactive waste water by reverse radiometric flow injection analysis with the aid of a multichannel analyzer

Reverse radiometric flow injection analysis was used for the simultaneous determination of⁶⁰Co,¹³¹I and¹³⁷Cs in model radioactive waste water. A NaI (Tl) scintillation detector coupled to a Canberra MCA was used for measuring the activity of¹³⁷Cs at 662 keV,⁶⁰Co at 1173 keV and 1332 keV, and¹³¹I at 364 keV.     

Determination of water-soluble vitamins in pharmaceutical preparations by reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography with a mobile phase containing sodium dodecylsulphate andn-propanol

Summary A reversed-phase liquid chromatographic method with sodium dodecylsulphate-n-propanolwater as mobile phase has been used to separate and determine six water-soluble vitamins in twelve minutes. The analytical characteristics linear range, sensitivity, detection limits, and precision were evaluated. The lowest detection limits were those of nicotinic acid (not usually present in pharmaceutical products), 0.7 mgL⁻¹, nicotinamide, 1.3 mg L⁻¹, and pyridoxine, 1.4 mg L⁻¹. When the method was applied to the determination of the vitamins in pharmaceutical samples the values found agreed with those on the labels.     

Covalent-ionic nature of the potential energy surface of the Li-CO2 complex

Unrestricted Hartree-Fock calculations with large basis sets, including d-functions, and the estimation of the correlation energy, show that the potential energy surface for the Li-CO₂ complex is built from the crossing of two states, each of them corresponding to a different electron arrangement. One has a strong ionic character and the other is of van der Waals type. Each portion of the energy surface presents a minimum, which is stable in respect to the dissociation limit.     

Solvent effect on protein binding by polymer brush grafted onto porous membranes

An epoxy-group-containing polymer chain was grafted onto the hollow-fiber form of a porous polyethylene membrane by the immersion of the electron beam-irradiated trunk polymer in glycidyl methacrylate diluted with methanol and 1-butanol. The epoxy group density ranged from 8.5 to 13.4 mol per kg of the trunk polymer. Subsequently, the epoxy groups produced were converted into sulfonic acid and diethylamino groups. The density of -SOH and -N(C2H5), groups was 0.40 and 2.2 mol per kg of the product. respectively. The polymer brush, defined as a polymer chain extending from the surface of a pore toward the interior of the pore, was evaluated from the determination of an equilibrium binding capacity of hen egg lysozyme (HEL) and bovine serum albumin (BSA). The polymer brush prepared in 1-butanol was found to be longer than that prepared in methanol from the determinations of liquid permeability and protein adsorptivity. The proteins were bound to the polymer brush prepared in 1-butanol, followed by the functionalization, at higher degrees of multilayer binding: about 30 for HEL and 6 for BSA.     

有毒汤样中微量农药杀虫环的鉴定

报道了在广东江门市某工厂发生的食物中毒事件中，对致毒汤样品中农药的分析鉴定过程；采用GC－MS联用分析，被分离出的疑为致毒物质的成分在现有的质谱谱库中检索未能鉴定；通过采用综合分析，将可疑成分提取、分离、柱以谱纯化，结合NMR、ICP－AES和元素分析，确证了汤样中的致毒物质是沙蚕毒素类农药“杀虫环”。
