We construct functions Mα which are piecewise homogeneous polynomials on the (d+1)-dimensional torus Ud+1. These functions possess complete symmetry with respect to the independent variables. The symmetry and homogeneous relations for these functions are exploited to obtain a recurrence relation and explicit representations. Furthermore, we show that , where ω=e12x/k, 0≤jt≤k−1, are linearly independent. By restricting Mα to Ud, we obtain the complex analogue of polynomial box splines on a (d+1)-direction mesh on Ud, which is a multivariate analogue of B-splines on the circle studied by I.J. A modified Tolman mass (energy) formula is derived for spherically symmetric, time-independent systems. In the absence of surfaces of discontinuity, the modified formula has, in contradistinction to the original formula, the following desirable properties: (i) it always gives the correct mass of the system as a whole; (ii) it always gives the correct mass of any portion of the system which is surrounded by vacuum; and (iii) it remains invariant under a rescaling of the time coordinate of the formt Ct, C=constant. In the presence of surfaces of discontinuity the Tolman mass formula is further modified by the addition of the Israel mass associated with each surface. The resulting formula also has the above three properties. A new exact solution of Einstein's equations which is well behaved everywhere and is, in a sense, a generalization of Florides' new interior Schwarzschild solution is also presented.This result explains why, takingT 1 1 =[C] in Section 2, we were able to obtain a solution free of surfaces of discontinuity.  相似文献

The kernels of operators associated with special chiral gauge transformations (kinks) in the 2N-dimensional Dirac theory are explicitly determined. The result is used to obtain index formulas for Fredholm operators corresponding to continuous chiral gauge transformations. Moreover, the Fock space quadratic forms corresponding to the kinks are proved to converge to the Dirac field as the kink size goes to zero. A new cytotoxic macrocyclic diterpenoid named Japodagrol, C20H28O4, has been isolated from the ornamental plantJatropha podagrica, family Euphorbiaceae, grown in Nigeria. The structure of the title compound, C20H28O4, was solved by X-ray analysis.M r =332.44, monoclinic space groupC2,a=23.285(4),b=6.5105(12),c=12.505(3) Å,=98.504(17),V=1874.8 Å3,Z=4,D c =1.178 Mg/m3. CuK radiation (graphite crystal monochromator, =1.54184 A), (CuK)=6.13 cm–1,F(000)=720,T=290 K. Final conventionalR factor=0.035,R w =0.038 for 3349 observed reflections. The structure was solved with the programDirdif. The 5-membered ring is closed to a half-chair form. The compound contains inter- and intramolecular hydrogen bonds.  相似文献

The crystal structures, solid-state infrared patterns, and thermal properties of two polymorphs of 4-nitrosalicylanilide are presented. In both polymorphs, intramolecular hydrogen bonds are found between the phenol oxygen and the amide proton, and intermolecular hydrogen bonds are found between the amide carbonyl oxygen and the phenol proton. These hydrogen bond patterns are compared to those found in other known salicylamide derivatives and an analysis is given of the factors contributing to preferences for intra- or intermolecular hydrogen bonds in these structures. A comparison of the latency of auditory brain-stem responses (ABR) and evoked otoacoustic emissions (EOAE) has led to an interpretation for the travel of transients in the peripheral auditory system that is consistent with both sets of data. The "cochlear echo" theory for the origin of the EOAE indicates that the latency of a particular frequency component back to the ear canal should be twice the forward latency of its characteristic place in the cochlea. The latency of wave V of the ABR to tone-burst stimuli can be described as the sum of two components: (1) a component that varies with intensity and frequency in an orderly and predictable manner and (2) a component that is independent of both intensity and frequency. Because the EOAE data can be predicted by taking twice the value of component (1) of the ABR latency, this component is interpreted to be due to mechanical travel through the cochlea. A consequence of this interpretation is that the remaining neural component of the ABR latency must be relatively independent of frequency and intensity.  相似文献

In this paper we show that a hodograph method first introducedby Budd & Wheeler (1987) to develop a new numerical algorithmto solve the space charge equation •()=0 can be employedto derive all the known exact solutions, which have recentlybeen found by Smith (1988). All these solutions are shown tobe separable solutions of the equations resulting from the applicationof the hodograph transformation. A reinterpretation of existing theory for rectified diffusion, the process by which bubbles in a sound field may grow in radius, is presented in order to quantitate the effect of acoustic microstreaming on bubble growth rates. The 1/t term in the growth rate equation is defined as the "decay term" and t as the "decay time," the time required for the gas concentration in the liquid contacting the bubble to rise (or fall) from its initial to its final value. In the absence of microstreaming, t is the duration of sonification. In the presence of microstreaming, t may be calculated from the streaming velocity and the bubble radius. A comparison between theory and the experimental results of Eller [A. Eller, J. Acoust. Soc. Am. 46, 1246-1250 (1969)] and of Gould [R.K. Gould, J. Acoust. Soc. Am. 56, 1740-1746 (1974)] shows reasonable agreement in the low kHz range. Theoretical results in the frequency range of 1-10 MHz at 1 and 4 bar are also presented.  相似文献
