We report on a theoretical study of point mutations effects on charge transfer properties in the DNA sequence of the tumor-suppressor p53 gene. On the basis of effective tight-binding models which simulate hole propagation along the DNA, a statistical analysis of mutation-induced charge transfer modifications is performed. In contrast to noncancerous mutations, mutation hot spots tend to result in significantly weaker changes of transmission properties. This suggests that charge transport could play a significant role for DNA-repairing deficiency yielding carcinogenesis.  相似文献

Linear regression models with random coefficients express the idea that each individual sampled may have a different linear response function. Technically speaking, random coefficient regression encompasses a rich variety of submodels. These include deconvolution or affine-mixture models as well as certain classical linear regression models that have heteroscedastic errors, or errors-in-variables, or random effects. This paper studies minimum distance estimates for the coefficient distributions in a general, semiparametric, random coefficient regression model. The analysis yields goodness-of-fit tests for the semiparametric model, prediction regions for future responses, and confidence regions for the distribution of the random coefficients.This research was supported in part by NSF Grant DMS 9001710.  相似文献

Abstract

An Equipement has been built for the generation of uniaxial pressure and of bending stress respectivety directly in the cavity of an X-band ESR spectrometer. Changes of the structure of paramagnetic centres (Fe3+ on Al3+ sites) could be detected in materials with a high content of corundum under the innuence of pressure and bending stress. The objects of investigation are not only suitable model system but also have practical relevance. The Fe3+-ions, incorporated in the materials react very sensitive on mechanically or thermally induced changes of the state of the matrix. They give insight into the materials at a microscopic level The interpretation of the observed intensity and shift effects is possible on the basis of an adequate spin-hamiltonian.  相似文献

A method for identification of highly fluorescent compounds in vine leaves infected by Plasmopara viticola was developed using reversed phase liquid chromatography with simultaneous diode array and fluorometric detection. Fluorescent compounds were extracted from leaves with a methanol-water mixture (70:30). Separation by HPLC was performed using a C(18) column and gradient elution with water-acetonitrile mixtures (20-80% of acetonitrile). The main unknown fluorescent compound was identified by line spectral comparison with a standard obtained by UV photoisomerization of trans-resveratrol glucoside, and its structure was confirmed by liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry. Identification and structural elucidation of the fluorescent compound in the leaves of Vitis vinifera allows early detection of Plasmopara viticola invasion.  相似文献

Photodegradation of organic compounds in water solutions by means of economically advantageous and environment-friendly processes is a topic of growing interest. In recent years a great attention has been devoted to TiO2-based photocatalysts for the oxidative degradation of various organic pollutants. In this context, we have prepared new photo-catalytic polycrystalline TiO2 systems impregnated with sensitizers, i.e., copper, iron or manganese porphyrins, and investigated their photoactivity for 4-nitrophenol oxidation compared with that of bare TiO2. A significant improvement of the photoreactivity was observed in the case of TiO2 impregnated with copper porphyrin, while only a slight beneficial effect was observed in the case of iron porphyrin. In contrast, the presence of manganese porphyrin appeared to be detrimental.  相似文献
