The observed optical polarizations for comets have been explained in past assuming cometary grains to be compact spheres, such that Mie theory could be applied to simulate the observed polarizations. However, recently other shapes like spheroids and then more realistic shapes like aggregates of monomers have been considered for cometary grains, to explain the observed polarizations. For this purpose T-matrix or DDA based light scattering technique was mostly used to simulate the observed polarizations. A number of authors have used T-matrix, DDA and various other techniques along with aggregate grain model to explain the polarizations of comets like 1P/Halley, C 1995/O1 Hale-Bopp, C/1990 K1 (Levy) and C/1996 B2 Hyakutake, etc. Recent STARDUST mission had suggested cometary grains to be mixtures of compact and porous aggregates. Accordingly, attempts have been made recently to reproduce the cometary polarization with mixtures of various compositions, shapes and porosity.The work presented here considers a model for cometary grains which contains (1) solid grains of pyroxene (silicate) and organic with various sizes of spheres, prolates and oblates and (2) aggregates with monomers of various sizes, with composition of pyroxene (silicate) and organic, having structures (shapes) defined by BCCA and BAM2 codes. It was found that the present model can explain the observed polarization data, especially the negative branch, for comet 1P/Halley at , more effectively as compared to other work done in past. Among the aggregates the BAM2 structure was found to play a key role, in deciding the cross-over angle and depth of negative polarization branch.  相似文献

A systematic semiquantitative account of all aspects of the strong and electromagnetic interactions of all the newly discovered hadronic states (theψ’s, theχ’s, etc.) is presented within the framework of the paracharge scheme. Extensions of ideas familiar from the SU3 classification scheme to SU4 are shown to provide an understanding of the new states seen in the decays ofψ (3.1) andψ′ (3.7), including their masses and gross decay characteristics. The decays ofψ (3.1) andψ′ (3.7) themselves are studied in some detail. Since these are of electromagnetic origin in the scheme, their electromagnetic mixing with the resonance at 4.15 GeV (theP-state of the scheme) is important. Once this is taken into account, the resulting picture is in excellent agreement with available data.  相似文献

Using a Thomas-Fermi type picture of the nucleon as a dense system of quarks and antiquarks, we give a rationale for the ‘dipole’ nature, scaling and other characteristics of the nucleon electromagnetic form factors. We investigate the change in the calculated value of asymptotic normalization constant (ANC) by the hyperspherical harmonics expansion method with the inclusion of three nucleon force (3BF) in addition to two nucleon force. We see that ANC does not change very much with the inclusion of 3BF indicating that the 3BF does not alter the asymptotic behaviours of HHE wavefunction significantly.  相似文献

Thermal expansion measurements have been carried out on Fe substituted superconducting compounds Y1Ba2(Cu1−x Fe x )3O y (0<x<4%) using a high resolution dilatometer employing the three terminal capacitance technique. The experimental set up is sensitive enough to detect changes in α of less than 10−8K−1. Results show that the jump Δα in the coefficient of linear thermal expansion at the superconducting transition temperature,T c, increases almost linearly with Fe concentration. The normal state thermal expansion coefficient α first decreases, attains a minimum value aroundx=1% and then increases for higher Fe concentrations. The oxygen content per unit formula is almost constant up tox=1% and then increases rapidly withx. It has also been observed that the anomalous behaviour of α around 260 K observed by Meingastet al [22] for Fe concentrationx=5% is due to inadequate annealing of the sample.  相似文献

The Brownian motion of an ensemble of charged particles in a quantizing magnetic field is considered in a simple quasi-classical model. The model describes random jumps between the Landau levels—corresponding to the quantized motion perpendicular to the magnetic field, and markovian fluctuations in momentum space—corresponding to the classical motion parallel to the field. A random walk dynamics is adopted for the former while an Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process is considered for the latter. The resulting Fokker-Planck equations constitute a semi-quantum stochastic process. The equations are solved and several physical aspects of the underlying system are discussed.  相似文献

The inner-shell structure of some heavy atoms is examined using a self-consistent relativistic local density method. Ar(K), Kr(K) and Xe (K,L 1,L 2 andL 3) binding energies and {ie863-1} (hyper-satellite) energies of Tl, Hg and Tm are calculated. The results are compared with available experimental data. A bilocal lattice meson field equation which is invariant underP 4×SO 2×SO 2×SO 2×SO 2, is investigated. A class of general solutions in terms of the Laguerre polynomials (products of 2-dimensional hydrogen atom wave-functions) is presented. The “atomic” wave-functions in “momentum”-space indicate that two particles (patrons) are in bound orconfined state and moving along elliptical orbits in “momentum”-space. Four Green's functions for the (bilocal lattice scalar) partialdifference equation are obtained. Theconvergence of one Green's function is rigorously proved and the convergence of others are conjectured.  相似文献
