Essential oils (EOs) have promising antioxidant activities which are gaining interest as natural alternatives to synthetic antioxidants in the food and cosmetic industries. However, quantitative data on chain-breaking activity and on the kinetics of peroxyl radical trapping are missing. Five phenol-rich EOs were analyzed by GC-MS and studied by oxygen-uptake kinetics in inhibited controlled autoxidations of reference substrates (cumene and squalene). Terpene-rich Thymus vulgaris (thymol 4%; carvacrol 33.9%), Origanum vulgare, (thymol 0.4%; carvacrol 66.2%) and Satureja hortensis, (thymol 1.7%; carvacrol 46.6%), had apparent kinh (30 °C, PhCl) of (1.5 ± 0.3) × 104, (1.3 ± 0.1) × 104 and (1.1 ± 0.3) × 104 M−1s−1, respectively, while phenylpropanoid-rich Eugenia caryophyllus (eugenol 80.8%) and Cinnamomum zeylanicum, (eugenol 81.4%) showed apparent kinh (30 °C, PhCl) of (5.0 ± 0.1) × 103 and (4.9 ± 0.3) × 103 M−1s−1, respectively. All EOs already granted good antioxidant protection of cumene at a concentration of 1 ppm (1 mg/L), the duration being proportional to their phenolic content, which dictated their antioxidant behavior. They also afforded excellent protection of squalene after adjusting their concentration (100 mg/L) to account for the much higher oxidizability of this substrate. All investigated EOs had kinh comparable to synthetic butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) were are eligible to replace it in the protection of food or cosmetic products.  相似文献

A micromorphic electroelastic model for polarized liquid crystals is proposed on the basis of a representation of electric multipoles in terms of microdeformation. Nematic liquid crystals are modeled as micropolar continua endowed with intrinsic electric dipole and quadrupole. A nonlinear dimensionless problem for a homogeneous nematic layer is formulated and solved numerically. The existence of a threshold electric potential is discussed, and the corresponding linearized system is also obtained to compare results on small values of deformation and electric field. Differently from common results of the classical continuum approach, asymmetric deformations and electric potentials within the layer are obtained due to the occurrence of non-null intrinsic quadrupole.  相似文献

A unique vapor phase deposition (VPD) technique was designed and built to achieve in situ CdCl2 treatment of CdTe film. The substrate temperature was 400 °C, and the temperature of CdTe mixture with CdCl2 source was 500 °C. The structural and morphological properties of CdTe have been studied as a function of wt.% CdCl2 concentration by using X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). XRD measurements show that the presence of CdCl2 vapor induces (1 1 1)-oriented growth in the CdTe film. SEM measurements have shown enhance growth of grains, in the presence of CdCl2. From AFM the roughness of the films showed a heavy dependence on CdCl2 concentration. In the presence of 4% CdCl2 concentration, the CdTe films roughness has a root mean square (rms) value of about 275 Å. This value is about 831 Å for the non-treated CdTe films.  相似文献

The continuum linear theory of ionic crystals is applied to develop a two-dimensional eigenvalue problem in the Stroh formalism. An integral approach is exploited to study the occurrence of surface waves along a free boundary of the crystal. Dispersion relations are obtained by separating real and imaginary parts of the governing system and various boundary conditions are examined. The problem of interfacial waves along the separation boundary between two different crystals is also outlined. Numerical computations are performed for a centrosymmetric crystal (KCl) in order to evaluate bulk wave speeds, limiting speed of surface waves and solutions to the dispersion equations for different boundary conditions.  相似文献

We investigate the relation between the structure and the viscoelastic behavior of a model polymer nanocomposite system based on a mixture of titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles and polypropylene. Above a critical volume fraction, Φ c, the elasticity of the hybrids dramatically increases, and the frequency dependence of the elastic and viscous moduli reflects the superposition of the independent responses of the suspending polymer melt and of an elastic particle network. In addition, the elasticity of the hybrids shows critical behavior around Φ c. We interpret these observations by hypothesizing the formation of a transient network, which forms due to crowding of particle clusters. Consistent with this interpretation, we find a long-time, Φ-dependent, structural relaxation, which emphasizes the transient character of the structure formed by the particle clusters. For times below this characteristic relaxation time, the elasticity of the network is Φ-independent and reminiscent of glassy behavior, with the elastic modulus, G, scaling with frequency, ω, as Gω 0.3. We expect that our analysis will be useful for understanding the behavior of other complex fluids where the elasticity of the components could be superimposed.  相似文献

Er(OTf)3 is proposed as new efficient Lewis acid catalyst in a mild deprotection protocol of benzylidene derivatives. In a modified procedure, where acetic anhydride is used as the reaction solvent, the simultaneous cleavage of the benzylidene acetal and the peracetylation of the substrates is obtained in quantitative yields and very short reaction times.  相似文献

A method for evaluating the electromagnetic Casimir energy in situations involving spherical or circular boundaries is presented. Zeta function regularization is unambiguously used from the start and the properties of Bessel and related zeta functions are central. Nontrivial results concerning these functions are given. While part of their application agrees with previous knowledge, new results like the zeta-regularized electromagnetic Casimir energy for a circular wire are included.  相似文献
