Two-dimensional assembly of [Mn(III)₂Mn(II)₂] single-molecule magnets and [Cu(pic)₂] linking units (Hpic = picolinic acid)

In an attempt to develop novel coordination networks of SMMs, a Cu(II) picolinate complex has been used to coordinate S(T) = 9 tetranuclear Mn-based SMMs resulting in an intriguing 2D framework exhibiting a magnet-like behavior at low temperature.     

Microstructure of Polyelectrolyte Nanoaggregates Studied by Fluorescence Probe Method

The microstructure of water soluble nanoaggregates based on polyelectrolyte complex formed by the cationic comb-type copolymer poly(acrylamide -co-[3- (methacryloyl-amino)propyl] trimethylammonium chloride)-graft- polyacrylamide [P(AM-co-MAPTAC)-g-PAM] and the anionic linear polyelectrolyte sodium polyacrylate (NaPA) was investigated using the fluorescence probe technique. The fluorescence probe were 1-anilinonaphthalene-8-sulfonic acid (ANS), pyrene (Py) and 1,10-bis(1-pyrene) decane (PD). The fluorescence properties in polyelectrolyte complex solutions, which are sensitive to either micropolarity (ANS, Py) or microviscosity (PD), were related to the quantities obtained in different pure or mixed solvents. Micropolarities were quantified utilizing the polarity common index (Reichardt) E _T(30). ANS and Py showed a variation of the micropolarity with the charge ratio of the two polymers, with the lowest polarity reached at the complex neutralization. The PD probe, by its excimer-to-monomer fluorescence intensities ratio, enabled us to evidence the effect of the composition and the comb-type copolymer grafting density on the microviscosity of the interpolyelectrolytes aggregates. It has been found that the microviscosity increased with the density of the grafting PAM chains.     

A constrained egalitarian solution for convex multi-choice games

This paper deals with a constrained egalitarian solution for convex multi-choice games named the d value. It is proved that the d value of a convex multi-choice game belongs to the precore, Lorenz dominates each other element of the precore and possesses a population monotonicity property regarding players’ participation levels. Furthermore, an axiomatic characterization is given where a specific consistency property plays an important role.     

On the contact interfaces in sonic composites

The paper analyses the effect of normal contact with friction on the generation of full band-gaps in sonic composites. The behavior of contact interfaces are computed by using LISA (local interaction simulation approach). LISA is an efficient tool for numerical simulation of the acoustic wave propagation in heterogeneous material specimens, in particular those with contact interfaces between different materials, like in sonic composites. Differing Coordination Modes of (O‐Alkyl)‐p‐Ethoxyphenyldithiophosphonato Ligands in Copper(I), Silver(I) and Gold(I) Triphenylphosphine Complexes

The three (O‐methyl)‐p‐ethoxyphenyldithiophosphonato triphenylphosphine complexes of copper, silver and gold, [(Ph₃P)_nM{S₂P(OMe)C₆H₄OEt‐p}] (M = Cu, n = 2; M = Ag, Au, n = 1) investigated structurally by X‐ray diffraction exhibit remarkable structural differences. The copper compound is a four‐coordinate chelate monomer with Cu–S 2.4417(6) and 2.5048(6) Å; P–Cu–S 104.24(2)–114.01(2)°; Cu–S–P 82.49(3)° and 80.85(2)°. The silver compound is a cyclic dimer with bridging dithiophosphonato ligands and three‐coordinate silver atoms [Ag–S 2.5371(5) and 2.6867(5) Å; P–Ag–S 122.88(2)° and 122.17(2)°; Ag–S–P 89.32(2)° and 103.56(2)°]. The gold compound is monomeric with linear dicoordinate gold [Au–S 2.3218(6) Å; P–Au–S 177.72(2)°, Au–S–P 100.97(3)°].     

Spectroscopic study on nystatin conformational modifications generated by its interaction with the solvent

Conformational transformations of the tetraenic nystatin chromophore under the influence of solvents and UV irradiation have been studied by absorption, fluorescence and wide-line NMR spectroscopy.     

Synthesis and characterization of some vanadyl complexes with flavonoid derivatives as potential insulin-mimetic agents

Two new complexes with formula VOL₂·nH₂O ((1) L: 4′,5,7-trihydroxyflavone-7-rhamnoglucoside (naringin), n = 8; (2) L: 3′,4′,7-tris[O-(2-hydroxyethyl)]rutin (troxerutin), n = 0) were synthesised and characterised. The IR and UV–Vis spectral data indicate that these flavones act as bidentate chelating ligands and generate VO(II) complexes with a square-pyramidal stereochemistry. The thermal analysis (TG, DTA) elucidated the composition and also the number and nature of the water molecules. The thermal behavior indicates also a strong interaction between oxovanadium (IV) and these oxygen donor ligands.     

Temperature dependence of the density of calamitic and discotic nematic lyotropic liquid crystals containing sodium lauryl sulphate/decanol/water

Experimental results for the temperature dependence of density at normal pressure for two compositions of sodium lauryl sulphate/decanol/water solutions, exhibiting either a calamitic or a discotic lyotropic nematic phase at room temperature, are presented. Within the limits of experimental precision (±1 ×10^-5 g cm^-3), the systems show no jump in density at the nematic to isotropic phase transition. Over the studied temperature range, the mean thermal expansion coefficients were also evaluated.
