This work examines the importance of vibrational delocalization on a basicthermomechanical property of a hexagonal boron nitride monolayer, namely its thermalexpansion coefficient (TEC). Using a recently parametrized bond-order potential of theTersoff type, the TEC was theoretically obtained from the thermal variations of thelattice parameter a(T) calculated using threedifferent methods: (i) the quasiharmonic approximation; (ii) its anharmonic improvementbased on self-consistent phonons; (iii) fully anharmonic Monte Carlo simulations possiblyenhanced within the path-integral framework to account for nuclear quantum effects. Theresults obtained with the three methods are generally consistent with one another and withother recently published data, and indicate that the TEC is negative at least up to ca.700 K, quantum mechanical effects leading to a significant expansion by about 50% relativeto the classical result. Comparison with experimental data on bulk hexagonal BN suggestssignificant differences, which originate from possible inaccuracies in the model that tendto underestimate the lattice parameter itself, and most likely from the 2D nature of themonolayer and the key contribution of out-of-plane modes. The effects of isotopic purityin the natural abundances of boron are found to be insignificant.  相似文献

Transient hot-wire data on thermal conductivity of suspensions of silica and perfluorinated particles show agreement with the mean-field theory of Maxwell but not with the recently postulated microconvection mechanism. The influence of interfacial thermal resistance, convective effects at microscales, and the possibility of thermal conductivity enhancements beyond the Maxwell limit are discussed.  相似文献

The diode laser absorption infrared spectrum of fluorobenzene has been recorded near 1230 cm−1 after cooling the molecules in a supersonic pulsed jet. Spectral lines have been assigned to the ν7a fundamental band. Transitions of J between 32 and 49 have been recorded, that show characteristic line groupings in the P branch. Analysis of the spectrum gives the vibrational band origin and rotational and centrifugal distortion constants of the molecule in the ν7a = 1 state.  相似文献

Using femtosecond laser writing, optical waveguides were monolithically integrated into a commercial microfluidic lab-on-a-chip device, with the waveguides intersecting a microfluidic channel. Continuous-wave laser excitation through these optical waveguides confines the excitation window to a width of 12 microm, enabling high-resolution monitoring of the passage of different types of fluorescent analytes when migrating and being separated in the microfluidic channel by microchip capillary electrophoresis. Furthermore, we demonstrate on-chip-integrated waveguide excitation and detection of a biologically relevant species, fluorescently labeled DNA molecules, during microchip capillary electrophoresis. Well-controlled plug formation as required for on-chip integrated capillary electrophoresis separation of DNA molecules, and the combination of waveguide excitation and a low limit of detection, will enable monitoring of extremely small quantities with high spatial resolution.  相似文献

When such construction is shaped according to the structure of H0, von Neumanns notion of a reference sequence of unit vectors for Hilbert infinite tensor products emerges; after a further Rieffel induction step, a class IPR[H] of representations of H arises. For any two such representations, we describe explicitly their associated intertwiners. Any two representations in IPR[H] are either disjoint or unitarily equivalent. District heating plants are becoming more common in European cities. These systems make it possible to furnish users with warm water while locating the production plants in the outskirts having the double benefit of lowering the impact of pollution on the center of the city and achieving better conversion performances. In order to amortize the costs throughout the year, the system often includes a combined heat and power (CHP) plant, to exploit the energy during the summer as well, when the demand for warm water decreases. A linear programming model for the optimal resource management of such a plant is presented and some results for a real case are reported. A distribution network design problem is also addressed and solved by means of mixed integer linear programming.  相似文献

A survey of the results described in the authors PhD thesis (Montemanni 2001) is presented. The thesis, which was supervised by Prof. Derek H. Smith and Dr. Stuart M.
