We study a model in which a closed universe with dust and quintessence matter components may look like an accelerated flat Friedmann–Robertson–Walker (FRW) universe at low redshifts. This paper presents the first results of a combined experimental–computational investigation focused on the validation of reduced order models of geometrically nonlinear structures in the presence of uncertainty. The validation approach considered here is based on the premise that the model is valid if the experimental results can be considered as random sample responses of the stochastic system of which the reduced order model is the mean. For the situation considered here, the power spectra of the experiments should lie within the 2nd and 98th percentiles of the response (forming the uncertainty band) of the stochastic model. Nominally clamped–clamped beams are considered to demonstrate the entire process. The construction of two mean reduced order models and their stochastic counterparts are first performed. Then, the validation effort is carried out by comparing experimentally obtained power spectra and their corresponding computational uncertainty bands. This process leads, for both reduced order models, to a very good representation of the important upper envelope (98th percentile) of the experimental data but a less good fit of the lower envelope (2nd percentile).  相似文献

The dynamics of the photoionization of the two outermost orbitals of C(60) has been studied in the oscillatory regime from threshold to the carbon K edge. We show that geometrical properties of the fullerene electronic hull, such as its diameter and thickness, are contained in the partial photoionization cross sections by examining ratios of partial cross sections as a function of the photon wave number in the Fourier conjugated space. Evaluated in this unconventional manner photoemission data reveal directly the desired spatial information.  相似文献

Abstract

An experimental study of laminar steady-state natural convection heat transfer from electrically heated vertical cylinders immersed in air has been undertaken. Three stainless steel (316 SS) test sections of different slenderness ratios were employed. Surface temperature profiles along the vertical cylinders were obtained using miniature thermocouples when the cylinders were heated with different power levels resulting in different total wall heat fluxes. After the mandatory corrections for the radiation heat fluxes were made, three correlation equations relating the local Nusselt number Nuy with the local modified Rayleigh number Ra* y and the position-to-cylinder diameter y/d were developed. The correlation equations are valid for Ra* y ≤ 2 × 1012.  相似文献

We discuss forward-backward charge asymmetries for lepton-pair production in association with a large-transverse-momentum jet at hadron colliders. The lepton charge asymmetry relative to the jet direction A(j)(FB) gives a new determination of the effective weak mixing angle sin((2)theta(lept)(eff)(M(2)(Z)) with a statistical precision after cuts of approximately 10(-3) (8x10(-3)) at LHC (Tevatron). This is to be compared with the current uncertainty at LEP and SLD from the asymmetries alone, 2x10(-4). The identification of b jets also allows for the measurement of the bottom-quark-Z asymmetry A(b)(FB) at hadron colliders, the resulting statistical precision for sin((2)theta(lept)(eff)(M(2)(Z)) being approximately 9x10(-4) (2x10(-2) at Tevatron), also lower than the reported precision at e(+)e(-) colliders, 3x10(-4).  相似文献

In this work we present the scintillation properties of K2LaCl5 doped with Ce3+ concentrations of 0, 0.1, 1 and 10%. Under X-ray excitation the crystals show the efficient Ce3+ (5d–4f) luminescence between 340 and 400 nm. Depending on the Ce concentration, the light yields vary between 24,000 and 50,000 photons/MeV (ph/MeV). Experiments with 662 KeV gamma ray excitation show light yields varying between 13,000 and 30,000 ph/MeV. For Ce luminescence a single exponential decay time of approximately 40 ns is expected. However, for K2LaCl5:10%Ce, the decay is not single exponential. As a function of the time t, it can be described by a 1/t1.63 behaviour for large t. With a crystal of K2LaCl5:10%Ce we obtained an energy resolution of 5.1% for 662 KeV gamma ray excitation of 137Cs.  相似文献

Block renormalization group transformations (RGT) for lattice and continuum Euclidean Fermions in d dimensions are developed using Fermionic integrals with exponential and -function weight functions. For the free field the sequence of actionsD k generated by the RGT from D, the Dirac operator, are shown to have exponential decay; uniform ink, after rescaling to the unit lattice. It is shown that the two-point functionD –1 admits a simple telescopic sum decomposition into fluctuation two-point functions which for the exponential weight RGT have exponential decay. Contrary to RG intuition the sequence of rescaled actions corresponding to the -function RGT do not have uniform exponential decay and we give examples of initial actions in one dimension where this phenomena occurs for the exponenential weight RGT also.  相似文献
