An oscillating plate in a binary mixture of hemihedral fluids

Summary The sinusoidal oscillations of an infinite plate in a mixture of two incompressible Newtonian hemihedral fluids are investigated. The solution is compared with the previously derived corresponding one for holohedral fluids.

Zusammenfassung Es werden die sinusförmigen Schwingungen einer unendlichen Platte in einer Mischung von zwei inkompressiblen Newtonschen hemiedrischen Flüssigkeiten untersucht. Die Lösung wird mit der früher erhaltenen entsprechenden Lösung für holoedrische Flüssigkeiten verglichen.

     

On the thermodynamics and stability of deformable dielectrics

A brief derivation of the equations for deformable dielectrics is presented. The basic theory generalises that due to Toupin [1], for it contains thermomechanical interactions and viscous dissipation within a non-equilibrium thermodynamic framework recently constructed by Bree and Beevers [2]. Some asymptotic and Lyapounov stability results are established for initial-boundary value problems in the linearised theory using extended energy arguments. Similar arguments are then applied to produce analogous stability results for small electro-mechanical perturbations superimposed on a large static deformation and a strong magnetic field.     

Asymmetric fluid flow in a hemispherical container induced by electromagnetic forces

Summary The flow of incompressible fluid in a hemispherical container induced by a distributed source of current and a superimposed uniform magnetic field, applied perpendicular to the axis of symmetry of the hemisphere, is investigated. A series solution is developed when the inertial terms in the Navier-Stokes equations are neglected and numerical results are stated for values of the parameters which are particularly relevant to the welding of steel.

Zusammenfassung Es wird die Strömung eines inkompressiblen Fluids in einer Halbkugel untersucht, die durch eine Verteilung von Strömen in einem gleichförmigen Magnetfeld induziert wird; das Feld steht senkrecht zur Symmetrieachse des Behälters. Eine Reihenentwicklung wird gegeben bei der die Trägheitsterme der Navier-Stokes'schen Gleichungen vernachlässigt werden. Numerische Resultate werden gegeben für Parameter die für das Schweissen von Stahl relevant sind.

     

Error Bounds for Hermite Interpolation by Quadratic Splines on an {alpha}-Triangulation

For l, an -triangulation F of a planar domain is such that,for every T F, there holds 1 R_T/2r_T , where R_T (resp. r_T)denotes the radius of the circumscribed (resp. inscribed) circleof the triangle T. When T is varying in F the centre of itsinscribed circle is varying in a compact interior to T and itsorthogonal projections on the sides are varying in compact intervalsinterior to these sides. Precise results are given about thesizes of these compacts and are used for the computation oferror constants in the problem of Hermite interpolation by Powell-Sabinquadratic finite elements, bringing to the fore their dependenceon the parameter .

N-2,4-Dinitrobenzenesulfenylbenzimidazoles exhibit substantial barriers to torsion about the sulfur-nitrogen bond ($\text{ca}$ 19 kcal/mole).     

肉苁蓉精油化学成分的研究

肉苁蓉 Cistanche Salsa(C.A.Mey.)G.Beak 是列当科 Orobanchaceae 植物肉苁蓉的肉质茎;又名大芸,纵蓉。它分布在北疆地区荒漠戈壁地带,有益肾壮阳,延年益寿等功能,故有“沙漠人参”之称。肉苁蓉是一种常用的中药,新疆地区资源丰富,其精油化学成分在国内外未见报道。为了整理和发掘祖国医药学宝库,我们对其化学成分进行了研究。     

微波消解ICP-MS测定唐古特乌头中的多种微量元素

采用HNO3-H2O2混合酸体系微波消解及电感耦合等离子体-质谱法,消解唐古特乌头样品,测定其中Mn、Fe、Co、As、Ni、Se、Cu、Zn、V和Cr共10种微量元素。探讨了样品消解的条件,通过加标回收实验,回收率为94.08%—103.50%,验证了分析数据的可靠性。结果表明,该法具有快速、简便、准确度高、能同时分析多元素的优点,结果令人满意。     

On determining the shape of weld pools

The equations governing heat and fluid flow in weld pools for the TIG fusion welding process are presented and this coupled system is solved numerically using finite differences. Electromagnetic forcing terms, buoyancy forces, shear forces on the pool surface due to the variation in surface tension with temperature and an additional uniform magnetic field applied normal to the workpiece are all included in our model and results are displayed indicating the relative importance of these four mechanisms.
