Using the CLEO detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring, we have studied the distribution of kinematic variables in the decay lambda(+)(c)lambda--> e(+)nu(e). By performing a four-dimensional maximum likelihood fit, we determine the form factor ratio, R= f(2)/f(1) = -0.31 +/- 0.05(stat) +/- 0.04(syst), the pole mass, M(pole) = [2.21 +/- 0.08(stat) +/- 0.14(syst)] GeV/c(2), and the decay asymmetry parameter of the lambda(+)(c), alpha (lambda(c)) = -0.86 +/-0.03(stat) +/- 0.02(syst), for q(2) = 0.67 (GeV/c(2))(2). We compare the angular distributions of the lambda(+)(c) and lambda(-)(c) and find no evidence for CP violation: A(lambda(c)) = (alpha(lambda(c)) + alpha (lambda(c)))/(alpha(lambda(c))-alpha(lambda(c))) = 0.00 +/- 0.03(stat) +/- 0.01(syst) +/- 0.02, where the third error is from the uncertainty in the world average of the CP-violating parameter, A(lambda), for ppi(-). 相似文献

We have studied the temperature dependent phonon emission rate P(T) of a strongly interacting (r(s) > or =22) dilute 2D GaAs hole system using a standard carrier heating technique. In the still poorly understood metallic state, we observe that P(T) changes from P(T) approximately T5 to P(T) approximately T7 above 100 mK, indicating a crossover from screened piezoelectric (PZ) coupling to screened deformation potential (DP) coupling for hole-phonon scattering. Quantitative comparison with theory shows that the long range PZ coupling between holes and phonons has the expected magnitude; however, in the metallic state, the short range DP coupling between holes and phonons is almost 20 times stronger than expected from theory. The density dependence of P(T) shows that it is easier to cool low-density 2D holes in GaAs than higher density 2D hole systems. 相似文献

The physics realization of a ququadrit quantum computation with cooled trapped 138Ba+ ions in a Paul trap is investigated. The ground state level 62 S1/2(m = −1/2) and three metastable levels: 52 D3/2(m = −1/2), 52 D5/2(m = −1/2), and 52 D5/2(m = 1/2), of the fine-structure of the 138Ba+ ion, are used to store the quantum information of ququadrits. The use of coherent manipulation of populations in single ququadrit,
being a four-dimensional Hilbert space, produces a discrete Fourier transform and the manipulation of the first red band transitions
with the introduction of an ancillary quantum channel between two ququadrits generates a conditional phase gate. The combination
of the both above results in a universal two-ququadrit gate, called XOR(4) gate corresponding to the controlled-NOT gate operation in qubit systems. The implementation of quantum Fourier transform
for n ququadrits is performed by means of the conditional phase-shift gate. The feasibility of physical realization of ququadrit
quantum computation with cooled-trapped 138Ba+ ions is detailed analyzed and described, and the theoretical detection method of logical states is given. Higher entanglement
between ququadrits than qutrits or qubits and more security of ququadrit quantum cryptography than qutrit's or qutrit's will

We report scanning tunneling microscopy observations of Ge deposited on the Si(111)-(7 x 7) surface for a sequence of submonolayer coverages. We demonstrate that Ge atoms replace so-called Si adatoms. Initially, the replacements are random, but distinct patterns emerge and evolve with increasing coverage, until small islands begin to form. Corner adatom sites in the faulted half unit cells are preferred. First-principles density functional calculations find that adatom substitution competes energetically with a high-coordination bridge site, but atoms occupying the latter sites are highly mobile. We investigate the decays D(0)-->pi(-)l(+)nu and D(0)-->K(-)l(+)nu, where l is e or mu, using approximately 7 fb(-1) of data collected with the CLEO III detector. We find R(0) identical with B(D(0)-->pi(-)e(+)nu)/B(D(0)-->K(-)e(+)nu)=0.082+/-0.006+/-0.005. Fits to the kinematic distributions of the data provide parameters describing the form factor of each mode. Combining the form factor results and R(0) gives |f(pi)(+)(0)|(2)|V(cd)|(2)/|f(K)(+)(0)|(2)|V(cs)|(2)=0.038(+0.006+0.005)(-0.007-0.003). 相似文献

The pertinence of expression of heat shock proteins (HSPs) to the efficacy of cryopreservation in HELAs 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
HELAs (Hela cells, passed cells of human cervical carcinoma) were heat or cold treated (named heat or cold shock) and then resumed normal culture for 2, 4 or 8 hours respectively. The expressions of heat shock protein 70 (HSP70) and 90 (HSP90) of the HELAs were measured by Northern and Western blotting. HELAs after 4-hour culture were exposed to or cryopreserved with different concentration of dimethyl sulfoxide (Me2SO, 2.5%, 5%, 10%, 15% and 20% respectively, V/V). Meanwhile, the HELAs after different culture time (2, 4 and 6 hours of culture) were cryopreserved with 5% Me2SO. After exposure or cryopreservation, the number of live HELAs was counted and the survival rate was calculated. The results showed that heat shock increased the expression of HSP70 and HSP90 of HELAs, while cold shock decreased the expression of the two proteins. When the concentrations of Me2SO were 10%, 15% and 20%, the survival rates of HELAs after exposure to Me2SO or cryopreservation were much lower than those when the concentrations were small. The survival rates of the heat shocked HELAs were significantly higher than those of the cold shocked and control HELAs. After cryopreservation with 5% Me2SO, the survival rate of heat shocked HELAs group with 2 hours culture time was the lowest among all the groups of HELAs with different cultural time. From the results of this study, we conclude that the expressions of HSP70 and HSP90 in HELAs increased significantly after heat shock, while cold shock decreased the expressions of these two proteins. The over-expressions of HSPs in the heat shocked HELAs could protect the cells from both injury caused by potential toxicity of high concentrations of Me2SO and cryoinjury caused by the freeze-thawing/cryopreservation procedure. 相似文献

We show that a many-atom Bose system at zero temperature has, in general, a liquid phase in addition to its well-known gaseous phase. A universal phase diagram is presented that is applicable to all Bose systems with a -C6/r6 type of interaction at large interparticle separations. We show that the predicted phase structure has implications on the stability of a gaseous Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) even at dilute densities that are routinely achieved under existing experimental conditions. Using 0.8 x 10(6) D+ D- pairs collected with the CLEO-c detector at the psi(3770) resonance, we have searched for flavor-changing neutral current and lepton-number-violating decays of D+ mesons to final states with dielectrons. We find no indication of either, obtaining 90% confidence level upper limits of B(D+ --> pi+ e+ e-) < 7.4 x 10(-6), B(D+ --> pi- e+ d+) < 3.6 x 10(-6), B(D+ --> K+ e+ e-) < 6.2 x 10(-6), and B(D+ --> K- e+ e+) < 4.5 x 10(-6). 相似文献
