Nonequilibrium Statistical Mechanics and Entropy Production in a Classical Infinite System of Rotators

We analyze the dynamics of a simple but nontrivial classical Hamiltonian system of infinitely many coupled rotators. We assume that this infinite system is driven out of thermal equilibrium either because energy is injected by an external force (Case I), or because heat flows between two thermostats at different temperatures (Case II). We discuss several possible definitions of the entropy production associated with a finite or infinite region, or with a partition of the system into a finite number of pieces. We show that these definitions satisfy the expected bounds in terms of thermostat temperatures and energy flow.     

Nonextensive Statistical Mechanics Application to Vibrational Dynamics of Protein Folding

The vibrational dynamics of protein folding is analyzed in the framework of Tsallis statistics. We employ exact expressions for classical harmonic oscillators by considering the unnormalized constraints. As q→1, we show that these approximations agree with the result of Gaussian network model.     

Study on typical behavior of transient nature (I-t) and hysterisis nature of I–V characteristics of dye doped solid state thin film photoelectrochemical cell

In this present investigation, we describe the steady state current voltage (I–V) characteristic of Crystal violet dye dispersed solid state photoelectrochemical cell (PEC). Typical behavior of dark current-voltage characteristic by increasing and decreasing external bias voltage has a similar form like hysterisis in nature. Although we have already observed this hysterisis nature in case of both forward and reverse bias condition, yet it is clear that the reverse hysterisis curve is more prominent than forward hysterisis. In this paper, we are getting double values of current (I) for a single value voltage, which is also helpful to understand the charge transport process through disordered materials. As the bias increases, the distribution of traps depth, which is exponential in nature, changes toward order state (resulting increase in disordered parameter α) This means that as α increases, it tends to reach the most order state of material. When external bias voltage is at 3.5 V, the value of disorder parameter becomes 1, and when bias voltage is beyond 3.5 V, the diffusion comes enhanced in nature.     

Solvothermal Synthesis of Molybdenum Disulfide Hollow Spheres Modified by Cyanex 301 in Water–Ethanol Medium

Hollow spherical molybdenum disulfide has been successfully synthesized via a solvothermal method using Cyanex 301 as sulfur source and modification agent. The hollow spheres are characterized by transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction and Energy-Dispersive X-ray analysis. The influences of reaction conditions are also discussed while a mechanism is proposed to explain the formation of the peculiar morphology.     

The Distribution of the Free Path Lengths in the Periodic Two-Dimensional Lorentz Gas in the Small-Scatterer Limit

We study the free path length and the geometric free path length in the model of the periodic two-dimensional Lorentz gas (Sinai billiard). We give a complete and rigorous proof for the existence of their distributions in the small-scatterer limit and explicitly compute them. As a corollary one gets a complete proof for the existence of the constant term in the asymptotic formula of the KS entropy of the billiard map in this model, as conjectured by P. Dahlqvist.In memory of Walter Philipp     

Synthesis of oxime phosphoranes from reaction between triphenylphosphine and acetylenic esters in the presence of oxime derivatives

A new one-pot, simple and effective procedure is presented for the preparation of O-containing phosphorus ylides by the Michael addition reaction of N-methylpyrrole-2-carbaldehydoxime, pyridin-2-carbaldehydoxime or acetophenonoxime with acetylenic esters.     

Design of Hyperbolic Billiards

We formulate a general framework for the construction of hyperbolic billiards. Spherical symmetry is exploited for a simple treatment of billiards with spherical caps and soft billiards in higher dimensions. Other examples include the Papenbrock stadium. Reproduction of the entire article for non-commercial purposes is permitted without charge.     

Additional Symmetries and String Equation of the CKP Hierarchy

Based on the Orlov and Shulman’s M operator, the additional symmetries and the string equation of the CKP hierarchy are established, and then the higher order constraints on L ^l are obtained. In addition, the generating function and some properties are also given. In particular, the additional symmetry flows form a new infinite dimensional algebra , which is a subalgebra of W _1+∞.
