Study of the behavior of chromium(III) in potassium nitrate solutions at 25°C

Solubility in the KNO₃-Cr(NO₃)₃-H₂O system at 25°C was studied by an isothermal method. The existence of solid phases of potassium nitrate and chromium(III) nitrate nonahydrate was confirmed by constructing a phase diagram, chemical analysis, and IR spectroscopy. Crystallization of potassium nitrate from aqueous solutions was studied. Potassium nitrate does not interact with chromium(III) nitrate within the range of micro and macro concentrations. The capture of chromium(III) by KNO₃ crystals is due to adsorption and occlusion of a mother solution.     

Synthesis of 3-(Benzotriazol-1-yl)naphthoquinone Derivatives

2,3-Bis(benzotriazol-1-yl)-1,4-naphthoquinone reacts with aliphatic and aromatic amines to give the corresponding 2-amino-3-(benzotriazol-1yl)-1,4-naphthoquinones, and its reaction with alkali gives 2-hydroxy-3-(benzotriazol-1-yl)-1,4-naphthoquinone.     

The formation of nalidixic acid dimers and excimers in aqueous solutions

The influence of optical excitation on the formation of nalidixic acid dimers and excimers in aqueous media in the ground and excited states was studied. Quantum-chemical calculations of the total energy of monomers and dimers were performed. The spectral-luminescent characteristics of pairs of nlqH molecules were measured, and changes in charges on atoms in the ground and excited states were estimated.     

Energy transport induced by an external alternating field in strongly disordered media.

The delocalization of excitations in an ensemble of two-level systems with a strong disorder due to an external alternating acoustic or electric field is considered. The propagating modes are shown to appear if a ratio of the field amplitude to the frequency is large enough. Two complementary approaches, the static one similar to that of Anderson and the dynamic one related to Landau-Zener, are developed. It is shown that the field-induced relaxation mechanism can have a strong influence on the kinetics. The internal friction is argued to be vastly affected by the relaxation mechanism proposed.     

Coulomb correlations and electron-hole liquid in double quantum wells

It has been shown that many-body Coulomb correlations in double quantum wells with spatially separated electrons and holes result in the formation of a degenerate electron-hole liquid where an average distance between the particles is smaller than the size of an isolated exciton. This state turns out to be energetically more favorable than the exciton gas. The results have been obtained under the assumption that there are many different sorts of electrons and holes in the system, which is the case, in particular, in multivalley semiconductors. The relation to the experiments on the observation of luminescent regions in such systems is discussed.
