Synthesis and structural characterization of isomeric coumarino‐1,2‐oxaphosphole derivatives

The coumarino‐[3,4‐c]‐3H‐10‐methyl‐2‐oxo‐2‐phenyl‐1,2‐oxaphosphole was prepared by the addition of PhPCl₂ to 3‐acetylcoumarin in the presence of acetic anhydride. Its conversion to the isomeric coumarino‐[3,4‐c]‐9H‐9‐methyl‐2‐oxo‐2‐phenyl‐1,2‐oxaphosphole was studied in different reaction conditions. The structures of the two isomers were determined by X‐ray crystallography and by ab initio molecular orbital calculations.     

Synthesis of novel aminophosphonic acids with hydantoin structure

The novel α‐aminophosphonic acids with hydantoin structure have been synthesized reacting 5,5‐dimetylhydantoin with formaldehyde and phosphorus trichloride, or via Kabachnik–Fields reaction. Their structures were proved by means of IR, ¹H, ¹³C{¹H}, and ³¹P NMR spectroscopy. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Ice-mediated coating of macroporous cryogels by carbon nanotubes: a concept towards electrically conducting nanocomposites

Electrically conducting super-macroporous polymer/carbon nanotubes (CNTs) composites have been fabricated with the aid of cryogenic treatment. CNTs are selectively deposited onto the inner surface of interconnected polymer walls surrounding large air-filled pores. The present concept provides highly conducting nanocomposites at a very low nanotubes content.     

N,N′-Di-Boc-2H-Isoindole-2-carboxamidine—First Guanidine-Substituted Isoindole

Synthesis of N,N′-Di-Boc-2H-isoindole-2-carboxamidine, the first representative of isoindoles containing guanidine functionality, was carried out. The cycloaddition reactivity of this new Diels–Alder heterodiene was studied and the title compound was employed as a cycloaddition delivery reagent for guanidine functionality. Higher reactivity was found in comparison with the corresponding pyrrole derivative. Substitution with fluorine or guanidine functionality does not change the reactivities of isoindoles, and these findings are in good accord with computational results.     

Mössbauer and Nuclear orientation study of magnetic atom behaviour in AuFe below the percolation threshold

An⁵⁷Fe Mössbauer study and⁶⁰Co and⁵⁴Mn nuclear orientation (NO) studies of the Au₈₆Fe₁₄ alloy have been performed. A transition to the spin glass state was observed below approximately 50 K. NO of the⁶⁰Co impurity showed absence of the polarization of the⁶⁰Co nuclei. For⁵⁴Mn impurities the dependence of the Mn effective magnetic field on external field andtemperature was found.     

Birkhoff coordinates for KdV on phase spaces of distributions

The purpose of this paper is to extend the construction of Birkhoff coordinates for the KdV equation from the phase space of square integrable 1-periodic functions with mean value zero to the phase space of mean value zero distributions from the Sobolev space endowed with the symplectic structure More precisely, we construct a globally defined real-analytic symplectomorphism where is a weighted Hilbert space of sequences supplied with the canonical Poisson structure so that the KdV Hamiltonian for potentials in is a function of the actions alone.     

QED limits for many-server systems under a priority policy

A multi-class many-server priority system operating in the quality-and-efficiency-driven regime is considered. Both arrival processes and service times are general. The many-server heavy-traffic diffusion asymptotic is characterized in terms of the corresponding limiting infinite-server process.     

Qualitative Features of Periodic Solutions of KdV

In this paper we prove new qualitative features of solutions of KdV on the circle. The first result says that the Fourier coefficients of a solution of KdV in Sobolev space H ^N , N ≥ 0, admit a WKB type expansion up to first order with strongly oscillating phase factors defined in terms of the KdV frequencies. The second result provides estimates for the approximation of such a solution by trigonometric polynomials of sufficiently large degree.     

Synthesis and characterization of novel (9H‐fluoren‐9‐ylamino) carbonylaminomethylphosphonic acid

The new α‐aminophosphonic acids are synthesized, reacting (9H‐fluoren‐9‐yl)urea with formaldehyde and phosphorus trichloride. (9H‐Fluoren‐9‐yl)urea was prepared from spiro(fluoren‐9,4′‐imidazolidine)‐2′,5′‐dione by alkaline hydrolysis with Ba(OH)₂. Nanostructured Crosslinkable Micropatterns by Amphiphilic Dendrimer Stamping

Summary: Microcontact printing was used to deposit stable, nanostructured, amphiphilic and crosslinkable patterns of poly(amidoamine organosilicon) (PAMAMOS)‐dimethoxymethylsilyl (DMOMS) dendrimer multilayers onto silicon wafers, glass, and polyelectrolyte multilayers. The effects of dendrimer ink concentration, contact time, and inking method, on the thickness, uniformity, and stability of the resulting patterns were studied using optical microscopy, fluorescence microscopy, atomic force microscopy (AFM), and contact‐angle analysis. Microarrayed dendrimer film thickness was found to be controllable by conditions used during spin self‐assembly.
