[structure: see text] We report a study of the interaction between methylmethanetriacetic acid (MMTA) and a tripodal amidopyridine receptor 1, where the geometry of the binding is in part governed by a weak C-H/pi interaction in the presence of six strong N(O)-H.O(N) hydrogen bonds. There are two possible binding geometries for the 1:1 complex 1.MMTA; combining computational and experimental evidence we demonstrate that the endo binding mode is more favorable as the result of a C-H/pi interaction.  相似文献

Ab initio calculations were performed on complexes between cations and s-triazine, which has a small and positive quadrupole moment. Minimum energy pi-complexes were found between s-triazine and cations. Minimum pi-complexes with anions were previously reported. This ability of s-triazine to form stable complexes with either anions or cations is studied using several theoretical methods. A likely explanation of this duality is the stabilization obtained from the ion-induced polarization. [structure: see text]  相似文献

It was previously shown that opsin can be regenerated with the newly synthesized 11‐cis‐7‐methyl‐retinal forming an artificial visual pigment. We now extend this study to include mutants at positions close to the retinal to further dissect the interactions of native and artificial chromophores with opsin. Several mutants at M207, W265 and Y268 have been obtained and regenerated with 11‐cis‐retinal and the 7‐methyl analog. M207 is the site of the point mutation M207R associated with the retinal degenerative disease retinitis pigmentosa. All the studied mutants regenerated with 11‐cis‐retinal except for M207C which proved to be completely misfolded. The naturally occurring M207R mutant formed a pigment with an unprotonated Schiff base linkage, altered photobleaching and low MetarhodopsinII stability. Mutants regenerated with the 7‐methyl analog showed altered photobleaching reflecting a structural perturbation in the vicinity of M207. The newly obtained mutants at M207 also showed reduced levels of transducin activation with M207R showing essentially no transducin activation. Our results highlight the tight coupling of the vicinity of C7 of retinal and M207 and support the involvement of this amino acid residue in the conformational changes associated with rhodopsin photoactivation.  相似文献

For the first time to our knowledge, X‐ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) has been used to investigate the environment of putative Zn2+ binding sites in rhodopsin. We studied native purified nondeionized rhodopsin without any further addition of Zn2+, as well as with 1.5 mol of Zn2+—as zinc chloride—per mole of protein. Three different binding sites in rhodopsin were considered based on computational chemistry studies, and a quantitative analysis of the XAS signal was performed by fitting the experimental data to their simulated XAS spectra. Our results demonstrate that Zn2+ is intrinsically bound to rhodopsin and are compatible with the existence of an octahedral coordination involving six oxygen atoms in the first shell (average Zn‐O distance of 2.08 Å), and with a second coordination shell containing one or two phosphorus or sulfur atoms at an average distance of 2.81 Å.  相似文献

This paper investigates the resilience of an elementary electricity system (machine-generator) under proportional and derivative (PD) control when subject to large perturbations. A particular attention is paid to small power grids, representative of power grid structure in some developing countries. The considered elementary electricity system consists of a consumer (machine), a power plant (generator) and a transmission line. Both Runge-Kutta and Newton methods are used to solve the dynamical equations and the characteristic equations for stability. It is found that the controller increases the resilience of the system. We also show that time delays associated to the feedback loop of the controller have a negative impact on the performance. It is also shown that the asymmetry due to energy demand of different consumers to power plant increases the stability of the system.  相似文献

This study details an industrial process to prepare polypropylene (PP) composites reinforced with different loadings (0.5–10wt.%) of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) from a direct dilution of a masterbatch produced by an optimized extrusion compounding process. The work demonstrates how the anisotropy in the distribution of CNTs can have a positive effect on the electrical conductivity and fracture toughness of the resulting composites. The composite with the highest loading of CNTs had an electrical conductivity of 10?2 S/m comparable with those reported in the available literature. The composites showed anisotropy in their properties that seems to be caused by the non‐homogeneous distribution of the agglomerates produced by the orientation of the flow direction during the injection process. The composites produced in this work exhibited a fracture toughness up to 55% higher than neat PP and failed by polymer ductile tearing. It was found that the CNT agglomerates distributed throughout the matrix increased the toughness of PP by promoting plastic deformation of the matrix during the fracture process and by a slight load transfer between the polymer matrix and the CNTs of the agglomerates. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
