We introduce a pseudosymmetry analysis of molecular orbitals by means of the newly proposed irreducible representation measures. To do that we define first what we consider as molecular pseudosymmetry and the relationships of this concept with those of approximate symmetry and quasisymmetry. We develop a general algorithm to quantify the pseudosymmetry content of a given object within the framework of the finite group algebra. The obtained mathematical expressions are able to decompose molecular orbitals by means of the irreducible representations of any reference symmetry point group. The implementation and usefulness of the pseudosymmetry analysis of molecular orbitals is demonstrated in the study of σ and π orbitals in planar and nonplanar polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and the t2g and eg character of the d‐orbitals in the [FeH6]3? anion in its high spin state along the Bailar twist pathway. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

Eleven experimentally characterized complexes containing heterobimetallic bonds between elements of the f-block and other elements were examined by quantum chemical methods: [(η(5)-C(5)H(5))(2)(THF)LuRu(η(5)-C(5)H(5))(CO)(2)], [(η(5)-C(5)Me(5))(2)(I)ThRu(η(5)-C(5)H(5))(CO)(2)], [(η(5)-C(5)H(5))(2)YRe(η(5)-C(5)H(5))(2)], [{N(CH(2)CH(2)NSiMe(3))(3)}URe(η(5)-C(5)H(5))(2)], [Y{Ga(NArCh)(2)}{C(PPh(2)NSiH(3))(2)}(CH(3)OCH(3))(2)], [{N(CH(2)CH(2)NSiMe(3))(3)}U{Ga(NArCH)(2)}(THF)], [(η(5)-C(5)H(5))(3)UGa(η(5)-C(5)Me(5))], [Yb(η(5)-C(5)H(5)){Si(SiMe(3))(3)(THF)(2)}], [(η(5)-C(5)H(5))(3)U(SnPh(3))], [(η(5)-C(5)H(5))(3)U(SiPh(3))], and (Ph[Me]N)(3)USi(SiMe(3))(3). Geometries in good agreement with experiment were obtained at the density functional level of theory. The multiconfigurational complete active space self-consistent field method (CASSCF) and subsequent corrections with second order perturbation theory (CASPT2) were applied to further understand the electronic structure of the lanthanide/actinide-metal (or metal-metalloid) bonds. Fragment calculations and energy-decomposition analyses were also performed and indicate that charge transfer occurs from one supported metal fragment to the other, while the bonding itself is always dominated by ionic character.  相似文献

We introduce a time-domain model to study the dynamics of optoelectronic oscillators. We show that, due to the interaction between nonlinearity and time delay, the envelope amplitude of ultrapure microwaves generated by optoelectronic oscillators can turn unstable when the gain is increased beyond a given critical value. Our analytical predictions are confirmed by numerical simulations and experiments.  相似文献

Several complexes of tropylium (1) with anions are optimized at the RI-MP2(full)/6-31++G** level of theory. This binding unit can interact very favorably with anions, and it combines the strength of the electrostatic interaction with the directionality of the anion-pi interaction. The complexes of 1 with anions are characterized by means of the Bader theory of "atoms-in-molecules," and the physical nature of the interaction has been analyzed by means of the molecular interaction potential with polarization tool. Experimental evidence of anion-pi interactions involving seven-membered rings has been found in the solid state.  相似文献

A Mott‐type semiconductor based on a compactly fused and partially oxidized electron donor–acceptor (D–A) molecule was recently prepared and identified to exhibit a large room‐temperature conductivity of 2 S cm?1. In a marked contrast to the organic conductors characterized by relatively well decoupled and segregated uniform stacks of D and A moieties, the formally half‐oxidized tetrathiafulvalene donors of the actual compound are organized in columnar π stacks only, whereby the coplanar electron‐acceptor units, namely benzothiadiazole, are closely annulated along their ridges. Herein, we present a theoretical study that explores the electronic structure of this novel type of organic semiconductor. The highly symmetric‐solid state material behaves as a one‐dimensional electronic system with strong antiferromagnetic interactions (coupling constant>200 cm?1). The unique shape and local dipole of this redox‐active fused electron D–A molecule lays the basis for further investigations of the collective electronic structure, mainly in the function of different counterions embedded in the crystalline lattice.  相似文献

It was previously shown that opsin can be regenerated with the newly synthesized 11‐cis‐7‐methyl‐retinal forming an artificial visual pigment. We now extend this study to include mutants at positions close to the retinal to further dissect the interactions of native and artificial chromophores with opsin. Several mutants at M207, W265 and Y268 have been obtained and regenerated with 11‐cis‐retinal and the 7‐methyl analog. M207 is the site of the point mutation M207R associated with the retinal degenerative disease retinitis pigmentosa. All the studied mutants regenerated with 11‐cis‐retinal except for M207C which proved to be completely misfolded. The naturally occurring M207R mutant formed a pigment with an unprotonated Schiff base linkage, altered photobleaching and low MetarhodopsinII stability. Mutants regenerated with the 7‐methyl analog showed altered photobleaching reflecting a structural perturbation in the vicinity of M207. The newly obtained mutants at M207 also showed reduced levels of transducin activation with M207R showing essentially no transducin activation. Our results highlight the tight coupling of the vicinity of C7 of retinal and M207 and support the involvement of this amino acid residue in the conformational changes associated with rhodopsin photoactivation.  相似文献

For the first time to our knowledge, X‐ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) has been used to investigate the environment of putative Zn2+ binding sites in rhodopsin. We studied native purified nondeionized rhodopsin without any further addition of Zn2+, as well as with 1.5 mol of Zn2+—as zinc chloride—per mole of protein. Three different binding sites in rhodopsin were considered based on computational chemistry studies, and a quantitative analysis of the XAS signal was performed by fitting the experimental data to their simulated XAS spectra. Our results demonstrate that Zn2+ is intrinsically bound to rhodopsin and are compatible with the existence of an octahedral coordination involving six oxygen atoms in the first shell (average Zn‐O distance of 2.08 Å), and with a second coordination shell containing one or two phosphorus or sulfur atoms at an average distance of 2.81 Å.  相似文献
