Due to the increasing emergence of resistance of bacterial pathogens to current antibiotics, we have examined the marine fungi present in sea sediments obtained 200 m offshore to discover new antibacterial compounds active against multidrug-resistant bacteria. One strain, identified as Emericellopsis minima, was isolated from sediments of Talcahuano Bay (Chile). From the liquid culture of E. minima, we isolated Emerimicin IV, a unique fungal peptaibol that exhibited antibacterial activity. The structure of this compound was assigned by interpretation of 1H NMR and HR-LCMS data. Emerimicin IV showed bacteriostatic activity against clinical isolates of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecalis with MIC values ranging between 100 and 12.5 μg/mL. 相似文献

We make use of two different methodologies to study the transition probabilities in a molecular anharmonic system in the presence of an external perturbation. For the first method, we use a series expansion of the displacement coordinate keeping up to fourth order terms; for the second method we use a deformed algebra to approximate the anharmonic Hamiltonian via a harmonic oscillator's Hamiltonian written in terms of deformed operators. We evaluate vibrational transition probabilities as a function of the collision energy and compare the results obtained with the two approaches. 相似文献

We review our recent modelling work of carbon nanotubes as potential candidates for heat dissipation in microelectronics cooling. In the first part, we analyze the impact of nanotube defects on their thermal transport properties. In the second part, we investigate the loss of thermal properties of nanotubes in presence of an interface with various substances, including air and water. Motivated by optimization problems in sensor coverage, we formulate and study the Minimum-Area Spanning Tree (mast) problem: Given a set of n points in the plane, find a spanning tree of of minimum “area”, where the area of a spanning tree is the area of the union of the n−1 disks whose diameters are the edges in . We prove that the Euclidean minimum spanning tree of is a constant-factor approximation for mast. We then apply this result to obtain constant-factor approximations for the Minimum-Area Range Assignment (mara) problem, for the Minimum-Area Connected Disk Graph (macdg) problem, and for the Minimum-Area Tour (mat) problem. The first problem is a variant of the power assignment problem in radio networks, the second problem is a related natural problem, and the third problem is a variant of the traveling salesman problem. 相似文献

In this report, we focus our attention on the characterization of 2,2,2‐trifluoroethanol(TFE)/H2O mixtures and describe their intrinsic parameters; i.e., solvent acidity (SA), solvent basicity (SB), and solvent dipolarity/polarizability (SPP), by the probe/homomorph‐couple method for a range of mixtures from 0–100% (v/v) TFE. Variation of these parameters is not linear and has a singular and unpredictable behavior depending on the precise composition of the mixture. Based on these parameters, we describe the TFE‐induced changes in some physical properties; i.e., viscosity (η), partial molar volume (V?), density (ρ), dielectric constant (ε), vapor pressure (pv), and spectroscopic properties; i.e., NMR chemical shifts (δ(1H)) of TFE Me group for all molar fractions studied. In addition, by means of CD studies, we report that formation of the secondary structure, as percentage of helical content, θ, of a polypeptide, poly(L ‐lysine), in several TFE/H2O mixtures is adequately described by these mixture parameters. SA, SB, and SPP of TFE/H2O mixtures provide an excellent tool for the interpretation of formation and stability of intramolecular H‐bonds, and, thus, of secondary structures in polypeptides. 相似文献

A surfactant-assisted preparation method was successfully used to synthesize the Ce0.8Zr0.2O2 nanophases that had homogeneous chemical composition, enhanced thermal stability and improved catalytic activity. Structural refinement by the Rietveld method confirmed that many cationic lattice defects were formed in the ceria-zirconia crystals due to incorporation of the cationic surfactant in the network of the solid. Zirconium dissolving into cubic structure of ceria improved its thermal stability but led to structure distortion. FT-IR in situ characterization showed that CO chemisorption on the palladium loaded ceria-zirconia catalyst formed linear and multibonded CO–metal complexes. It was also evidenced that CO2 was produced in the CO chemisorption procedure from the pathways of CO disproportionation and CO reacting with lattice oxygen of the catalyst. Owing to high dispersion of the loaded metal palladium and defective structure of the ceria-zirconia support, the Pd/Ce0.8Zr0.2O2 catalyst calcined at a temperature range between 873 and 1173 K not only exhibited a more stable catalytic activity for CO oxidation but also performed a lower light-off temperature at cool start below 373 K in comparison with Pd/CeO2. 相似文献

The application of a catalytic membrane in the oxidative desulfurization of a multicomponent model diesel formed by most refractory sulfur compounds present in fuel is reported here for the first time. The catalytic membrane was prepared by the impregnation of the active lamellar [Gd(H4nmp)(H2O)2]Cl·2H2O (UAV-59) coordination polymer (CP) into a polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA, acrylic glass) supporting membrane. The use of the catalytic membrane in the liquid–liquid system instead of a powder catalyst arises as an enormous advantage associated with the facility of catalyst handling while avoiding catalyst mass loss. The optimization of various parameters allowed to achieve a near complete desulfurization after 3 h under sustainable conditions, i.e., using an aqueous H2O2 as oxidant and an ionic liquid as extraction solvent ([BMIM]PF6, 1:0.5 ratio diesel:[BMIM]PF6). The performance of the catalytic membrane and of the powdered UAV-59 catalyst was comparable, with the advantage that the former could be recycled successfully for a higher number of desulfurization cycles without the need of washing and drying procedures between reaction cycles, turning the catalytic membrane process more cost-efficient and suitable for future industrial application. 相似文献

While graphs are normally defined in terms of the 2-place relation of adjacency, we take the 3-place relation of interception as the basic primitive of their definition.
