The electronic structure of spiro[4.4]nonatetraene 1 as well as that of its radical anion and cation were studied by different spectroscopies. The electron‐energy‐loss spectrum in the gas phase revealed the lowest triplet state at 2.98 eV and a group of three overlapping triplet states in the 4.5 – 5.0 eV range, as well as a number of valence and Rydberg singlet excited states. Electron‐impact excitation functions of pure vibrational and triplet states identified various states of the negative ion, in particular the ground state with an attachment energy of 0.8 eV, an excited state corresponding to a temporary electron attachment to the 2b1 MO at an attachment energy of 2.7 eV, and a core excited state at 4.0 eV. Electronic‐absorption spectroscopy in cryogenic matrices revealed several states of the positive ion, in particular a richly structured first band at 1.27 eV, and the first electronic transition of the radical anion. Vibrations of the ground state of the cation were probed by IR spectroscopy in a cryogenic matrix. The results are discussed on the basis of density‐functional and CASSCF/CASPT2 quantum‐chemical calculations. In their various forms, the calculations successfully rationalized the triplet and the singlet (valence and Rydberg) excitation energies of the neutral molecule, the excitation energies of the radical cation, its IR spectrum, the vibrations excited in the first electronic absorption band, and the energies of the ground and the first excited states of the anion. The difference of the anion excitation energies in the gas and condensed phases was rationalized by a calculation of the Jahn‐Teller distortion of the anion ground state. Contrary to expectations based on a single‐configuration model for the electronic states of 1 , it is found that the gap between the first two excited states is different in the singlet and the triplet manifold. This finding can be traced to the different importance of configuration interaction in the two multiplicity manifolds.  相似文献

Zn(II) and Cu(II) porphyrins with beta-conjugated barbiturate functional groups have low-energy electronic transitions which are unusual in that there are two strong bands in the Soret region. Resonance excitation of the two bands shows that each has features characteristic of both the porphyrin and barbiturate groups, with some perturbation to these features caused by the interaction of the two chromophores. The resonance Raman (RR) spectrum (lambda(exc)=413.1 nm) of the 412 nm band shows two bands at 1722 and 1743 cm(-1) attributable to C==O stretches in the substituent. Changes in frequency of porphyrin core modes due to the differing metal centres are reproduced by density functional theory calculations. The Q band RR spectra show modes with anomalous polarization which may be attributed to A(2g) modes, however no overtone or combination bands are observed.  相似文献

A tandem column solid phase extraction (SPE) procedure has been devised to examine the fractionation of Fe in wine. Wine was filtered through a 0.45 μm filter and then, the filtrate was driven through an adsorbing Amberlite XAD-7HP column followed by a cation exchange Dowex 50W-x8-200 column. Three different Fe groupings are discriminated and assessed, including hydrophobic species of Fe bound to phenolic substances and related species (phenolic fraction), cationic species comprising simple Fe ions and labile Fe forms (cationic fraction), in addition to anionic and/or neutral Fe complexes with organic acids (residual fraction). The suitability of the procedure has been evaluated analyzing four bottled red wines. The results obtained were verified using another tandem column assemblage in which an adsorbing Amberlite XAD-16 column was exchanged by the Amberlite XAD-7HP column. The fractionation pattern ascertained for Fe in analyzed wines is discussed in reference to previously published works. In addition, a conditioning treatment and preparation of Amberlite XAD resins have been revised.  相似文献

Inelastic interactions of electrons with surfaces of ionic crystals result in emission of various particles such as ions, atoms and molecules. We will review such electron-stimulated desorption processes for the particular class of ionic crystals, namely for alkali halides. In this case, a dominant fraction of the emission is in the form of halogen and alkali atoms characterized by a thermal (Maxwellian) spectrum of translational energies. For several alkali halides (potassium and rubidium chlorides, bromides, and iodides), however, a significant part of the halogen atoms is ejected with nonthermal energies, i.e. energies of the order of 0.1 eV. The results of recent systematic studies of angular-resolved kinetic energy distributions of the emitted particles will be reported and current views on the electronic mechanisms of desorption will be described. In particular, it will be shown that the ESD mechanism can be understood in terms of the model involving a surface localisation of the so called “hot-holes” created by electron bombardment of alkali halides. A role of hot holes in ESD processes will further be discussed in relation to very recent experimental results obtained for the KBr crystals doped with In impurities which act as efficient hole traps.  相似文献

The E(4) 1Πu←X 1Σ+g band system of the K2 molecule is investigated by the technique of Doppler-free optical–optical double resonance polarization spectroscopy. The observed vibrational levels v=0 to 9 of the E state are subject to numerous rotational perturbations by the neighboring 4 3Πu, 4 1Σ+u, and 5 3Σ+u electronic states. By using deperturbation methods, the potential curves of the 4 1Πu and 4 3Πu states are determined as well as some properties of the 4 1Σ+u and 5 3Σ+u state potentials. Poly(δ‐valerolactone) (PVL) crystals in the form of chain‐folded lamellae were prepared by isothermal crystallization from a 2‐methylbutane‐2‐ol solution. Wide‐angle and small‐angle X‐ray diffraction data, obtained from PVL lamellae sedimented to form oriented mats, were supplemented with morphological and structural data from electron microscopy, both imaging and diffraction. The diffraction signals index on an orthorhombic unit cell with the parameters a = 0.747 ± 0.002 nm, b = 0.502 ± 0.002 nm, and c (chain axis) = 0.742 ± 0.002 nm. Similar unit cell parameters were obtained from crystals grown from 1‐octanol and also from drawn melt‐pressed films. The evidence supports a model containing two antiparallel chain segments in the unit cell. The c value of 0.742 nm is appropriate for an all‐trans or onefold helical backbone conformation for the straight stems. Possible slight perturbations at the ester units from the all‐trans backbone conformation are discussed. Computerized modeling was used to optimize the adjacent‐reentry folded structure. The setting angles, with respect to the a axis, are ±58° for the corner and center chains. The lamellae are 7.26 ± 0.05 nm thick, and the chains run orthogonal to the lamellar surface. The chains fold in the diagonal (110) and (11¯0) planes in an alternating fashion. The X‐ray diffraction data suggest that a proportion of adjacent paired antiparallel entities, or hairpin units, are c‐axis‐sheared, and a relationship to the results obtained from drawn films is discussed. A new location problem is formulated and solved. It is the continuous version of the grey pattern problem which is a special case of the Quadratic Assignment Problem. The problem is a minimization of a convex function subject to non-convex constraints and has infinitely many optimal solutions. We propose several mathematical programming formulations that are suitable for a multi-start heuristic algorithm. In addition to solving these formulations by the Solver in Excel and Mathematica, a special Nelder–Mead algorithm is proposed. This special algorithm provided the best results. One suggested modification may improve the performance of the Nelder–Mead algorithm for other optimization problems as well.  相似文献
