The effect of dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) human fibroblast-like synoviocytes (FLSs) has been studied on five different samples harvested from the joints (fingers, hands and pelvis) of five women with RA. At high concentrations (>5%), the presence of DMSO induces the cleavage of caspase-3 and PARP-1, two phenomena associated with the cell death mechanism. Even at a 0.5% concentration of DMSO, MTT assays show a strong toxicity after 24 h exposure (≈25% cell death). Therefore, to ensure a minimum impact of DMSO on RA FLSs, our study shows that the concentration of DMSO has to be below 0.05% to be considered safe.  相似文献

The Keldysh theory of above-threshold ionization (ATI) is applied to few-cycle laser pulses in order to explore the potential of a recently published new method to measure "carrier-envelope phase difference" phenomena. In this experiment, the carrier-envelope phase difference dependent left-right asymmetry of few-cycle ATI was measured and investigated with a correlation technique. Here, we explore spectral features of the asymmetry, present a theoretical analysis of the experiment, and establish a method to determine the duration of few-cycle pulses whose carrier-envelope phase differences are not controlled.  相似文献

Detailed investigations of laser–ion interactions require well-defined ion targets and detection techniques for high-sensitivity measurements of reaction educts and products. To this end, we have designed and built the High-Intensity Laser-Ion Trap Experiment Penning trap setup, which features various ion-target preparation techniques including selection, cooling, compression, and positioning as well as destructive and non-destructive measurement techniques to determine the number of stored ions for all charge states individually and simultaneously. We have recently performed first commissioning experiments of ion deceleration and dynamic ion capture with highly charged ion bunches from an electron beam ion source. We have characterized our single-pass non-destructive ion counter in detail and were able to determine the ion velocity as well as the number of ions from the signals acquired.  相似文献

The support material can play an important role in oxidation catalysis, notably for CO oxidation. Here, we study two materials of the Brownmillerite family, CaFeO2.5 and SrFeO2.5, as one example of a stoichiometric phase (CaFeO2.5, CFO) and one existing in different modifications (SrFeO2.75, SrFeO2.875 and SrFeO3, SFO). The two materials are synthesized using two synthesis methods, one bottom-up approach via a complexation route and one top-down method (electric arc fusion), allowing to study the impact of the specific surface area on the oxygen mobility and catalytic performance. CO oxidation on 18O-exchanged materials shows that oxygen from SFO participates in the reaction as soon as the reaction starts, while for CFO, this onset takes place 185 °C after reaction onset. This indicates that the structure of the support material has an impact on the catalytic performance. We report here on significant differences in the catalytic activity linked to long-term stability of CFO and SFO, which is an important parameter not only for possible applications, but equally to better understand the mechanism of the catalytic activity itself.  相似文献

The recently developed High Frequency Mode HFM of electron gas SNMS allows investigations on insulating samples with the well known advantages of the SNMS Direct Bombardment Mode DBM for the analysis of conducting samples. HFM has been applied to analyses of different historic ceramic and glass samples in order to demonstrate the possibilities of SNMS in this field. It is shown that manufacturing places of ceramic samples could be distinguished by SNMS mass spectra ("fingerprints"). Furthermore questions of the constituents of colour remains on a painted ceramic ("Kaisermedaillon") could be answered by our SNMS analyses. SNMS investigations have been also applied to corrosion phenomena on different glass samples.  相似文献
