Reversed-phase liquid chromatography was coupled to a multi-detection system composed of ultraviolet (UV) detection, evaporative laser scattering detection (ELSD) and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). By applying the principle of post-column solvent compensation, the organic modifier content was kept constant in ELSD and ICP-MS under gradient elution. Chlorine ((35)Cl), bromine ((79)Br and (81)Br) and sulfur ((34)S) were monitored in several pharmaceutical compounds. The limit of quantitation (LOQ) was 80 ng/mL for chlorine (chlorpropamide) and 2 ng/mL for bromine (bromazepam). Calibration graphs were linear from 1.0 microg/mL to 100 microg/mL for chlorpropamide (r(2) 0.990) and from 10 ng/mL to 500 ng/mL for bromazepam (r(2) 0.996). The low LOQ value for bromine allows to quantify bromine in pharmaceutical samples below the 0.05% level of the active pharmaceutical ingredient.  相似文献

A new sampling method for the determination of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in ambient air is described. The method is based on active sampling on sorption tubes consisting of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) foam, PDMS particles and a TENAX TA bed. After sampling, the solutes are quantitatively recovered by thermal desorption and analysed by capillary GC-MS. The new sampling method has been compared to the classical method using high-volume sampling on a glass fiber filter followed by polyurethane foam for 24h sampling of ambient air. Volumes enriched were 144 l on the mixed bed and 1296 m3 with the classical method. The concentrations measured using the new method were significantly higher that the values obtained using the classical method, i.e. a factor 1.2-3 for the high molecular weight PAHs and up to 35 times for naphthalene and 23 times for acenaphthene. The total toxicity equivalence value (TEQ) for PAHs was ca. two times higher compared to the conventional method, illustrating that the concentrations of PAHs in ambient air have been underestimated until now. Some figures of merit (mean value for 17 PAHs) of the method are repeatability 7.4%, detection limit 13 pg/m3, accuracy 105.6% and linearity 0.996. The method also opens interesting perspectives for the determination of other semi-volatile persistent organic pollutants (POPs) in air as illustrated with the analysis of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) at a workplace during removal of transformer oil.  相似文献

Molecular p-dopants designed to undergo electron transfer with organic semiconductors are typically planar molecules with high electron affinity. However, their planarity can promote the formation of ground-state charge transfer complexes with the semiconductor host and results in fractional instead of integer charge transfer, which is highly detrimental to doping efficiency. Here, we show this process can be readily overcome by targeted dopant design exploiting steric hindrance. To this end, we synthesize and characterize the remarkably stable p-dopant 2,2′,2′′-(cyclopropane-1,2,3-triylidene)tris(2-(perfluorophenyl)acetonitrile) comprising pendant functional groups that sterically shield its central core while retaining high electron affinity. Finally, we demonstrate it outperforms a planar dopant of identical electron affinity and increases the thin film conductivity by up to an order of magnitude. We believe exploiting steric hindrance represents a promising design strategy towards molecular dopants of enhanced doping efficiency.  相似文献

In this work, we developed a PDMS electrophoresis device able to carry out on-chip derivatization and quantification of amino acids (AAs) using naphthalene-2,3-dicarboxaldehyde (NDA) as a fluorogenic agent. A chemical modification of the PDMS surface was found compulsory to achieve the derivatization of AAs with NDA and a limit of detection (LOD) of 40 nM was reached for glycine. Finally, we suggested the applicability of this microdevice for the analysis of real biological samples such as a rat hippocampus microdialysate.  相似文献

Phthalates have been used as plasticisers for several decades in various industry and consumer products. A method was developed for the determination of 13 not commonly monitored phthalates in household dust. The method was based on solvent extraction using sonication, sample clean-up by solid phase extraction (SPE), and analysis using isotope dilution gas chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (GC/MS/MS). The method was applied to the analysis of dust samples collected using two vacuum sampling techniques from 38 urban Canadian homes: a sample of fresh or ‘active’ dust (FD) collected by technicians and a composite sample taken from the household vacuum cleaner (HD). Spearman rank correlations between HD and FD samples were significant for six phthalates with median concentrations above their method detection limits (MDLs), suggesting that the HD samples provide comparable results with FD samples. Seven phthalates were detected and quantified in a Canada-wide set of 126 household dust samples, among which six phthalates were detected at frequencies higher than 87%, with median (range) concentrations of 1.9 (<0.42–240) (μg/g) for diisohexyl phthalate (DIHxP), 3.8 (<0.16–260) (μg/g) for di-n-heptyl phthalate (DHepP), 6.6 (<1.1–1170) (μg/g) for diisooctyl phthalate (DIOP), 1.1 (<0.12–390) (μg/g) for di-n-octyl phthalate (DOP), 6.3 (<0.16–430) (μg/g) for dinonyl phthalate (DNP), and 1.8 (<0.18–850) (μg/g) for di-n-decyl phthalate (DDP). High detection frequencies and widely scattered concentration levels of these phthalates in this preliminary set of 126 samples suggested a high variability in potential exposure to phthalates in Canadian homes. NIST SRM 2585 (organic contaminants in house dust) was also analysed; eight phthalates were detected, with concentrations ranging from 6.0 μg/g for DOP to 79 μg/g for DIHxP. The results from SRM 2585 may contribute to the certification of phthalate concentration values in this SRM.  相似文献

Pulsed lasers are widely used in capillary electrophoresis (CE) studies to provide laser induced fluorescence (LIF) detection. Unfortunately pulsed lasers do not give linear calibration curves over a wide range of concentrations. While this does not prevent their use in CE/LIF studies, the non-linear behavior must be understood. Using 7-hydroxycoumarin (7-HC) (10–5000 nM), Tamra (10–5000 nM) and tryptophan (1–200 μM) as dyes, we observe that continuous lasers and LEDs result in linear calibration curves, while pulsed lasers give polynomial ones. The effect is seen with both visible light (530 nm) and with UV light (355 nm, 266 nm). In this work we point out the formation of byproducts induced by pulsed laser upon irradiation of 7-HC. Their separation by CE using two Zeta LIF detectors clearly shows that this process is related to the first laser detection. All of these photodegradation products can be identified by an ESI-/MS investigation and correspond to at least two 7HC dimers. By using the photodegradation model proposed by Heywood and Farnsworth (2010) and by taking into account the 7-HC results and the fact that in our system we do not have a constant concentration of fluorophore, it is possible to propose a new photochemical model of fluorescence in LIF detection. The model, like the experiment, shows that it is difficult to obtain linear quantitation curves with pulsed lasers while UV-LEDs used in continuous mode have this advantage. They are a good alternative to UV pulsed lasers. An application involving the separation and linear quantification of oligosaccharides labeled with 2-aminobezoic acid is presented using HILIC and LED (365 nm) induced fluorescence.  相似文献

The enantiomeric composition of several chiral markers in lavender essential oil was studied by flow modulated comprehensive two‐dimensional gas chromatography operated in the reverse flow mode and hyphenated to flame ionization and quadrupole mass spectrometric detection. Two capillary column series were used in this study, 2,3‐di‐O‐ethyl‐6‐Otert‐butyldimethylsilyl‐β‐cyclodextrin or 2,3,6‐tri‐O‐methyl‐β‐cyclodextrin, as the chiral column in the first dimension and α polyethylene glycol column in the second dimension. Combining the chromatographic data obtained on these column series, the enantiomeric and excess ratios for α‐pinene, β‐pinene, camphor, lavandulol, borneol, and terpinen‐4‐ol were determined. This maybe a possible route to assess the authenticity of lavender essential oil.  相似文献

An alternative method to determine the interstitial void volume and the external porosity inside a packed or a monolithic column was developed. The method is based on the total blocking of the mesopores of a porous support by filling them with a hydrophobic solvent. The strong interaction of the latter with the hydrophobic coating inside the pores keeps the solvent in position during the subsequent measurements. With the pores of the stationary phase material completely inaccessible for any type of polar molecules, the method allows to perform interstitial void measurements using small molecular weight (MW) molecules instead of the large MW molecules that need to be used in inverse size exclusion chromatography (ISEC). These small MW molecules are able to penetrate every corner of the interstitial volume and therefore lead to a very accurate determination of the external porosity. Since only one type of molecules needs to be injected, the often troublesome regression analysis needed in ISEC is omitted as well. In the present contribution, the method has been applied to a packed bed and a monolithic column to investigate the optimal conditions of flow velocity, liquid compositions, and unretained marker selection. The robustness and the repeatability of the method are discussed as well.  相似文献
