O-Directed free-radical hydrostannations of propargyl ethers, acetals, and alcohols with Ph3SnH and Et3B

Feasibility studies of the EXL setup for FAIR using the GSI storage ring ESR

The investigation of light-ion induced direct reactions in inverse kinematics, using stored and cooled radioactive beams, interacting with internal H, He, etc. gas-jet targets, bears a large potential for nuclear structure and astrophysics studies on exotic nuclei. An extended research project EXL has been accepted for the future facility FAIR in Darmstadt, Germany. In order to explore the experimental conditions for measurements planned at FAIR, a first test experiment for proving the feasibility of the EXL concept was performed.     

Synthesis of Indomorphan Pseudo‐Natural Product Inhibitors of Glucose Transporters GLUT‐1 and ‐3

Bioactive compound design based on natural product (NP) structure may be limited because of partial coverage of NP‐like chemical space and biological target space. These limitations can be overcome by combining NP‐centered strategies with fragment‐based compound design through combination of NP‐derived fragments to afford structurally unprecedented “pseudo‐natural products” (pseudo‐NPs). The design, synthesis, and biological evaluation of a collection of indomorphan pseudo‐NPs that combine biosynthetically unrelated indole‐ and morphan‐alkaloid fragments are described. Indomorphane derivative Glupin was identified as a potent inhibitor of glucose uptake by selectively targeting and upregulating glucose transporters GLUT‐1 and GLUT‐3. Glupin suppresses glycolysis, reduces the levels of glucose‐derived metabolites, and attenuates the growth of various cancer cell lines. Our findings underscore the importance of dual GLUT‐1 and GLUT‐3 inhibition to efficiently suppress tumor cell growth and the cellular rescue mechanism, which counteracts glucose scarcity.     

Meson decays in the non-relativistic quark model

Treating light as well as heavy pseudoscalar and vector mesons as non-relativistic quarkonia, we calculate various decay modes, including lowest QCD corrections. All decay modes studied are in good agreement with experiment, indicating that the quarkonium treatment is applicable to light mesons η, η′, π, also. Consistency of the quarkonium and current algebra treatments for the process π⁰ → 2λ leads to $\text{f}{}_{\mathrm{\pi }}\text{= (}\text{3}\text{2π}\text{)m}{}_{\mathrm{<mtext>u</mtext>}}\text{{1 ? (0.62/4π)α}{}_{\mathrm{<mtext>s</mtext>}}\text{(μ)},}\text{where}\text{m}{}_{\mathrm{<mtext>u</mtext>}}$ is the constituent u-quark mass, and $\text{f}{}_{\mathrm{\pi }}\text{? 93}\text{MeV}$.     

Qualitative behavior of global solutions to some nonlinear fourth order differential equations

We study global solutions to a fourth order semilinear ordinary differential equation. We determine sufficient conditions on the nonlinearity that ensure global continuation of the solutions. Furthermore, we discuss their qualitative behaviors such as oscillations and boundedness.
