Enhancement of relativistic third-harmonic generation by using an optically preformed periodic plasma waveguide was achieved. Resonant dependence of harmonic intensity on plasma density and density modulation parameters was observed, which is a distinct characteristic of quasi-phase-matching. 2-Aminobenzothiazole-6-carboxylic acid (1), on condensation with chloroacetyl chloride yielded 2-(2-chloroacetylamino)benzothiazole-6-carboxylic acid (2), which on amination with hydrazine hydrate yielded in turn 2-(2-hydrazinoacetylamino)benzo-thiazole-6-carboxylic acid (3). Compound 3, on condensation with various aromatic aldehydes afforded a series of 2-{2-[N'-(arylidene)hydrazino]acetylamino}benzothiazole-6-carboxylic acids 4a-h, which upon dehydrative annulation in the presence of chloroacetyl chloride and triethylamine yielded 2-{2-[3-chloro-2-(aryl)-4-oxoazetidin-1-ylamino]-acetylamino}benzothiazole-6-carboxylic acids 5a-h. The synthesized compounds 4a-h and 5a-h were screened for their antibacterial activity against four microorganisms: Staphylococcus aureus (Gram positive), Bacillus subtilis (Gram positive), Psuedomonas aeruginosa (Gram negative) and Escherichia coli (Gram negative). They were found to exhibit good to moderate antibacterial activity. The antifungal activity of these compounds were also tested against three different fungal species. We present an automated dielectrophoretic assisted cell sorting (DACS) device for dielectric characterization and isolation of neural cells. Dielectrophoretic (DEP) principles are often used to develop cell sorting techniques. Here we report the first statistically significant neuronal sorting using DACS to enrich neurons from a heterogeneous population of mouse derived neural stem/progenitor cells (NSPCs) and neurons. We also study the dielectric dispersions within a heterogeneous cell population using a Monte-Carlo (MC) simulation. This simulation model explains the trapping behavior of populations as a function of frequency and predicts sorting efficiencies. The platform consists of a DEP electrode array with three multiplexed trapping regions that can be independently activated at different frequencies. A novel microfluidic manifold enables cell sorting by trapping and collecting cells at discrete frequency bands rather than single frequencies. The device is used to first determine the percentage of cells trapped at these frequency bands. With this characterization and the MC simulation we choose the optimal parameters for neuronal sorting. Cell sorting experiments presented achieve a 1.4-fold neuronal enrichment as predicted by our model. 相似文献

We present measurements of transmission of infrared radiation through double-layer metallic grating structures. Each metal layer contains an array of subwavelength slits and supports transmission resonance in the absence of the other layer. The two metal layers are fabricated in close proximity to allow coupling of the evanescent field on individual layers. The transmission of the double layer is found to be surprisingly large at particular wavelengths, even when no direct line of sight exists through the structure as a result of the lateral shifts between the two layers. We perform numerical simulations using rigorous coupled wave analysis to explain the strong dependence of the peak transmission on the lateral shift between the metal layers. 相似文献

Diffuse reflectance spectra of the superionic conductor Ag2HgI4 powder were recorded between 4.2 K and 370 K and transformed into the Kubelka-Munk function. Six parameters of the spectral band of this function, related to the absorption band of the particular phase, were considered. The graph representing the logarithm of the integrated Kubelka-Munk spectral band versus inverse temperature was most informative. The Arrhenius behaviour of this function, in a temperature interval, was related to the existence of a phase with constant lattice structure. The non-Arrhenius behaviour was tentatively attributed to a temperature sensitive phase. Thus fifteen different crystalline phases were found, only four of them having been, up to now, unquestionably admitted. In particular, evidence was given for the existence of two superionically conducting phases and two room temperature phases. All the graphs representing the chosen parameters versus inverse temperature pointed to the existence of two separate sequences of phases: one generated by cooling gradually the β-phase, stable at room temperature, to low temperatures (β sequence), the other by heating the β-phase above the σ → β (T)+ transition point and cooling gradually the formed α'′-phase (α′ sequence). The concept of photon absorption thermal activation energy was introduced. Its largest value was of the order of magnitude of the electrical conductivity thermal activation energy of Ag2HgI4. Estimates of energy band gaps and their evolution with temperature were made. It is suggested that the polymorphism of the substance is the main reason for the hysteresis loop in the superionic conductivity transition region. The low temperature phases manifested luminescence caused by exciton decay. 相似文献
