The surface ligand composition of CdSe nanoparticles prepared using technical grade tri-n-octylphosphine oxide (TOPO) was investigated using a nucleophilic ligand displacement methodology and (31)P {(1)H} NMR spectroscopy. 4-(N,N-Dimethylamino)pyridine (DMAP) and benzyltrimethylammonium propionate were added to tetrahydrofuran solutions of CdSe nanoparticles prepared in technical grade TOPO. DMAP was shown to be a sufficiently strong nucleophile to displace the more weakly coordinating ligands, TOPO, TOPSe, di-n-octylphosphinate, and n-octylphosphonate (OPA). Benzyltrimethylammonium propionate was shown to be a stronger nucleophile than DMAP in that it could displace all the aforementioned surface-bound ligands as well as a previously unidentified surface-bound phosphorus species. Independent synthesis and (31)P {(1)H} NMR spectral matching confirmed that the new species was P,P'-(di-n-octyl) dihydrogen pyrophosphonic acid (PPA). The PPA was shown to form during the nanoparticle synthesis via the dehydrative condensation of OPA. CdSe nanoparticle syntheses were performed using pure TOPO and added OPA, and subsequent displacement experiments showed that OPA and PPA were the predominant surface-bound ligands. CdSe nanoparticle syntheses were performed using pure TOPO and added PPA, and subsequent displacement experiments showed that PPA was the predominant surface-bound ligand. PPA was also shown to have the greatest affinity for the nanoparticle surface of all the ligands investigated. Thus, a model for the surface ligand composition could be developed for nanoparticles prepared using technical grade TOPO or other high-boiling solvents with added acidic phosphorus compounds.  相似文献

Thermo-sensitive poly(2-isopropyl-2-oxazoline)s (PiPrOx) were functionalized with end groups of different polarity by living cationic ring-opening polymerization using the initiator and/or termination method as well as sequential block copolymerization with 2-methyl-2-oxazoline. As end groups, methyl, n-nonyl, piperidine, piperazine as well as oligo(ethylenglygol) and oligo(2-methyl-2-oxazoline) were introduced quantitatively. The lower critical solution temperature (LCST) of the aqueous solutions was investigated. The introduction of hydrophobic end groups decreases the LCST, while hydrophilic polymer tails raise the cloud point. In comparison to poly(N-isopropyl acrylamide), the impact of the end group polarity upon the modulation of the LCST was found to be significantly stronger. Surprisingly, terminal oligoethylenegycol units also decrease the LCST of PiPrOx, thus acting as moieties of higher hydrophobicity as compared to the poly(2-oxazoline) main chain. Together with the possible variation of the side group polarity, this allows a broad modulation of the LCST of poly(2-oxazoline)s.  相似文献

(H2O)(6) (-) appears as a "magic" number water cluster in (H2O)(n) (-) mass spectra. The structure of the (H2O)(6) (-) isomer dominating the experimental population has been established only recently [N. I. Hammer et al., J. Phys. Chem. A 109, 7896 (2005)], and the most noteworthy characteristic of this isomer is the localization of the excess electron in the vicinity of a double-acceptor monomer. In the present work, we use a quantum Drude model to characterize the low-energy isomers and the finite temperature properties of (H2O)(6) (-). Comparison with ab initio calculations shows that the use of a water model employing distributed polarizabilities and distributed repulsive sites is necessary to correctly reproduce the energy ordering of the low-lying isomers. Both the simulations and the ab initio calculations predict that there are several isomers of (H2O)(6) (-) significantly lower in energy than the experimentally observed species, suggesting that the experimental distribution is far from equilibrium.  相似文献

Gadolinium-based contrast agents (GBCAs) are used to provide diagnostic information in clinical magnetic resonance (MR) examinations. Gadolinium (Gd) has been detected in the brain, bone and skin of patients, months and years following GBCA administration, raising concerns about long term toxicity. Despite increased scrutiny, the concentration, chemical form and fate of the retained gadolinium species remain unknown. Importantly, the whole body biodistribution and organ clearance of GBCAs is poorly understood in humans. Gadolinium lacks suitable isotopes for nuclear imaging. We demonstrate that the yttrium-86 isotope can be used as a gadolinium surrogate. We show that Gd and their analogous Y complexes have similar properties both in solution and in vivo, and that yttrium-86 PET can be used to track the biodistribution of GBCAs over a two-day period.  相似文献

The visible absorption spectra of various substituted porphyrin compounds both in chloroform solution and as Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) solid-state films have been investigated. The porphyrin compounds examined were the Zn, Sn, Mg, and free base derivatives of 5,10,15,20-tetrakis[3,4-bis(2-ethylhexyloxy)phenyl]-21H,23H-porphine (EHO). Changes in the absorption spectra of these materials induced by their exposure to various organic compounds are reported with a view toward determining whether this is a useful approach toward an optical gas sensor.  相似文献

In this Article, we present our findings on the formation of metal sulfide nanocrystals from sulfur-alkylamine solutions. By pulsed field gradient diffusion NMR along with the standard toolbox of 1D and 2D NMR, we determined that sulfur-amine solutions used as a sulfur precursor exist as alkylammonium polysulfides at low temperatures. Upon heating to temperatures used in nanocrystal synthesis, the polysulfide ions react with excess amine to generate H(2)S, which combines with the metal precursor to form metal sulfide. Four different reaction pathways were found, each of which produced H(2)S and the byproducts identified in this Article. Thioamides were identified as an intermediate and were shown to exhibit much more rapid kinetics than sulfur-alkylamine solutions at low temperatures in the synthesis of metal sulfide nanocrystals.  相似文献

Hydrophilic (co)polymers carrying a thiocarbonyl thio end group such as poly(dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate), poly(ethylene oxide), and poly(ethylene oxide)‐block‐poly(dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate) have been evaluated as precursors of stabilizers in batch ab initio emulsion polymerization of styrene under acidic conditions to form electrosterically stabilized polystyrene latex particles. As a mixture of P(DMAEMA/H+Cl)‐RAFT and PEO‐RAFT failed to give satisfactory results, PEO‐RAFT was used as a control agent for the RAFT polymerization of DMAEMA, and the resulting block copolymer was successfully used in ab initio styrene emulsion polymerization.
