Euryale ferox is native to Southeast Asia and China, and it is one of the important aquatic food crops propagated mostly in eastern part of India. The aim of the present study was to characterize and evaluate the genetic diversity of ex situ collections of E. ferox germplasm from different geographical states of India using microsatellite (simple sequence repeats (SSRs)) markers. Ten SSR markers were analyzed to assess DNA fingerprinting and genetic diversity of 16 cultivated germplasm of E. ferox. Total 37 polymorphic alleles were recorded with an average of 3.7 allele frequency per primer. The polymorphic information content value varied from 0.204 to 0.735 with mean of 0.448. A high range of heterozygosity (Ho 0.228; He 0.512) was detected in the present study. The neighbor-joining (N-J) tree and the principle coordinate analysis showed that the germplasm divided in to three main clusters. The results of the present investigation comply that SSR markers are effective for computing genetic assessment of genetic diversity and similarity with classifying cultivated varieties of E. ferox. Evaluation of genetic diversity among Indian E. ferox germplasm could provide useful information for genetic improvement.  相似文献

Multiphase flows in porous media are encountered in several contexts—e.g., hydrocarbon recovery operations, battery electrodes, microfluidic devices, etc. Capillary-dominated flows are interesting due to the complex interplay of interfacial properties and pore geometries. Conventional hydrodynamic flow solvers are computationally inefficient in the capillary-dominated regime, particularly in complex pore structures. The algorithm developed here specifically targets this regime to reduce simulation times. We minimise the fluid–fluid and fluid–solid interaction energies through an approach inspired by the ferromagnetic Ising model. We validate the algorithm on (1) model pore geometries with analytical solutions for capillary action, and (2) rocks with available mercury porosimetry data. We validate its predictions for model geometries and sandstones using (1) curvatures calculated from theories developed by Mayer–Stowe–Princen, Ma and Morrow, and Mason and Morrow; (2) predictions from GeoDict, a commercial software package, which also includes a state-of-the-art drainage simulator; (3) mercury porosimetry data. Drainage capillary pressure curves predicted for Bentheimer and Fontainebleau rocks reasonably match porosimetry data.  相似文献

Attempts have been made to synthesize a few compositions Ce0.80La0.15Al0.05O1.90, Ce0.80Sm0.10Gd0.05Al0.05O1.90, and Ce0.80Gd0.10Sm0.05Al0.05O1.90 by citrate–nitrate auto-combustion method. The aim of the present investigation was to study the effect of co-doping and multiple doping on the ionic conductivity of CeO2 for its use as solid electrolyte in intermediate temperature solid oxide fuel cells. XRD patterns showed that all the samples have fluorite-type crystal structure similar to undoped ceria. Microstructures of thermally etched samples have been studied by scanning electron microscopy. Contributions of grains σ g and grain boundaries σ gb to the total conductivity σ T, have been determined using impedance analysis. Impedance measurements were made in the frequency range 1 Hz–1 MHz and temperature range 250–500 °C. Our experimental results show that multiple doping is more effective than co-doping for improving the oxide ion conductivity of ceria in the materials investigated in the present study.  相似文献

In this research, two crucial optimization problems of berth allocation and yard assignment in the context of bulk ports are studied. We discuss how these problems are interrelated and can be combined and solved as a single large scale optimization problem. More importantly we highlight the differences in operations between bulk ports and container terminals which highlights the need to devise specific solutions for bulk ports. The objective is to minimize the total service time of vessels berthing at the port. We propose an exact solution algorithm based on a branch and price framework to solve the integrated problem. In the proposed model, the master problem is formulated as a set-partitioning problem, and subproblems to identify columns with negative reduced costs are solved using mixed integer programming. To obtain sub-optimal solutions quickly, a metaheuristic approach based on critical-shaking neighborhood search is presented. The proposed algorithms are tested and validated through numerical experiments based on instances inspired from real bulk port data. The results indicate that the algorithms can be successfully used to solve instances containing up to 40 vessels within reasonable computational time.  相似文献

The first step in Agrobacterium tumefaciens infection of plants is the establishment of cell–cell contact between the two partners. However, failure to establish such contact makes many plants and explants recalcitrant to A. tumefaciens infection. Tea is one such example where even the popular inducer, acetosyringone failed to facilitate A. tumefaciens infection due to the presence of high amounts of bactericidal/bacteriostatic polyphenols. Quinones are formed as a result of polyphenols oxidation. They cause tissue browning and necrosis during the process of transformation, and in turn prevent A. tumefaciens infection. Compounds such as polyphenol adsorbents, i.e., polyvinylpyrrolidone and charcoal, and antioxidants like cysteine and ascorbic acid were screened to overcome tissue browning. Although these compounds enhanced the growth of A. tumefaciens, these failed to facilitate the infection of the leaves of either Kangra Jat, Tocklai Variety-1, UPASI-9, UPASI-10, and Stock-449 cultivars of tea. On the contrary, the presence of filter sterilized l-glutamine and l-glutamic acid in the co-cultivation medium facilitated successful A. tumefaciens infection of recalcitrant tea leaves. l-Glutamine and glutamic acid form harmless adducts by binding to quinones. Therefore, their presence in the co-cultivation medium allowed the tea leaves to remain living and appealing to the infecting A. tumefaciens. Successful A. tumefaciens infection of tea leaves was confirmed by positive signals in GUS assay, PCR, and Dot blot.  相似文献

A typical composition of the system Ce1  xGdxO2  δ with x = 0.15 (CGO15) has been synthesized by auto-combustion method. DTA/TGA of the precursor compound indicated the completion of reaction at about 270 °C. Greater than 95% of the theoretical density has been achieved by sintering at 1300 °C for 10 h. Single phase formation in as-burnt stage has been confirmed by its powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern. The structural morphology was studied employing bright field transmission electron micrograph (BFTEM) and high resolution transmission electron micrograph (HRTEM). BFTEM image indicates that particles are highly agglomerated and appear to be dispersed in amorphous matrix. Also BFTEM image reveals that the average particle size is 26 ± 5 nm. The presence of amorphous phase in as-prepared ash was also confirmed by HRTEM and selected area diffraction (SAD). The scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of the thermally etched system shows grains having an average size of 400 nm. Impedance measurements have been made in the frequency range 1 Hz to 1.3 MHz between 200 and 500 °C and the total conductivity was measured. An enhanced conductivity value is observed which may make this system suitable for application as a solid electrolyte material for intermediate temperature solid oxide fuel cells (IT-SOFCs).  相似文献
