The effect of Pt/Ni ratio on the surface properties and catalytic behavior of bimetallic PtNi catalysts for reforming of methane
with CO2 was studied. The TPR, FTIR of adsorbed CO and XPS data showed that introduction of a small amount of Pt (0.3 – 0.5 wt.%)
into the Ni catalyst leads to a decrease of the NiO size, its easy reduction and a uniform distribution of the nickel metal

Systematic set of experiments is performed to clarify the effects of several factors on the size distribution of the daughter drops, which are formed as a result of drop breakage during emulsification in turbulent flow. The effects of oil viscosity, etaD, interfacial tension, sigma, and rate of energy dissipation in the turbulent flow, epsilon, are studied. As starting oil-water premixes we use emulsions containing monodisperse oil drops, which have been generated by membrane emulsification. By passing these premixes through a narrow-gap homogenizer, working in turbulent regime of emulsification, we monitor the changes in the drop-size distribution with the emulsification time. Organic thiols have received extensive attention recently because of their relative stability and ease of examination compared to other potential molecular electronic materials. In this work, scanning probe microscopy (SPM) is used to study (i) the structural properties of self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) containing conjugated dithiols and (ii) the formation of the upper molecule-metal interface on dithiol SAMs. The top gold film is deposited either by thermal evaporation or by nano-transfer printing (nTP). Generally, the utility of thermal evaporation is limited because of Au diffusion through the SAMs. However, several dithiol SAMs are identified in this work that bond well to Au overlayers and act as satisfactory diffusion barriers. Coassembly of conjugated dithiols and alkanemonothiols is suggested as a route to obtain dithiols that are denser packed and more vertical (than is obtained from pure dithiol routes). High-yield nTP is demonstrated on coassembled SAMs. Advantages and limitations of different Au deposition and transfer techniques are compared on a variety of length scales. 相似文献

Novel gold nanoparticles modified with a mixed self-assembled monolayer of porphyrin alkanethiol and short-chain alkanethiol were prepared (first step) to examine the size and shape effects of surface holes (host) on porphyrin-modified gold nanoparticles. The porphyrin-modified gold nanoparticles with a size of about 10 nm incorporated C60 molecules (guest) into the large, bucket-shaped holes, leading to the formation of a supramolecular complex of porphyrin-C60 composites (second step). Large composite clusters with a size of 200-400 nm were grown from the supramolecular complex of porphyrin-C60 composites in mixed solvents (third step) and deposited electrophoretically onto nanostructured SnO2 electrodes (fourth step). Differences in the porphyrin:C60 ratio were found to affect the structures and photoelectrochemical properties of the composite clusters in mixed solvents as well as on the SnO2 electrodes. The photoelectrochemical performance of a photoelectrochemical device consisting of SnO2 electrodes modified with the porphyrin-C60 composites was enhanced relative to a reference system with small, wedged-shaped surface holes on the gold nanoparticle. Time-resolved transient absorption spectroscopy with fluorescence lifetime measurements suggest the occurrence of ultrafast electron transfer from the porphyrin excited singlet states to C60 or the formation of a partial charge-transfer state in the composite clusters of supramolecular complexes formed between porphyrin and C60 leading to efficient photocurrent generation in the system. Elucidation of the relationship between host-guest interactions and photoelectrochemical function in the present system will provide valuable information on the design of molecular devices and machines including molecular photovoltaics. 相似文献

The formation of spanning hydrogen-bonded water networks on protein surfaces by a percolation transition is closely connected with the onset of their biological activity. To analyze the structure of the hydration water at this important threshold, we performed the first computer simulation study of the percolation transition of water in a model protein powder and on the surface of a single protein molecule. The formation of an infinite water network in the protein powder occurs as a 2D percolation transition at a critical hydration level, which is close to the values observed experimentally. The formation of a spanning 2D water network on a single rigid protein molecule can be described by adapting the cluster analysis of conventional percolation studies to the characterization of the connectivity of the hydration water on the surface of finite objects. Strong fluctuations of the surface water network are observed close to the percolation threshold. Our simulations also furnish a microscopic picture for understanding the specific values of the experimentally observed hydration levels, where different steps of increasing mobility in the hydrated powder are observed. 相似文献

Boron dipyrromethene (BODIPY), which is commonly used as an energy absorbing and transferring antenna molecule, has been modified to contain an electron donor moiety, 8-(2,4,5-trimethoxyphenyl)-4,4-difluoro-1,3,5,7-tetramethyl-4-bora-3a,4a-diaza-s-indacene (MEOPHBDP). The photoinduced electron transfer from a 2,4,5-trimethoxyphenyl moiety to a BODIPY moiety of MEOPHBDP in acetonitrile was observed by femtosecond laser flash photolysis measurements. The lifetime of the charge-separated state of MEOPHBDP was 59 ps at 298 K. The dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSC) were prepared using MEOPHBDP with carboxylic acid (MEOPHBDP-COOH) and a reference BODIPY dye having no electron donor moiety. The photovoltaic measurements were performed using a standard two-electrode system consisting of a working electrode and a Pt sputtered electrode in methoxyacetonitrile containing 0.5 M iodide and 0.05 M I(2). The photoelectrochemical properties of DSSC with MEOPHBDP are compared with those with a reference BODIPY dye. 相似文献

On the basis of the T-matrix formalism and numerical simulations, we derive an explicit rule for partial multipole contributions to the plasmon resonances of gold nanorods at a fixed or random orientation. The parity of a given spectral resonance number n coincides with the parity of their multipole contributions l, where l is equal to or greater than n, and the total resonance magnitude is determined by the lowest multipole contribution. We also investigate the dependence of multipole plasmons on the size, shape, and orientation of nanorods with respect to the polarized incident light. It is shown that the multipole resonance wavelengths as a function of the aspect ratio divided by the resonance number collapse onto one linear scaling curve. This scaling is explained by using the plasmon standing wave concept introduced by Schider et al. [Plasmon dispersion relation of Au and Ag nanowires. Phys Rev B 2003;68:155427]. 相似文献

Split RF coils offer improved patient access by eliminating the need for the coil to be slid over the region of interest. For unshielded birdcage coils, the presence of end ring currents necessitates a direct electrical connection between two halves of the coil. For high-field (>3T) shielded birdcage coils, both the shield and the coil must be split and reliably connected electrically. This problem can be circumvented by the use of split TEM volume coils. Since the elements of a TEM coil are coupled inductively, no direct electrical connection between the halves is necessary. In this work we demonstrate that the effects of splitting the shield for head and knee TEMs can be compensated for, and performance retained. For the knee, the improved access allowed the coil diameter to be reduced, enhancing the sensitivity by 15-20%. 相似文献
