Mathematics,Science of Possibility ‐‐ A Critical Review

This paper supports the view that search for the applicative standpoint in mathematical education has yet to be sufficiently exploited. Mathematical propositions are considered to have both an ‘internal’ and ‘external’ role and thus a system of ‘potential models’ is evolved. Despite the stress on the applicative nature of the subject it is argued in conclusion that the position in the body of the paper is compatible with the synthetic apriority of mathematics.

Fixed-Dose Combination Antibiotics Interacting with a Quaternary Ammonium Disinfectant: Insights from Spectral and Chromatographic Measurements

Core–shell architecture of surfactant micelles can act to shield active drug molecules from the adverse environmental conditions and enhance their bioavailability. In the present study the molecular interactions of a fixed dose combination (FDC) containing ofloxacin (OFX) and ornidazole (ORN), with cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB, a quaternary ammonium surfactant) were investigated under normal physiological pH (pH 7.4?±?0.1). The impact of the cationic micelle on the spectral and physiochemical properties of the FDC components OFX and ORN was systematically examined by electronic spectroscopy. Micellar liquid chromatography and differential spectral methods were used to optimize analysis of the magnitude of binding constants and related Gibbs energies. The results suggest the potential solubilization of drugs in the external part of the micelles, which may prove to be more helpful for their controlled release. These outcomes have been verified by the binding capacities of drug–CTAB combinational system that may be helpful to customize the uptake of drug molecules in cells.     

Synthetic modifications of chitin and chitosan as multipurpose biopolymers: A review

Chitin and chitosan are well-thought-out multipurpose biopolymers. Chitosan which is deacetylated chitin is useful than chitin and is biomaterial of great interest. Regardless of its biodegradability, chemical modifications suggest due to the amino side reactivity, helps to impart it other great qualities. Herein, we discuss the preparative methods of synthetically modified derivatives, some are commercially available. This review shields the literature from last few decades.     

Homobimetallic zinc(II) dithiocarbamates: synthesis,characterization and in vivo antihyperglycemic activity

This article presents structural characteristic and in vivo antihyperglycemic activities of three new homobimetallic Zn(II) dithiocarbamates (1–3) with general formula [ZnL₂]₂, where L is 4-(3-methoxyphenyl)piperazine-1-carbodithioate (1), 4-(4-methoxyphenyl)piperazine-1-carbodithioate (2) and 4-benzhydrylpiperazine-1-carbodithiaoate (3). These complexes have been characterized by elemental analysis, FT-IR, multinuclear NMR (¹H and ¹³C), and X-ray single crystal analysis. The latter technique has confirmed the homobimetallic nature of 1 and 2 in which Zn ions are linked via sulfurs to form a four-membered ring Zn₂S₂. Non-covalent intermolecular interactions give a supramolecular ladder-like zigzag chain (1) and layered structure (2). The antihyperglycemic activities revealed that the blood glucose lowering ability follows the trend: glibenclamide (83.0 mg dL^?1) > 3 (97.6 mg dL^?1) > 2 (100.4 mg dL^?1) > 1 (141.4 mg dL^?1).
