The adsorption and complexation of polystyrene sulfonate (a highly charged anionic polyelectrolyte) and a series of cationic surfactants, alkyltrimethylammonium bromide, CnTAB, n = 8-16, at the air-water interface has been studied by combining surface tension and ellipsometry measurements. We find that increasing the chain length of the surfactant from 8 to 10 carbons leads to a sharp increase in adsorption of PSS/CnTAB complexes. When the surfactant tail length is further increased to 12 and 14 carbons, surface adsorption becomes less favored than macroscopic phase separation, resulting in a partial surface depletion. Furthermore, we find that when surface tensions are plotted against surfactant/monomer molar concentration ratio, all data collapse to a single curve. This result shows that the surfactant-polymer molar ratio, s/p, is a key parameter for tuning the surface activity of the complexes formed.  相似文献

The paper concerns integral quantization, a procedure based on operator-valued measure and resolution of the identity. We insist on covariance properties in the important case where group representation theory is involved. We also insist on the inherent probabilistic aspects of this classical–quantum map. The approach includes and generalizes coherent state quantization. Two applications based on group representation are carried out. The first one concerns the Weyl–Heisenberg group and the euclidean plane viewed as the corresponding phase space. We show that a world of quantizations exist, which yield the canonical commutation rule and the usual quantum spectrum of the harmonic oscillator. The second one concerns the affine group of the real line and gives rise to an interesting regularization of the dilation origin in the half-plane viewed as the corresponding phase space.  相似文献

We report the results of a (2+1) resonance-enhanced multiphoton ionization (REMPI) study of the E2Sigma+(4ssigma) Rydberg state of NO-Kr. We present an assignment of the two-photon spectrum based on a simulation, and discuss it in the context of previously-reported spectra of NO-Ne and NO-Ar. In addition, we report on spectra in the region of the vNO=1 level of the E, F and H' 4s and 3d Rydberg states of NO-Rg (Rg=Ne-Kr). Since the NO vibrational frequency is affected by electron donation from the rare-gas (Rg) atom to the NO+ core, as well as by the penetration of the Rydberg electron, the fundamental NO-stretch frequency reflects the interactions in the complex. The results indicate that the 4s Rydberg state has a strong interaction between the NO+ core and the Kr atom, as was the case for NO-Ar and NO-Ne. For the 3d Rydberg states, although penetration is not as significant as for the 4s Rydberg states, it does play an important role, with subtle angular effects being notable.  相似文献

A low-cost, disposable card for rapid polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was developed in this work. Commercially available, adhesive-coated aluminum foils and polypropylene films were laminated with structured polycarbonate films to form microreactors in a card format. Ice valves [1] were employed to seal the reaction chambers during thermal cycling and a Peltier-based thermal cycler was configured for rapid thermal cycling and ice valve actuation. Numerical modeling was conducted to optimize the design of the PCR reactor and investigate the thermal gradient in the reaction chamber in the direction of sample thickness. The PCR reactor was experimentally characterized by using thin foil thermocouples and validated by a successful amplification of 10 copy of E. coli tuf gene in 27 min.  相似文献
