A subclass of the scale-parameter exponential family is considered and for the rth power of the scale parameter, which is lower bounded, an admissible minimax estimator under scale-invariant squared-error loss is presented. Also, an admissible minimax estimator of a lower-bounded parameter in the family of transformed chi-square distributions is given. It is well‐established that renormalized solutions of the Boltzmann equation enjoy some kind of regularity, or at least compactness, in the velocity variable when the angular collision kernel is nonintegrable. However, obtaining explicit estimates in convenient and natural functional settings proves rather difficult. In this work, we derive a velocity smoothness estimate from the a priori control of the renormalized dissipation. As a direct consequence of our result, we show that, in the presence of long‐range interactions, any renormalized solution F(t, x, v) to the Boltzmann equation satisfies locally ${\textstyle{F \over {1 + F}}} \in W_{t,x,v}^{s,p}$ for every $1 \le p \le {\textstyle{D \over {D - 1}}}$ and for some s > 0 depending on p. We also provide an application of this new estimate to the hydrodynamic limit of the Boltzmann equation without cutoff. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

We study Laplace-type operators on hybrid manifolds, i.e., on configurations consisting of closed two-dimensional manifolds and one-dimensional segments. Such an operator can be constructed by using the Laplace–Beltrami operators on each component with some boundary conditions at the points of gluing. This paper presents objective finite elastic equations that reproduce the linear stress-strain behaviour observed in uniaxial tension tests with some materials. More generally, the new equations reduce to linear elastic equations when the deformation is a pure stretch. Further, the response of the proposed equations for the case of isotropic materials in uniaxial tension-compression and simple shear is examined. It is also shown how the new equations can be considered as linear approximations of general equations of finite elasticity.  相似文献
