Polarization data are given for three whiskers recorded with the large solar vacuum telescope at the Baikal Observatory, Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics, Russian Academy of Sciences. The observed degree of polarization varies from 2 to 13%. The direction of the polarization plane for the mediumintensity whisker was tangential, while that for the weakest one was radial. The brightest whisker had the polarization plane direction close to radial at the center of the line but tangential at the flanks. It is assumed that the polarization is due to impact excitation of a hydrogen-atom ensemble in the solar chromosphere by an electron beam, and estimates are made of the beam energy. Abstact: The elastic scattering cross sections, σ (E,θ), for the systems He+Ta and He+W have been measured at θlab=165° and E lab=76.1 keV to 3.988 MeV using targets with a thickness of a few atomic layers. The results are smaller than the results given by the Rutherford scattering law, σR(E,θ), due to the effects of electron screening and can be described by σ(E,θ)/σR(E,θ)=(1+Ue/E)−1, where U e is an atomic screening potential energy. The deduced average value, U e=28 ± 3 keV, is consistent with the Moliére- and Lenz-Jensen-models as well as electron binding energies. Received: 25 May 1998  相似文献

Experiments on permanent lattice-defect formation induced by electronic excitation of rare-gas solids are presented. The dynamics of defects with linear dimensions from ≈1 to ≈100 nm on a Au surface under load have been studied by means of tunnelling microscopy. It is found that the origin, growth, and resorption of the defects is caused by displacements of bands of material from 5 to 50 nm wide, parallel to the {111} slip planes. The defects can be separated into two groups: nonsteady-state defects, whose lifetime does not exceed 15 min, while the depth is ⩽20 nm, and quasi-steady-state defects, with a lifetime three orders of magnitude greater than the first. It is assumed that the nonsteady-state defects are formed when the ensemble of dislocations is being reconstructed, while the quasi-steady-state defects are formed at the instant of formation of dislocation substructures during the creep of the loaded metal. The structure of scalar fields for a directly indecomposable finite-dimensional algebra treated as a ring is studied. Scalar fields are assumed similar if their action on a ring is identical modulo an annihilator. The magnetic phase diagrams of a two-sublattice ferrimagnet with a magnetically unstable subsystem are calculated taking account of the susceptibility. Analytic expressions are obtained for the phase-transition fields and critical values of the parameters of the ferrimagnet. The evolution of the magnetic phase diagrams as the susceptibility of the unstable sublattice increases is analyzed.  相似文献

High-spin states in 181Ta have been studied via the 176Yb(11B,α2n) reaction at 52 MeV using the PEX array and at 57 MeV using the NORDBALL array, with α-particle detection. The previously known, Kπ=(7/2)+ ground state band and Kπ=(9/2) band have been extended to spins (29/2)+ and (31/2), respectively. Two new one-quasiparticle bands, the Kπ=(5/2)+ band built on the known (5/2)+ isomer and a Kπ=((1/2)) band have been observed. Two other rotational bands with three-quasiparticle structure, Kπ=(15/2) and ((19/2)+ with π(7/2)[404]ν2(1/2)[510](9/2)[624] and π(9/2)[514]ν2(1/2)[510](9/2)[624] configurations, respectively, have been newly observed. The half-life of the Kπ=((19/2)+) bandhead which decays to the head of the (15/2) band has been measured to be 140(36) ns. The optical absorption of GaAs crystals with thicknesses d=0.4−4.4 μm is measured in the exciton-polariton resonance region at a temperature of 1.7 K. As the thickness is reduced, both a broadening of the exciton line and increased absorption with a negligible Stark shift are observed. The way the absorption spectra vary with crystal thickness is examined in terms of a competition between two regions for light-exciton interactions in the crystal: in the field of surface charges and electric-field free. The problems of choosing the optimal mathematical model for a prescribed range of parameters of a pulsed action are discussed. A preliminary analysis performed by similarity and dimensional-analysis methods using interpolation equations of state of the matter shows that the complete system of equations of gasdynamics can be simplified by dropping individual terms which are not important in a given parameter range. The results of an analysis are presented in the form of nomograms, which also make it possible to identify the class of fast and energy-intensive gasdynamic processes more accurately than at an intuitive level.
