Cyclopropenes and methylenecyclopropanes in 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reactions

The review considers the main results of the cycloaddition reactions involving cyclopropenes and methylenecyclopropanes, the compounds bearing strained three-membered rings and, respectively, endo- and exocyclic double bonds. The main attention is focused on the reactions of these compounds with 1,3-dipoles (nitrones, azomethine imines, azomethine ylides, carbonyl ylides, etc.), which gave complex heterocyclic systems with high regio- and stereoselectivity.

A study of n-dodecylammonium acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonate association in aqueous solutions

Association of a micelle-forming monomer, n-dodecylammonium 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonate, in aqueous solutions has been studied in a concentration range of 1.5 × 10^?3–2.5 × 10^?1 M with the use of conductometry, capillary and rotational viscometry, isothermal translational diffusion, and atomic force microscopy. Two critical micelle concentrations have been determined, and the shape of n-dodecylammonium 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonate micelles has been proposed.

Control of the self-assembly processes in a droplet of a colloidal solution by an acoustic field

The formation of structured films consisting of ensembles of micro- or nanoparticles and possessing preset functional characteristics is studied both experimentally and theoretically. The films are obtained by drying out droplets of colloidal solutions on a solid substrate under the acoustic effect produced by a standing SAW field.     

Electrical and electroluminescent properties of InAsSb-Based LEDs (λ = 3.85–3.95 μm) in the temperature interval 20–200°C

The temperature dependences of the electrical and electroluminescent properties of InAsSbP/InAsSb/InAsSbP heterostructure LEDs (λ ≈ 3.8−4.0 μm) are studied in the temperature interval 20–200°C. It is shown that the radiation power decreases with increasing temperature in a superexponential manner and that this decrease is associated primarily with a rise in the rate of Auger recombination. The position of the maximum in the radiation spectrum varies with temperature nonmonotonically, since radiative recombination is observed both in the active region and in the wide-gap layer. At room temperature, current through the heterostructure is tunneling current irrespective of the applied voltage polarity. As the temperature rises, either the thermal emission of charge carriers appears (direct bias) or the diffusion current becomes significant (reverse bias).     

Calculation of the impurity distribution for diffusion in a solid crystal with inhomogeneous layers

A solution is obtained for the diffusion from a constant source at a surface in a solid crystal with an inhomogeneity in the form of a layer with high diffusion coefficient of arbitrary thickness. The expressions obtained may be used, depending on the choice of the inhomogeneous layer thickness, to investigate surface diffusion or diffusion at grain boundaries or dislocations.Translated from Izvestiya Vysshikh Uchebnykh Zavedenii, Fizika, No. 10, pp. 104–108, October, 1977.
