COVID-19 has expanded across the world since its discovery in Wuhan (China) and has had a significant impact on people’s lives and health. Long COVID is a term coined by the World Health Organization (WHO) to describe a variety of persistent symptoms after acute SARS-CoV-2 infection. Long COVID has been demonstrated to affect various SARS-CoV-2-infected persons, independently of the acute disease severity. The symptoms of long COVID, like acute COVID-19, consist in the set of damage to various organs and systems such as the respiratory, cardiovascular, neurological, endocrine, urinary, and immune systems. Fatigue, dyspnea, cardiac abnormalities, cognitive and attention impairments, sleep disturbances, post-traumatic stress disorder, muscle pain, concentration problems, and headache were all reported as symptoms of long COVID. At the molecular level, the renin-angiotensin system (RAS) is heavily involved in the pathogenesis of this illness, much as it is in the acute phase of the viral infection. In this review, we summarize the impact of long COVID on several organs and tissues, with a special focus on the significance of the RAS in the disease pathogenesis. Long COVID risk factors and potential therapy approaches are also explored.  相似文献

Thiosemicarbazone ligand, 2‐((4,9‐dimethoxy‐5‐oxo‐5H‐furo[3,2‐g]chromen‐6‐yl)methylene) hydrazinecarbothioamide and its Cd(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), Ni(II), Co(II), VO(II), and Mn(II) complexes have been prepared and characterized by various spectroscopic and analytical techniques. Complexes molar conductance measurements displayed that all complexes (2–8) are non‐electrolyte. With general composition [M(H3L)(CH3COO)2H2O].nH2O, where M = Cd(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), Ni(II), Co(II) and Mn(II) while complex (8) has [VO(H3L)(SO4)H2O].2H2O formula. Based on analytical and spectral measurements, the octahedral or distorted octahedral geometries suggested for complexes. Ligand and complexes anti‐proliferative activities were assessed against three various human tumor cell lines including breast cancer (MCF‐7), liver cancer (HepG2) and lung cancer (A549) using SRB fluorometric assay and cis‐platin as positive control. The anti‐proliferative activity result indicated that the ligand and its complexes have considerable anti‐proliferative activity analogous to that of ordinarily utilized anti‐cancer drug (cis‐platin). They do their anti‐cancer activities by modifying free radical's generation via raising the superoxide dismutase activity and depletion of intracellular reduced glutathione level, catalase, glutathione peroxidase activities, escorted by highly generation of hydrogen peroxide, nitric oxide and other free radicals leading to tumor cells death, as monitoring by decreasing the protein and nucleic acids synthesis.  相似文献

Perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) represent one of the most recalcitrant class of compounds of emerging concern and their removal from water is a challenging goal. In this study, we investigated the removal efficiency of three selected PFAS from water, namely, perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), perfluorohexanoic acid (PFHxA) and pefluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOS) using a custom-built non-thermal plasma generator. A modified full factorial design (with 2 levels, 3 variables and the central point in which both quadratic terms and interactions between couple of variables were considered) was used to investigate the effect of plasma discharge frequency, distance between the electrodes and water conductivity on treatment efficiency. Then, the plasma treatment running on optimized conditions was used to degrade PFAS at ppb level both individually and in mixture, in ultrapure and groundwater matrices. PFOS 1 ppb exhibited the best degradation reaching complete removal after 30 min of treatment in both water matrices (first order rate constant 0.107 min−1 in ultrapure water and 0.0633 min−1 in groundwater), while the degradation rate of PFOA and PFHxA was slower of around 65% and 83%, respectively. During plasma treatment, the production of reactive species in the liquid phase (hydroxyl radical, hydrogen peroxide) and in the gas phase (ozone, NOx) was investigated. Particular attention was dedicated to the nitrogen balance in solution where, following to NOx hydrolysis, total nitrogen (TN) was accumulated at the rate of up to 40 mgN L−1 h−1.  相似文献

Alkaline polymer electrolytes (ASPE) have been prepared by using poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) polymer and which different weight percentages of potassium hydroxide (KOH), ceramic filler (α-Al2O3), and propylene carbonate (PC) have been added. The pure PVA/H2O weight ratio (1.00:1.49), the PVA/KOH/H2O (1.00:0.67:2.22), the PVA/KOH/α-Al2O3/H2O (1.00:0.67:0.09:7.56), and PVA/KOH/α-Al2O3/PC/H2O (1.00:0.67:0.09:2.64:1.32) were studied. The hysteresis phenomena in the conductivity temperature of ASPE were investigated. The polymer electrolytes prepared were characterized using X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy.  相似文献

Cylindrical pellets were made by mixing ion-exchange resin particles with binding powders and heating to 140°C. To compare catalytic activities of these resin pellets with those of resin particles and sulfuric acid, the esterification of palmitic acid with isobutyl alcohol was carried out in a batch reactor. This paper presents a tunable hybrid brillouin-erbium fiber laser system with a maximum tuning range of more than 36.7 nm. The system was configured in a ring set-up with another fiber laser used as the brillouin pump at about 8 mW maximum launched power. Stable Stokes signals at an average of about 0.08 nm wavelength shift were observed across the tuning range. The dependency of the Stokes signal tuning range on the laser's spectral gain is also elaborated.  相似文献
