Iron peroxide species have been identified as important intermediates in a number of nonheme iron as well as heme-containing enzymes, yet there are only a few examples of such species either synthetic or biological that have been well characterized. We describe the synthesis and structural characterization of a new series of five-coordinate (N4S(thiolate))Fe(II) complexes that react with tert-butyl hydroperoxide ((t)BuOOH) or cumenyl hydroperoxide (CmOOH) to give metastable alkylperoxo-iron(III) species (N4S(thiolate)Fe(III)-OOR) at low temperature. These complexes were designed specifically to mimic the nonheme iron active site of superoxide reductase, which contains a five-coordinate iron(II) center bound by one Cys and four His residues in the active form of the protein. The structures of the Fe(II) complexes are analyzed by X-ray crystallography, and their electrochemical properties are assessed by cyclic voltammetry. For the Fe(III)-OOR species, low-temperature UV-vis spectra reveal intense peaks between 500-550 nm that are typical of peroxide to iron(III) ligand-to-metal charge-transfer (LMCT) transitions, and EPR spectroscopy shows that these alkylperoxo species are all low-spin iron(III) complexes. Identification of the vibrational modes of the Fe(III)-OOR unit comes from resonance Raman (RR) spectroscopy, which shows nu(Fe-O) modes between 600-635 cm(-1) and nu(O-O) bands near 800 cm(-1). These Fe-O stretching frequencies are significantly lower than those found in other low-spin Fe(III)-OOR complexes. Trends in the data conclusively show that this weakening of the Fe-O bond arises from a trans influence of the thiolate donor, and density functional theory (DFT) calculations support these findings. These results suggest a role for the cysteine ligand in SOR, and are discussed in light of the recent assessments of the function of the cysteine ligand in this enzyme. 相似文献

The reaction between N(alpha)-acetyllysine methyl ester (Lys) and 2'-deoxyguanosine (dGuo) was used to study structural aspects of DNA-protein cross-link (DPC) formation. The precise structure of DPCs depended on the nature of the oxidant and cross-linking reactions in which a series of different oxidation conditions generated a distribution of adducts, principally spirodiiminodihydantoins with lysine appended at the purine position of C5 (5-Lys-Sp), C8 (8-Lys-Sp), or both C5 and C8 (5,8-diLys-Sp). Singlet oxygen oxidation of dGuo produced 5-Lys-Sp exclusively when Rose Bengal or methylene blue was used to photochemically generate (1)O2 in the presence of Lys, whereas riboflavin or benzophenone-mediated photochemistry generated lysine radicals and led to C8 adduct formation, yielding 8-Lys-Sp and 5,8-diLys-Sp. Notably, the yield of dGuo modifications from riboflavin photooxidation increased dramatically in the presence of lysine. Oxidation of deoxyguanosine/lysine mixtures with Na2IrCl6 or sulfate radicals produced both 5-Lys-Sp and 8-Lys-Sp. The same adducts were formed in single and double-stranded oligodeoxynucleotides, and these could be analyzed after nuclease digestion. Adduct formation in duplex DNA was somewhat dependent on the accessibility of lysine to C5 vs C8 of the purine. No adduct formation was detected between lysine and the other nucleobases T, C, or A. Overall, the precise location of adduct formation at C5 vs C8 of guanine appears to be diagnostic of the oxidation pathway. 相似文献

Catalytic reduction of NO2 with CO and/or propylene in the presence of NO and excess oxygen, a model mixture for flue gas, was studied over a series of CuO‐CeO2/SiO2 catalysts between 120–260 °C. The effect of HCl, an impurity in flue gas, on the activity of the catalysts was evaluated. It was found that a binary oxide catalyst, 2% CuO‐8% CeO2/SiO2, was active for the reduction of NO2 by CO and/or propylene. CO was effective for selective reduction of NO2 in the presence of NO and O2 in a temperature window between 160–200 °C while propylene was effective at temperature higher than 200 °C. In the presence of HCl, the activity of the catalyst for reduction of NO2 with CO was irreversibly deactivated. However, the activity for reduction of NO2 with propylene was not influenced by HCl. 相似文献

LiSc(BH4)4 has been prepared by ball milling of LiBH4 and ScCl3. Vibrational spectroscopy indicates the presence of discrete Sc(BH4)4(-) ions. DFT calculations of this isolated complex ion confirm that it is a stable complex, and the calculated vibrational spectra agree well with the experimental ones. The four BH4(-) groups are oriented with a tilted plane of three hydrogen atoms directed to the central Sc ion, resulting in a global 8 + 4 coordination. The crystal structure obtained by high-resolution synchrotron powder diffraction reveals a tetragonal unit cell with a = 6.076 A and c = 12.034 A (space group P-42c). The local structure of the Sc(BH4)4(-) complex is refined as a distorted form of the theoretical structure. The Li ions are found to be disordered along the z axis. 相似文献

The development of energy-saving technology for the efficient separation of olefin and paraffin is highly important for the chemical industry. Herein, we report a self-assembled Fe4L6 capsule containing a hydrophobic cavity, which can be used to encapsulate and separate propylene/propane. The successful encapsulation of propylene and propane by the Fe4L6 cage in a water solution was documented by NMR spectroscopy. The binding constants K for the Fe4L6 cage toward propylene and propane were determined to be (5.0±0.1)×103 M−1 and (2.1±0.7)×104 M−1 in D2O at 25 °C, respectively. Experiments and theoretical studies revealed that the cage exhibited multiple weak interactions with propylene and propane. The polymer-grade propylene (>99.5 %) can be obtained from a mixture of propylene and propane by using the Fe4L6 cage as a separation material in a U-shaped glass tube. In striving for the best possible separation, the selectivity of stationary phases as an optimization parameter is often underestimated although there are many ways to influence this powerful tool. This review serves to provide an insight into the various ways of adapting the selectivity of a separation in liquid chromatography. Approaches via temperature and flow rate tuning are discussed as a basis followed by focusing on the stationary phase as the superior optimization parameter. Highly selective stationary phases hereby provide an advantage for groups of similar analytes. For more complex mixtures, separations can be improved using mixed-mode technologies where different retention mechanisms are combined. Serial coupling, mixed-bed columns, and stationary phase optimized selectivity liquid chromatography provide solutions to various degrees. Finally, the advantages of stationary phase tuning over adaption of mobile phase and/or temperature are presented in terms of optimum application range. 相似文献

The frustration in super-ionic conductors enables their exceptionally high ionic conductivities, which are desired for many technological applications including batteries and fuel cells. A key challenge in the study of frustration is the difficulties in analyzing a large number of disordered atomistic configurations. Using lithium super-ionic conductors as model systems, we propose and demonstrate the density of atomistic states (DOAS) analytics to quantitatively characterize the onset and degree of disordering, reveal the energetics of local disorder, and elucidate how the frustration enhances diffusion through the broadening and overlapping of the energy levels of atomistic states. Furthermore, material design strategies aided by the DOAS are devised and demonstrated for new super-ionic conductors. A new dual detection system for microchip is reported. Both fluorescence detector (FD) and contactless conductivity detector (CCD) were combined together and integrated on a microfluidic chip. They shared a common detection position and responded simultaneously. A blue light-emitting diode was used as excitation source and a small planar photodiode was used to collect the emitted fluorescence in fluorescence detection, which made the device more compact and portable. The coupling of the fluorescence and contactless conductivity modes at the same position of a single separation channel enhanced the detection characterization of sample and offered simultaneous detection information of both fluorescent and charged specimen. The detection conditions of the system were optimized. K+, Na+, fluorescein sodium, fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC) and FITC-labeled amino acids were used to evaluate the performance of the dual detection system. The limits of detection (LOD) of FD for fluorescein Na+, FITC, FITC-labeled arginine (Arg), glycine (Gly) and phenylalanine (Phe) were 0.02 μmol L−1, 0.05 μmol L−1, 0.16 μmol L−1, 0.15 μmol L−1, 0.12 μmol L−1 respectively, and the limits of detection (LOD) of CCD achieved 0.58 μmol L−1 and 0.39 μmol L−1 for K+ and Na+ respectively. 相似文献
