Solvation structure of the zinc(II) ion in N,N-dimethylpropionamide (DMPA) was studied by Raman spectroscopy at varying temperature and by quantum mechanical calculations. No significant ion-pair formation was found for the Zn(ClO4)2 solution in the molality range m(Zn) < 1.5 mol kg(-1), and the solvation number of the zinc(II) ion was determined to be 4, indicating that 6-coordination of DMPA is sterically hindered. Interestingly, DMPA molecules are under equilibrium between planar cis and nonplanar staggered conformers, and the latter is more preferred in the coordination sphere, while the reverse is the case in the bulk. The DeltaG degrees , DeltaH degrees , and TDeltaS degrees values of conformational change from planar cis to nonplanar staggered in the coordination sphere were obtained to be -0.9, -8.5, and -7.5 kJ mol(-1), respectively. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations show that the planar cis conformer is more favorable than the nonplanar staggered one in the 1:2 cluster, as is the case for a single DMPA molecule and H(DMPA)+, indicating that there hardly occurs solvent-solvent interaction through the metal ion in the Zn2+-DMPA 1:2 cluster. On the other hand, the SCF energy of [Zn(planar cis-DMPA)4-n(nonplanar staggered DMPA)n]2+ (n = 0-4) decreases with increasing n, implying that the nonplanar staggered conformer is preferred in the solvate ion. It is thus concluded that solvent-solvent interaction through space, or solvation steric effect, plays a crucial role in the conformational equilibrium in the coordination sphere of the four-solvate metal ion.  相似文献

We present results which suggest that the photophysics of S(1) toluene is significantly more complicated than that of the related molecules p-fluorotoluene or p-difluorobenzene. We have measured a range of photoelectron spectra for a number of S(1) internal energies, on different time scales and at different temperatures, in an attempt to unravel the competing processes, but the final conclusion remains outstanding.  相似文献

Unequal affinity between lipids has been hypothesized to be a mechanism for the formation of microdomains/rafts in membranes. Our studies focus upon the interaction of cholesterol with polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA)-containing phospholipids. They support the proposal that steric incompatibility of the rigid steroid moiety for highly disordered PUFA chains, in particular docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), provides a sensitive trigger for lateral segregation of lipids into PUFA-rich/sterol-poor and PUFA-poor/sterol-rich regions. Solid state 2H NMR and x-ray diffraction (XRD) demonstrate that the solubility of cholesterol is reduced in 1-palmitoyl-2-docosahexaenoyl-phosphatidylethanolamine (16-0:22:6PE) bilayers. In mixed membranes of phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) with the lipid raft forming molecules egg sphingomyelin (SM) and cholesterol, diminished affinity of the sterol for 16:0-22:6PE relative to 1-palmitoyl-2-oleoylphosphatidylethanolamine (16:0-18:1PE) is identified by 2H NMR order parameters and detergent extraction. Phase separation of the PUFA-containing phospholipid from SM/cholesterol rafts is the implication, which may be associated with the myriad of health benefits of dietary DHA.  相似文献

The tautomeric preferences of the conjugated acids of 2-aminopyrrole derivatives have been examined both in the gas phase and in aqueous solution by using a combination of quantum mechanical, self-consistent reaction field and Monte Carlo–free-energy perturbation methods. The results show that the nature of substituents, the solvent and the presence of cosolute are relevant factors in modulating the relative stability between the tautomeric conjugate acids protonated at the heterocyclic ring and at the exocyclic amino nitrogen. Thus, attachment of electron-withdrawing groups to the ring, solvation in polar solvents, and the presence of negatively charged cosolutes tend to favor protonation at the exocyclic amino nitrogen. Nevertheless, none of these factors alone suffice to change the tautomeric preference for the ring-protonated forms. The results point out that the concerted occurrence of the three factors is necessary to shift the tautomeric preference towards the conjugated species protonated at the exocyclic nitrogen.Contribution to the Jacopo Tomasi Honorary Issue  相似文献

A scalable, high yielding, rapid route to access an array of nitriles from aldehydes mediated by an oxoammonium salt (4‐acetylamino‐2,2,6,6‐tetramethylpiperidine‐1‐oxoammonium tetrafluoroborate) and hexamethyldisilazane (HMDS) as an ammonia surrogate has been developed. The reaction likely involves two distinct chemical transformations: reversible silyl‐imine formation between HMDS and an aldehyde, followed by oxidation mediated by the oxoammonium salt and desilylation to furnish a nitrile. The spent oxidant can be easily recovered and used to regenerate the oxoammonium salt oxidant.  相似文献

Association theories such as the CPA (cubic-plus-association), NRHB (non-random hydrogen bonding) equations of state and the various variants of SAFT (statistical associating fluid theory) have been extensively applied to phase equilibrium calculations. Such models can also be used for estimating the monomer fraction of hydrogen bonding compounds and their mixtures. Monomer fraction data are obtained from spectroscopic measurements and they are available for a few compounds such as pure water and alcohols as well as for some alcohol–alkane and similar mixtures. These data are useful for an understanding of the capabilities and limitations of association models. The purpose of this work is two-fold: (i) to compare the performance of three models, CPA, NRHB and sPC-SAFT, in predicting the monomer fraction of water, alcohols and mixtures of alcohol-inert compounds and (ii) to investigate whether “improved” model parameters can be obtained if monomer fraction data are included in the parameter estimation together with vapor pressures and liquid densities. The expression “improved” implies parameters which can represent several pure compound properties as well as monomer fraction data for pure compounds and mixtures. The accuracy of experimental monomer fraction data is discussed, as well as the role of monomer fraction data in clarifying which association scheme should be used in these equations of state. The results reveal that the investigated association models (CPA, sPC-SAFT and NRHB) can predict, at least qualitatively correct, monomer fractions of associating compounds and mixtures. Only, small differences are observed between the models. In addition, it has been shown that, using a suitable association scheme, a single set of parameters can describe satisfactorily vapor pressures, liquid densities and monomer fractions of water and alcohols. The 4C scheme is the best choice for water, while for methanol there is small difference between the 2B and 3B association schemes.  相似文献

The asymmetric addition of trimethylsilyl cyanide to aldehydes can be catalysed by Lewis acids and/or Lewis bases, which activate the aldehyde and trimethylsilyl cyanide, respectively. It is not always apparent from the structure of the catalyst whether Lewis acid or Lewis base catalysis predominates. To investigate this in the context of using salen complexes of titanium, vanadium and aluminium as catalysts, a Hammett analysis of asymmetric cyanohydrin synthesis was undertaken. When Lewis acid catalysis is dominant, a significantly positive reaction constant is observed, whereas reactions dominated by Lewis base catalysis give much smaller reaction constants. [{Ti(salen)O}2] was found to show the highest degree of Lewis acid catalysis, whereas two [VO(salen)X] (X=EtOSO3 or NCS) complexes both displayed lower degrees of Lewis acid catalysis. In the case of reactions catalysed by [{Al(salen)}2O] and triphenylphosphine oxide, a non‐linear Hammett plot was observed, which is indicative of a change in mechanism with increasing Lewis base catalysis as the carbonyl compound becomes more electron‐deficient. These results suggested that the aluminium complex/triphenylphosphine oxide catalyst system should also catalyse the asymmetric addition of trimethylsilyl cyanide to ketones and this was found to be the case.  相似文献

3′,5′‐Dimethoxybenzoin (DMB) is a bichromophoric system that has widespread application as a highly efficient photoremovable protecting group (PRPG) for the release of diverse functional groups. The photodeprotection of DMB phototriggers is remarkably clean, and is accompanied by the formation of a biologically benign cyclization product, 3′,5′‐dimethoxybenzofuran (DMBF). The underlying mechanism of the DMB deprotection and cyclization has, however, until now remained unclear. Femtosecond transient absorption (fs‐TA) spectroscopy and nanosecond time‐resolved resonance Raman (ns‐TR3) spectroscopy were employed to detect the transient species directly, and examine the dynamic transformations involved in the primary photoreactions for DMB diethyl phosphate (DMBDP) in acetonitrile (CH3CN). To assess the electronic character and the role played by the individual sub‐chromophore, that is, the benzoyl, and the di‐meta‐methoxybenzylic moieties, for the DMBDP deprotection, comparative fs‐TA measurements were also carried out for the reference compounds diethyl phosphate acetophenone (DPAP), and 3′,5′‐dimethoxybenzylic diethyl phosphate (DMBnDP) in the same solvent. Comparison of the fs‐TA spectra reveals that the photoexcited DMBDP exhibits distinctly different spectral character and dynamic evolution from those of the reference compounds. This fact, combined with the related steady‐state spectral and density functional theoretical results, strongly suggests the presence in DMBDP of a significant interaction between the two sub‐chromophores, and that this interaction plays a governing role in determining the nature of the photoexcitation and the reaction channel of the subsequent photophysical and photochemical transformations. The ns‐TR3 results and their correlation with the fs‐TA spectra and dynamics provide evidence for a novel concerted deprotection–cyclization mechanism for DMBDP in CH3CN. By monitoring the direct generation of the transient DMBF product, the cyclization time constant was determined unequivocally to be ≈1 ns. This indicates that there is little relevance for the long‐lived intermediates (>10 ns) in giving the DMBF product, and excludes the stepwise mechanism proposed in the literature as the major pathway for the DMB cyclization reaction. This work provides important new insights into the origin of the 3′,5′‐dimethoxy substitution effect for the DMB photodeprotection. It also helps to clarify the many different views presented in previous mechanistic studies of the DMB PRPGs. In addition to this, our fs‐TA results on the reference compound DMBnDP in CH3CN provide the first direct observation (to the best of our knowledge) showing the predominance of a prompt (≈2 ps) heterolytic bond cleavage after photoexcitation of meta‐methoxybenzylic compounds. This provides insight into the long‐term controversies about the photoinitiated dissociation mode of related substituted benzylic compounds.  相似文献

Previously a range of androgen conjugates with non-conventional platinum(II) complexes have been synthesised with the aim of enhancing cellular delivery, and which have shown increased cytotoxic activity compared with non-steroidal compounds (M. J. Hannon et al., Dalton Trans., 2010, DOI: 10.1039/c0dt00838a). To further study this, the complexes have been assessed for their ability to bind to and alter the structure of DNA. All platinum(II) complexes studied herein bind to model nucleo-bases and DNA, but to our surprise, testosterone-based complexes caused the DNA helix to undergo significant unwinding and bending, whereas non-steroidal control complexes caused minimal structural alterations. These effects are similar to those cisplatin induces on DNA structure despite the fact that these compounds produce a monofunctional lesion. This ability attributed to interactions between the DNA helix and bulky steroidal skeleton of testosterone, coupled with the enhanced cellular delivery induced by the steroid make the steroid approach an exciting way to explore non-conventional platinum drug delivery.  相似文献

We report on full-dimensional vibrational quantum dynamics of the highly excited ammonia isotopologue NHD(2) using a newly developed potential energy surface and the MCTDH program package. The calculations allow to realistically simulate an infrared laser induced stereomutation reaction at the pyramidal nitrogen atom in the femtosecond time domain. Our results allow for a thorough qualitative and quantitative understanding of infrared photoinduced stereomutation kinetics, the underlying quantum dynamics, and the reaction mechanisms. Comparison is made with a previous, reduced dimensionality study of the same reaction [R. Marquardt, M. Quack, I. Thanopulos, and D. Luckhaus, J. Chem. Phys. 118, 643 (2003)], and it is shown that slight variances of reduced spaces lead to significantly different kinetics. Because the quantum dynamics depends subtly on variances of reduced spaces, reduced dimensionality treatments are not reliable even for qualitative predictions of the stereomutation kinetics. The first direct comparison between the Multiconfigurational Time Dependent Hartree [M. H. Beck, A. Ja?ckle, G. A. Worth et al., Phys. Rep. 324, 1 (2000)] and Unimolecular Reactions Induced by Monochromatic Infrared Radiation [M. Quack and E. Sutcliffe, QCPE Bulletin 6, 98 (1986)] program packages on a specific, four dimensional quantum dynamical problem allows for their full validation in the present work.  相似文献
