A Fleming–Viot Particle Representation¶of the Dirichlet Laplacian

We consider a model with a large number N of particles which move according to independent Brownian motions. A particle which leaves a domain D is killed; at the same time, a different particle splits into two particles. For large N, the particle distribution density converges to the normalized heat equation solution in D with Dirichlet boundary conditions. The stationary distributions converge as N→∞ to the first eigenfunction of the Laplacian in D with the same boundary conditions. Received: 11 November 1999 / Accepted: 19 May 2000     

Time irregularity of generalized Ornstein–Uhlenbeck processes

This Note is concerned with the properties of solutions to a linear evolution equation perturbed by a cylindrical Lévy process. It turns out that solutions, under rather weak requirements, do not have a càdlàg modification. Some natural open questions are also stated.     

Influence of the image interaction on ion desorption processes

A classical treatment of the interaction between an ion and a conducting surface during an ion desorption process is presented. Analytical expressions have been obtained for the trajectories of desorbing ions as well as for the trajectories of ions trapped by the image potential. The distortion by the image potential of the energy and angular distribution of desorbing ions is estimated. Our objective has been to provide a guide for experimentalists to the surprisingly large changes in such distributions caused by the image forces.     

Charge orderings in the atomic limit of the extended Hubbard model

The extended Hubbard model in the atomic limit (AL-EHM) on a square lattice with periodic boundary conditions is studied with use of the Monte Carlo (MC) method. Within the grand canonical ensemble the phase and order-order boundaries for charge orderings are obtained. The phase diagrams include three types of charge ordered phases and the nonordered phase. The system exhibits very rich structure and shows unusual multicritical behavior. In the limiting case of t_ij=0, the EHM is equivalent to the pseudospin model with single-ion anisotropy , exchange interaction W in an effective magnetic field . This classical spin model is analyzed using the MC method for the canonical ensemble. The phase diagram is compared with the known results for the Blume-Capel model.     

诱惑态在“双探测器”准单光子光源量子密钥分发系统中的应用

现在诱惑态已被证明是一种可以大大提高量子密钥分发安全性能的现实可行的方法.由于考虑到现实应用中激光器在调制过程中的消光比不能做到100%，以及激光器固有的自发辐射因而使得制备真空态并不是一件容易的事情. 因此本文将对理想情况下准单光子光源量子密钥分发系统应用中的诱惑态结论作了补充和扩展，提出了两个弱光强态的诱惑态方案和一个弱光强诱惑态方案.最后，将“双探测器”的理论应用在准单光子源(HSPS)光源系统中，使系统的安全传输距离可达到2215km，比使用普通探测器的系统增加了约50km.     

NMR and inelastic incoherent neutron scattering (IINS) studies of monohydroxy-17 and -21-substituted derivatives of progesterone

Internal dynamics of 17- and 21-substituted progesterone derivatives was studied by the methods NMR, inelastic incoherent neutron scattering (IINS) and quantum chemical calculations. Comparison of the computer simulation of the phonon density of states (PDS) spectrum performed by the density functional theory (DFT) method with the spectrum obtained after a transformation of the experimental results permits an interpretation of subsequent modes. Only for 17OH prg the second moment of NMR line decreases to 10 G2 near room temperature, most probably because of the oscillations about direction of inter-molecular hydrogen bond. Significant mobility of protons in this compound is also confirmed by a low intensity of the elastic peak in INS and broadening of this spectrum.
